Well, so I didn't like it. But then, I wasn't really expecting to. To me, it kind of felt like a bunch of inside jokes that I wasn't in on. I can only imagine how kids watching this might have felt! It was specifically made for bronies and, well, I guess I'm just not enough of a Brony. Lol. I also have never watched, nor do I have any desire to watch Dr. Who, so his role in the episode was totally lost on me. Derpy was okay, but her old voice was better. Lyra and Bon Bon would have interested me more without the convoluted back story. Just as best friends arguing would've been cool, I think.

The only parts I legit liked were Celestia/Luna arguing about who's turn it was to bring a present and Shining Armour crying. And any parts with the Mane Six, of course (especially when they got locked out of the wedding). Maybe because those are at least characters I have some knowledge of. Plus, Luna and Celestia acting like a typical pair of sisters was nice. I guess Octavia/Vinyl's song was kind of nice, too.

So, yeah. It wasn't a total bust, but I don't think I'll be watching it again any time soon.

The episode was pretty good.

By the way, did anyone else wish that we could have seen "Bon Bon" lay the smackdown on the bugbear? I mean, seriously what happened? She went to take care of it, and the next time we saw her, she was coming in to say that the mane six had beaten it. Pretty disappointing, I have to say.

You're not the only one. I fucking LOATHE the bugbear thing.

Then I guess you're happy it's gone. I didn't have an opinion on the Bug Bear, other than it looking like something from The Last Airbender or Adventure Time.

Yo! I'm Shenron00, but you can call me “Shen” if you want!

Thanks to WheatleyCore for the sig! BTW, yes, I do realize that's Carnage and not Shenron.

That was fanservice nirvana. It was just nonsensical and ridiculous enough to deliver on the hype. I mean, let's be real, an episode like this couldn't have worked if it had taken itself seriously.

If there's one problem I have, it's that things seemed to focus a bit too much on Derpy, the Doctor, and the donkeys. I mean, we were just hit with the major revelation that Bon Bon was a secret agent, and they cut back to the Doctor bowling with The Dude?

Lol, okay.

Well that was something. I think it was ok, it got some laughs and chuckles out of me and I appreciate what the writers were trying to do. But I found the constant fanservice rather annoying. I found some of it even cringe-worthy, especially the scene with Vinyl and Octavia.

I liked Derpy, she was really cute and I'd love to see her have more prominent parts in the future. I was also happy to see a number of other characters coming back briefly, like the sea monster from episode 1, Steven Magnet. Luna and Celestia's little spat was adorable. I love seeing them with more personality rather than always seeing them so regal and refined.

Some references and memes made me chuckle, especially the Twilicane. So glad that was randomly included in there.

As for the story of the episode itself, I think it was pretty bad. I think anything would've been better than a wedding between some of the worst background characters in the show. Not to say the episode was actually bad, but plot wise, it wasn't good.

So, obviously one of the big points of this episode was the Dr. Who stuff. I've never watched nor do I ever plan to watch that show, so everything went over my head except the English accent and the time machine talk. Another big point was the Lyra and Bon Bon stuff. I have no idea where the secret agent stuff came from, so I just kind of rolled with it. I thought it was sort of funny. The "We understand some people like to ship these two but since this is a children's show on a children's network, this is the best you'll get, sorry" was definitely hammered in there. But I suppose that won't stop the shippers anyway. Lyra's voice was sexy though.

All in all, I'd probably give this episode a 6/10, maybe a 7. It was alright, but overall underwhelming and kind of eh. I guess there is such a thing as too much fanservice.

As for the people saying this is the best episode ever and anyone who says otherwise is a terrible person, please stop. We all have opinions and we all need to respect that. Just because you pissed yourself over this doesn't mean someone who didn't is an "ungrateful fan".

Speaking of him, I'm a bit disappointed they didn't call him "Button Mash" in the episode, but it's already a good thing he appeared...

As pandering as this episode is, I can forgive the staff for it seeing as reaching 100 episodes is a milestone few cartoons fail to reach these days. These guys have worked thousands of hours bringing stories that reach to both kids AND adults. And despite what the critics and the trolls have done to hold them down, they always find a way to bounce back. Today's ep should be not just for the fans, but the people who make it happen. Well done, DHX.

Hey, yeah! Bon Bon went on and on about how terrifying this beast was and how it escaped from Tartarus and yadda yadda, and yet I'm pretty sure that despite seeing flashes of it being fought, the thing was defeated off screen. Unless I missed a scene of the Mane 6 standing over it's unconscious body somewhere.

