Need more Flash Sentry Episodes

Twilight is all grown up and it's now time to explore the relationship between Twilight and Flash. Maybe Flash gets into a pinch and Twilight saves him in a sort of reverse damsel in distress.

Flash is an empty character who simply represents Twilight's love interest ... completely lacks any form of interesting personality or traits xD

I think Twilight having a relationship is fine, but Flash needs to be completely redesigned or replaced.

Yeah, there's a lot of new lessons that can be learned about on relationships. How two characters personalities mesh is also good to see.

Applejack: Ooooh somepony's got a crush on the new guy

Rarity: *Gasp* She does she absolutely dooooes.

Yeah, not gonna happen. Flash is just too unpopular and really doesn't have any character to it(generic teen heartthrob) to warrant a full episode dedicated to him.

You can just be sure that if there was ever an episode surrounding him, bronies around the world would raid Hasbro Headquarters

They should just drop Flash. How about this idea? Twilight meets a young Unicorn stallion, and right from the start they begin arguing fiercely over things like the history of Starswirl The Bearded. It should move very slowly, take Twilight nearly two full seasons to fall in love with him.

I would like to see more of him, more of his personality. Right now, he doesn't really have a personality rather than the one that is supposed to fit building up Twilight's character in the EG movies. So it would be awesome to see more of his true personality, his own one.

How about a better idea? Flash gets in a relationship with some generic female crystal pony while Twilight never see him again and get over her crush?

How about a more interesting approach at her romance and actually more romantic? One examples of many is that young Starswirl travel in time from the past into the current times of Princess Twilight. He learn friendship from Twilight and help her with her studies. They fall in love and date. However he have to return to his times after a while.

The twist is that it was actually Twilight who impresses Starswirl to become the greatest mage and trying to become an alicorn in MMC just to become immortal and meet Twilight one day. So basically Twilight is the one who creates her own hero who motivated her to study magic. So you have an interesting twists and turns + complicated time travel relationship.

I doubt Flash Sentry will have much screentime due to negative feelings towards him, but it would be fun to have him guarding Twi's castle someday to make her life awkward

I'd say build on Pony Flash. I mean yeah I can understand how HUMAN Flash is unpopular but the Pony counterpart they haven't done anything with. He just had a couple of lines and that was that. Human Flash may have existed solely to be a love interest but Pony Flash is a background pony like Bonbon, Lyra, Doctor Whooves and Derpy. (Yes I compared Flash to them and no, I won't apologize!)

Keep in mind the Human characters to tend to be different from their Equestrian counterparts anyway so just because Human Flash was a poorly executed character doesn't mean the pony counterpart has to be.

At this point, I doubt that'll happen. Flash is the flattest character of the entire show (both the pony AND human versions of Flash), and his character is already complete. For a show designed to showcase three-dimensional, growing characters, he has no role beyond simply being Twilight's love interest.

I'd say build on Pony Flash. I mean yeah I can understand how HUMAN Flash is unpopular but the Pony counterpart they haven't done anything with. He just had a couple of lines and that was that.

For characters like Human!Twilight in Friendship Games, the difference in character is expected. (Hopefully, they retain her essence.) But it's completely different with a character like Flash. As a pony or human, Flash has the very same personality and identity right down to the very same dynamic and dialogue when they bump into each other. If you change his characterization in the pony verse, then you're writing a different character under his golden fur, not Flash. An out-of-character Flash is an unnecessary Flash.

but Pony Flash is a background pony like Bonbon, Lyra, Doctor Whooves and Derpy. (Yes I compared Flash to them and no, I won't apologize!)

