Do they seriously think they have the ability to do that. From what I've heard, the only thing they can do is DDoS. You know, the thing that this very forum has had and is still running. All I have to say to this is...

This is exactly why I hate the internet. A few college kids learn how to perform something like DDoS attacks, and then they say that they can take down entire online connection services. They can't do it, and they know it. They just want to entice a sense of contrived fear into the gaming community, for no other reason than "We can do it, because who's going to stop us?"

Please don't call them hackers, any 10 year old can type in his or her victim's IP adress into LOIC, press 'go', and perform a DDOS, they're script kiddies with a large group which is the only reason they've been able to attack these services.

they call themselves a "hacker group" but all they do is ddos, thats not a form of hacking, thats just sending a ton of requests to a server so it breaks down,you don't have to be a computer expert for that.

As a programmer, I laugh when they called themself hackers, and it even got anonymous angry with them.

 the Lizards won't be around long, they'll be caught quite soon, just takes a bit of time.

Bunch of wannabee "hackers"/attention seekers that get their kicks from inconveniencing people for a day and then giving extremely condescending and ego-filled tweets that basically claim they're the bane of the internet. No better then Keyboard Warriors if you ask me.

 

They probably figure that a bunch of people/kids will get a new xbox for christmas and that the resulting wave of new users to Xbox Live will make the servers unstable for a little while, which I imagine they'll try and supplement with their own DDoS', but permanently take down a service belonging to the largest software corporation that employs thousands of professional programmers with far more experience then they have combined? Yeah, that should be interesting...

Agreed. It bugs me when people who recently learned some cool computer stuff starts to call themselves hackers even though what they're doing has nothing to do with hacking. It is ridiculous how these people can't tell the difference between sending packages to an IP and actually accessing protected data through actual hacking.

 

If these people really were hackers, they would not have told their plans to begin with. Lizard Squad are like a pathetic bunch of people who suddenly feel cool when they discover they can do something everyone with just a little knowledge of computers already know about.

 

By the way, it bugs me how major services haven't switched to IPv6 yet.
