My Brony persona exposed

I had an interesting time this morning, i left the MLP forum on my laptop at work and when i logged back in after lunch some jerk saw it and proceeded to tell everyone. I found myself defending myself to alot of people but i dont deny what I am to anyone.

Still dont know how i feel when i walk down the office. They treated it like some dirty sick little thing they had found out about me. Its been an hour now and nobody is mentioning it anymore , well not to my face.

As anyone else had similar experiences ?

My dad keeps looking over my shoulder whilst I am on MLP forums (he is doing it right now)... he has no idea. Thank God for stupidity and ignorance ... (yes he has even seen my MLP commision artwork, and still has no idea. He doesn't even know I like MLP)

I am sure he is proud of your artwork skills and you as a  son in general. I always try to encourage my sons to do whatever makes them happy and explore all sides of life.

"If you are bias enough to dislike me liking a show, that isn't being watched by its target demographic, I don't think I like you."

You could say that xD

Personally I would just pull out the logic cannons and let 'em have it, but you may do things differently.
Maybe because they aint mentioning it, its a thing they want to get over with, nobody actually really cares about you liking the thing, being not very important in the grand scheme of things. To be as petty as to hate a person for what they watch is thankfully, not most people within the middle class work environment. Due to them having to be reasonably intelligent to get there. Of course there are exceptions.

I'm sorry to hear that. If they're smart and mature enough they'll drop the whole thing and leave you to enjoy what you love. Everyone is entitled to their own likes and dislikes, so just ignore the ones who will judge you for it.

Haha I've never been caught on MLPForums at school, but I've had some close calls

Not that I'm ashamed of you guys or anything, but I just prefer to keep my internet life a secret. But also I'd probably get some awkward questions and being 18 I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea about me :P

Yeah, my dad and my friends reacted poorly when they first found out. I just treated it like it was no big deal, and they don't even talk about it anymore. In fact, unless they already hated you, I find that most people only really care when you make a big panic out of it... like sharks.

Well, I'm a girl, so people kind of expect me to be in the demographic, even though I'm an adult.

Unfortunately there's not a whole lot you can do if they're not overtly harassing you. If they do harass you, though, you could try reporting it to your manager. It's your manager's job to make sure that their employees are all safe.

It's funny thinking about how they're being so judgmental, though, when I'm sure at least a few of them have some out there interests, or one of them might even be into MLP themselves.

While I've never had something like this happen to me personally. I have had to defend myself and my opinions against the onslaught of stupidity and ignorance that came from my fellow classmates back in High School. Ultimately, it came down to this one point where I just said "If you can't look past the fact that I like this show, then we no longer have any business together so, with worst regards, rack off!"

And, well, it worked.

Don't let people dictate to you what you can and cannot like. You're a free person who is more than capable of enjoying whatever they want.

I have my computer facing a wall, away from the door, and usually act in a hostile way that tends to deter my mother from entering the room very often. When I'm working on something, I loathe being interrupted. And I'm almost always working on something.

Although I pretty much keep everything a secret from my parents. They aren't like normal human beings and don't have much of a concept or understanding for most of the things I like. I wouldn't really care so much if they found out about MLP specifically, but they were always rather negligent anyway and tend to forget things they just learned in fifteen minutes. (Attention span of an animal.)

As I rarely leave the house, I don't have to deal with anyone else looking over my shoulder. I live in a small room with a person I met from these forums, so obviously, he knows and I don't have to hide anything.

If only some basic knowledge about bronies could become widespread enough, maybe people would stop assuming that if you like MLP, it must mean that you lure little children into your unmarked van with promises of candy.