I mean, I know it was just a thinly veiled reason to get the Mane 6 out of the way, but I would have at least liked to have seen some kind of conclusion.

I'm saying that instead of burning headcanons, they're cultivating them and making fanworks grow like crazy. Whether they're bad or good is up to the fan.

Exactly!!! You got that one right brasjo! ^_^

Honestly, was this episode fan pandering? Yes. Lot's, and lot's of yes.

But you know what? If I knew nothing about this show, and watched this episode...I'd still find it funny. That's why this episode doesn't really bother me. Even without knowing all the references I still think this episode would have been enjoyable, being able to understand them all only improved on the experience, it didn't take anything away.

I disagree, actually. If you didn't have a clue about the fandom or didn't know about how the fandom portrayed the background ponies, you'd probably be extremely confused. I was sitting next to someone who didn't have a single clue what was happening the entire time and was obviously pretty confused and not really enjoying it. Oh well.

Anyway, I could go on a long rant but ultimately I sum it up to this:

This episode was fanservice galore. It was absolutely amazing. That is all.

I swear If I were in charge, I meant the CMC spin-off series, they would call him "Button Mash" in the first place and hire ShadyVox to do his voice...as part of my achieving goal/plan!!

What I liked:

- The Dude

- Lyra and Bon-Bon PAINSTAKINGLY EMPHASIZING "BEST FRIENDS" instead of being lovers.  I mean they say it so OBVIOUSLY that it's like the writers were trying to say "NO THEY ARE NOT LOVERS".

- I like how they explain Bon-Bon having two names

- Shining Armor and Cadance

- Celestia and Luna fighting

- Button Mash on the turntable

- Gummy contemplating life

- The Twicane

- THE EFFING CHANGELING

What I DIDN'T like:

- Steven Magnet at the spa

- Doctor Whooves's terrible accent.  The Doctor Who references, while appreciated, seemed forced rather than natural.

- Vinyl Scratch and Octavia living together.  It looks like Two-Face's house.

Overall, though, it didn't really seem like a real episode so much as a fan-made episode.

Oh my god this episode was AMAZING! Doctor Whooves was perfect, I squeed so hard when he said "Alons-y" and came with the 4th Doctor's signature scarf. Also the Big Lebowski ponies were awesome. The only part I didn't really like was Steven Magnet, I never really got why he was so popular, but to each their own I suppose. It's just his voice is kind of annoying to me, so I wasn't a huge fan. I did like what they did with the "I now pronounce you" line.

Overall, one of the best episodes out there 10/10.

It felt like the Hasbro executives were going "Hey, look, we know your maymays! See, Derpy is a clumsy delivery pony, isn't that funny! Doctor Whooves is talking about time travel! And Lyra is with Bon Bon!"

I cringed every time they made a reference to a meme. Eventually it got too hard for me to watch so I just walked away.

You're using the cringeworthy clothes from Rainbow Falls as an avatar. Your argument is invalid.

that is all

That is literally all

Even thought the episode quite literally confirmed "JUST FRIENDS" about 30 times.

When they hugged each other affectionately before the wedding and she said he looked like a million-bits.  I mean, some people could interpret that as just being really good friends, but the way she said it and the way they hugged, IDK, seemed like they were together together.

Pretty sure they're just really close friends, like Lyra and Bon-Bon.

Maybe it's just me then. The episode was fast and full of energy, the humor while based around a lot of fanon didn't feel like it relied on the knowledge of them to find these things funny. Bon-Bon being a secret agent, Gummy's internal monologue, and most of the character interactions felt like they worked on their own even without the knowledge of the fandom.

Though, thinking about it, there were some...like the changeling at the wedding, that would have needed some previous experience to get it, but that would just give me more incentive to check out the older episodes if I was new to the show.

Only one thing to say about this episode.

Congratulations to all those people who've written all those classical shipfics making Doctor/Derpy Lyra/BonBon and Vinyl/Octavia fanon!

It just been canonised.

You're right, I got them confused. They both wore scarves. I think I got it confused because of the Doctor Who scarf added for the Medic in TF2 and someone said it was the 7th's scarf when it's actually the 4th.

Except it wasn't

Roommates =/= lovers

Lyra and Bon-Bon just confirmed they are just friends - there's a reason they pushed that line so hard. To iterate they AREN'T A COUPLE

Doctor/Derpy is open to interpretation
