I feel like Amy won't hestitate to make episodes about mature themes, this episode included.

The dilemma of production conflicting creativity is not something I'm a stranger too. While I myself haven't been subject to this, many friends of mine have, and this episode touched them on a personal level, which is a HUGE goal to accomplish as a story writer. Very nice moral, very nice song, and very funny. (Especially the fat pony at the end)

 

Rules of Rarity is a very unique song. The transition from happy to sad is beautifully executed, and adds a very nice depth to the song.

The chords at 1:17 are honestly the best part of the song, and leaning to become my favourite part of any song in the show.

 

Overall this was a very nice episode. The moral was very mature and relatable, the song was one of the best so far, and SO MANY NEW MARES! Masterpiece of an episode, Definitely in my top 5!

I thought much of this episode was somewhat redundant after Rarity Takes Manehattan, with Rarity convincing yet another fashionista who doesn't "get it" to change her ways. Still, the dresses were glittery, the songs were above par, and the episode itself was fun, harmless, and visually appealing to look at. 7/10.

After I watched "The Cutie Map" again this weekend, I noticed, that one of the village ponies looks familiar for me. Maybe it could be the same pony. I would find it nice if she is the same pony.

I just noticed Rarity's Princess Dress has wings on it and is bought by unicorn mares so wearing it makes an unicorn mare look like an alicorn. They all want to be an alicorn -_-

I was surprisingly entertained by this episode! I really enjoyed Rarity finally getting her boutique in Canterlot, gave me fuzzies

 

I enjoyed the conflict with Sassy Saddles, the song was great and the dresses were all beautiful, 'nuff said

I would've watched this episode earlier but I didn't know the hiatus was over until recently. It was a great Rarity focus episode and a good start to the second half of Season 5.

Pretty good episode, not great. As much as Rarity is my #1 pony and I'm excited to see her realize her dream, I had problems really connecting with this episode at points. And I think it was because the ep seemed kind of confused as to what the conflict was until the second half. At first it seemed like it would be about Sassy Saddles undermining Rarity and trying to take control over the shop, but then in the middle it came to be about artistic integrity vs the role of marketing and business in commercial art. Which is a great conflict to have, I just wish they didn't lean in another direction in the first half. And while I loved the second half, I just wish that clash of art vs marketing was set up better.

 

Song was *great* though.

This is Suited For Success second part with the song Art Of The Dress second part.... Does it make it any less awesome? Not at all, second parts can be good too. The episode is fantastic.

 

I loved how they showed Rarity's dedication to her work. She doesn't only want ponies buying her clothes, she wants them to admire her hard work and creativity. The conflict was totally understandable and I'm guessing a lot of people could relate to that. Another evidence as to why Rarity is best pony.

 

I'll give it a 9.8/10

This episode is just TORTURE... 

 

It basically states that when you have an employee you don't like, don't bother hiring another... JUST CLOSE THE FREAKING SHOP!!!!

 

I guess it wasn't just any employee that Rarity didn't like, it was the manager. And rarity wasn't living her "dream" like she imagined.   But still she shouldn't have given up like that.

 

And must I mention, when she saw that Sassy Saddles had worded at 10 DIFFERENT BOUTIQUES  shouldn't that have set off some kind of alarm? I mean, I understand the experience part, but she couldn't hold a job. So disappointing...

My only issue with this episode was the song. Particularly with the fuss that's made about copyright issues etc when other people use their songs. Listen to one minute of this (particularly from 26 seconds in), then Rules of Rarity and see if you think it's just coincidence..

Good catch! I looked up Stop The Cavalry on Wikipedia and its melody was based on Swedish Rhapsody #1 and Mozart, but listening to those doesn't seem to bear nearly as close a resemblance.

 

I was rewatching an episode a few weeks ago and heard some incidental music that I had heard before in a computer game - note for note and instrument for instrument and concluded both uses must be from a music repository purchase. I was going to try to figure out which computer game it was but this road trip I'm currently on nixed that for now... (And now I don't even remember the episode!  )

Catchy song, catchy dress, and some feels. at first I wasn't sure on how i liked Sassy with her being rude and interrupting fashion Pony and forcing her to work on only one dress because the advertisement with Twilight's popularity as the new Princess was too strong for that one dress.. but then when they revealed that she was involved in multiple shops to fail and didn't want another failed business i felt that she was only doing her hardest so that she wouldn't have to leave another job in fashion. a good return from the lack of pony at the time