You're comparing apples and oranges. Flash Sentry is an important secondary character. The background ponies/students are made specifically to fill in the background. Edited by Dark Qiviut

You know,  I think expanding on Flash would be a good idea a bit!   Yah we he gets the hate and such but fans just hate him for stealing Twilight and it would be good to have one more strong couple minus Shine and Candy.   Also by giving him more scene time,  it gives the hater more reasons to post!  :proud:

He’s a ball of innumerable positive stats that’s slowly rolling along in the EQG plane, doing absolutely nothing remarkable. He drives a fancy car and is most probably well off. He plays a guitar in a successful garage band. He works out and is very athletic (according to them buffed dolls). He's Mr. Popular (dated ex-Miss Popular). He is quite smart and helpful. He sports a sweet and caring personality with a pinch of that awwwkwardness that wells forth whenever he comes across the girl he likes (hint, it’s Twilight). Whoa there Flash, that's quite a lot of positive stats you're wearing. In fact, the way MLP team has endowed Flash reminds me of the way Riot Games had tried to solve the problem of melee champions at the dawn of League of Legends – They transformed them into gigantic balls of (positive) stats.

The problem with this approach is not immediately apparent, but quite problematic on the long run. Such balls of stats are impossible to put back in line without destroying their viability or without a complete rework, and a similar thing could happen to Flash. His character’s foundation is so utterly dependent on his positive attributes from EQG that removing them would result in his disappearance. Without these attributes, Flash Sentry functions as just another bland royal Stormtrooper with a slightly altered design and a few generic lines. We’ve already seen some of that in the series where there’s no high school environment to highlight these attributes, but lots of fantastic magical threats and friendship puzzles that far surpass the level of your average nice teen colt with a guitar and a pair of orange wings. Thus, a top colt in the human realm gets nerfed to a background pony back in Equestria, and there’s little MLP team can do about it without “buffing his stats” all the way up to the ultimate Gary Stu. On the other appendage, reworking him into a working, active character here in Equestria would mean you’d have to carefully add some negative attributes, then change and remove a lot of positive ones, lest the new Flash drowns himself in the sea of high school dream boy mediocrity, now with an inexplicable random range of shortcomings and abilities (that totally complement those of Twilight Sparkle). But all that character manipulation would also kill Flash as Flash, a misfortunate pony, heaving under the weight of his own bradness which has killed all chances for his natural character development.

TL; DR: RIP in Pepperoni Flash Sentry. My 2065 characters cannot trully explain my loathing of your kind!

Whats funny is that I actually am PERFECTLY okay with shipping and love interest: I love Rarity and spike, and I'd be really happy to see a Dash/Soarin episode or comic.

Its just I think that a love interest should be very organically introduced and be able to stand alone as a character if you were to delete them being a love interest. Spike would be a complete character if he had his interest in rarity removed, but if you remove Flash's love interest status, what does he have left? NOTHING.

That's the issue, he literally cannot support himself as a character without being a love interest, making him a parasite (essentially) dependent on Twilight to exist in the show.

How about instead of giving time to the walking cardboard cutout of a character, we give that time to Spike and write him decently?

I mean if you want romance, then how about a little focus on his crush with Rarity. You could either A) actually do something with them and have it be romantic and whatnot or B )finally end it but also teach the lesson that just because you feel a certain way about someone doesn't always mean they are going to reciprocate those feelings and it's okay to feel sad but that it's not the end and there are more opportunities out there and you shouldn't shut yourself out from them because one person did not share your feeling with them in the same way.

Twilight Sparkle who is about developing over time rich and deep relationships with other characters doesn't deserve the cliche love at first sight joke, Flash Sentry.

That sounds like something Steven Moffat would come up with. (But in a good way) He keeps messing with the continuity of Doctor Who!

Personally, his Human counterpart needs more character than Satellite Love Interest. Unlikely in canon to happen, but with fanon? Yes, there IS potential for him. I actually found one Fan Fiction on FIMFiction that turned Flash from a perceived cliche of a character into an actual person with a personal problem that, in some ways, I can relate to! It's called, "The Real Life of Flash Sentry" by TooShyShy. Link: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/277483/the-real-life-of-flash-sentry
