I remember when I was a kid then I was afraid of going to sleep because then I had nightmares very often.

Most of these nightmares were the same: To my bedroom was entering a monster which looked like Enigma from Dota 2  and or he was eating me or I was running into my balcony and I jumped from it and always my flat was on higher floor then normal (normal it was 8th floor). And that was almost every night when I was 4 years old.

There was this purple slime monster from a show called "Ghostwriter." It scared the crap outta me, I'm still afraid of it. I have to put it in a spoiler because I can't stand looking at it.

 

 

Also, it's weird, but I was really afraid of Pac-man too when I was young. We had it for NES when I was growing up; the ghosts and sounds scared me.

When I was little, I used to be terrified by the MGM Studios lion that showed up and roared at the beginning of each of their movies. I'm not scared of it any more, but it still does give me a bit of a startle whenever it shows up suddenly without me expecting it =P

Oddly, I used to be scared of when in a movie or TV Show, a character screams and their mouth fills up the screen.  I have no idea why but I constantly had nightmares about it.  Slowly, I grew out of that fear but sometimes it still makes me jump when it happens off guard.
