I watched this earlier today. It was ok, i didn't realize it was a dream until Applebloom woke up. I do wonder when all three will get thier cutie marks.

EHHHHHHHHHH WRONG! Once a foal gets their cutie mark, they're always be friends until the end. Because friends don't abandon each other. Just like the Cutie Mark Crusaders, they can even help other ponies find their cutie marks as well. "Well, you can't be a Cutie Mark Crusader if you've already got your cutie mark.." well you're Wrong, Scootaloo! Being a pony with a cutie mark, does NOT change you at all. But when Sweetie Belle said that "the clubhouse is for Crusaders only", why not start a division in the CMC clubhouse (involving Blank Flanks and ponies with cutie marks doing various fun things (not involved in searching for a cutie mark). Good idea. 

 

But...when Apple Bloom said that "a cutie mark won't change who we are or how everypony feels about us" does not change anyone at all. They're still them inside no matter what. If they're a Crusader or not, they can be still be friends right? Plus, SB did say that "We're lucky we're all scared of the same things. That way we can help and remind each other to just be who we are!"

Remember it was a nightmare. AB only dreamed/heard what she FEARED. which was her friends abandoning her

I just have to say, this is probably the best CMC episode I've seen to date. Also, you know it's a dream when Big Mac talks a lot. The lullaby Applejack sang to Apple Bloom was adorable as well.

If you look at the lyrics of the song Doom and Gloom some of it can be put into what happened in Bloom and Gloom! Plus the names match!

As an example-

I saw this as when Applebloom was sleeping/all sad and Luna appeared and helped her.

It had great visuals, an intriguing story, a good moral, good pacing, frickin' LUNA. I'm not sure there's even anything I have to complain about.

My comments for each progressing episode this season....I cant even.

 

Every single episode, I have the feeling that its a little like another movie or book or something. First the premere makes me think the writers have read Animal Farm from George Orwell. Well, maybe the 3rd episode didnt... But this feels like Edge of Tomorrow for some reason. 

 

Other than that, it was quite well done. A lot of feels too, it does link to a lot of our daily things we worry about sometimes, which I feel is the essence of why we watch MLP to begin with. Little parables to remind or show us how to handle things we face.

I really liked this episode but I knew it was a dream the whole time. If the developers actually gave the CMC their cutie marks, they would not be as interesting. All in all, amazing episode, the CMC are my favorite background characters in MLP        <------(Me)

Luna's voice , but the whole scene was fantastic.

 

 

   Now I really like Princess Luna in this episode, her voice sounds more contemporary yet pleasing to the ears.

 

 

Is it just me or did Luna's voice sound different too?

Luna's voice sounds so unique and we don't hear her very often, so it just sounds different to me in general compared to all the other voices on the show and in cartoons in general, whether she is excited, angry, hammy, or calm....

 

*checks Luna scene again to see if it sounded like Tabitha may have been phoning it in/having an off day...

 

Naw, she wasn't. She wouldn't slack off on her Luna voice on the pretense that Luna is just some goofy side character that doesn't matter much which many VAs are guilty of doing even for main/major characters. I guess maybe Luna's accent is not as exaggerated as much because she has had more time to adjust to modern Equestria now that we are in Season 5.

 

Her voice may sound like it has different intonations because this lesson just wasn't as urgent as the other two, "face your fears" and "I was jealous once also".

 

I'm still liking the CMC voices here. They are still cute.

 

Also, the rotating camera animation of Apple Bloom near the end was fantastic. Does Flash animation sometimes use polygonal 3D models? I've seen this bumpy, roundish effect before, such as when Spike was singing in part 1 of "The Crystal Empire".

'Tis the Catch 22 with any great child actor/actress or child VA; inevitably, they will grow up, and certain qualities about their earliest work can never be captured again.

Ms. Corlett is a good voice actor of course. I wonder if it means she isn't a great one since the great ones can make their voices sound the same? Either way, I am disappointed that the fillies are starting to sound weird. It's starting to take me out of the experience when I'm watching them. And this episode proves this most of all.

Hence why I said great child VA.  I don't think it's ever particularly fair to compare child actors/actresses, especially voice actors, to their adult counterparts based on the same exact standards, namely because you have to take puberty into account.  I'm sure that there many among the great adult VAs who can't do voices that they used to be able to do before they hit puberty; the ones they can do, impressive as the range of voices is for many such as Tara Strong, they spent years training to do.  So yeah, I don't think it's exactly fair to say that Claire's just good and not great for her age group among VAs just because she doesn't have the same range that many professional adult VAs who have trained and worked in this profession for years have (and who also have the benefit of working with a vocal range that isn't constantly changing as a result of puberty).

I thought this was a long-overdue episode for Apple Bloom, very well done. It's not the best of the Luna/Crusader episodes (which is still Sleepless in Ponyville as far as I'm concerned), because there's not much driving the narrative beyond reiterating the fears Apple Bloom already told us about, but it was definitely interesting and fun.

Really enjoyed this one - I love psychedelic, existential stuff so of course I'd love it. The only question remaining is which sci-fi film MLP is going to rip off next. So far we've had 1984 and Inception - anyone up for MLP meets Minority Report starring Tom Cruise? In all seriousness, a (very) dubious leak of episode titles lists one titled 'Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?'. As many have pointed out, this is a reference to 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' - the book which Blade Runner is based on. We can hope, right?

I don't know whether these have been pointed out or not, but this episode had references to three other films as well:

 

1) Apple Bloom's brief tenure as a pest pony had resemblance to Ghost Busters.

2) The way that Apple Bloom seemingly kept going through the same day continuously only with a few differences seems to have been taken from Groundhogs Day.

3) Somepony else pointed this out to me, but the dream realm that Princess Luna took Apple Bloom into looks reminiscent of the scare floor in Monsters, Inc., what with all those doors.
