movies/tv Which did you think was better? Big Hero 6 or Frozen?

While Frozen was well-made, and decently entertaining to me, it just doesn't compare to Big Hero Six. I loved the story, characters, style, setting, animation, action, and so on. It was significantly better than Frozen, in my honest opinion.

Frozen felt like it was trying too hard to be different. It was a nice concept, but I think it could have been executed better. Plus, there are a whole bunch of little things I nitpick about Frozen; they're just too numerous to let me enjoy it without thinking every five seconds, "What? Seriously?"

but I think San FransTokyo is just wrong, there is no way I can live with that.

I'm interested...what's wrong with it? It kinda sounds like a place I'd like to live in.

Yeah, it's a bit weird since it brings up questions about geography and history, but I like the idea of blending American and Japanese cultures.

Don't know why these two movies are always compared to each other...

Anyway, I prefer Big Hero 6, because I think the movie is more well written, has better characters and comedy, doesn't get boring after a while and I can actually remember specific moments from it.

I liked Big Hero 6 better, mainly because it had some better humor, a great concept, and characters that were entertaining to watch the whole time. I kind of wish the supporting cast had a bit more parts, but no movie is perfect.

While Frozen was generally good, it got tiring after seeing it a lot and some the bad parts of the film really do stick out.

I prefer Frozen a bit more. But they're both great complimentary opposites. One's an action film, the other's a musical. One's in the past, the other's in a technologically advanced future.

One core similarity though is the heart-felt chemistry between our two leading ladies in Frozen and a boy and his robot in Big Hero 6. If there's one thing that Disney does right, it's heart.

BH6 was an okay movie to me. It didn't leave much of an impact and it was pretty forgettable overall. Froze falls in the same spot, but Frozen's sidekick characters were at least a little interesting. BH6's sidekick characters? Nah. (And this is coming from someone who hated the goblin things in Frozen).

So I'm for Frozen

Without a doubt, Big Hero 6.

Not that Frozen is a bad movie, it's just... underwhelming. The motives felt rushed (I'm looking at you Hans), some things didn't make sense, and Let it Go did its job a little too well. It's a good song, but for crying out loud, sing something else for once!

Big Hero 6 handled the concept of death and motivation and lot better, and the villain felt more intimidating than Hans ever was. Not to mention a wonderful character diversity!

And come on, how can you not love that giant robotic marshmallow? He's a marketing gimmick I actually LIKE from Disney. Aside from Genie, that is.

I love both of them, but in terms of quality, writing, messages, and characters, Big Hero 6 shot Frozen out of the park.

Big hero 6. Frozen was HUGELY overrated in my opinion. Big hero 6 had better characters from comic relief to the villain. Fred may have had his irritating moments but was entertaining more often than not where as Olaf was an unholy abomination of annoyance. The villain was equal parts sympathetic and intimating without spoiling anymore whereas Hans was just kinda "Stuff it! evil now" it was painfully obvious that he was going to be evil or die with the addition of Kristoff as a love interest but still obvious or not it was forced as all hell.

"Let it go" loses its ability to salvage the movie when that's all you hear about the movie. The setting and world around the movie was better in BH6 and seems far more fleshed out; such an interested mix with the two cities and cultures up against Frozen's generic fantasy setting 22. Frozen just seems like a rushed cash cow. Granted it certainly worked if that's what it is it'd be nice if a little more time was taken than simply jumping from one plot point to the next.

Me neither. They are nothing alike.

One is a super hero movie, that had kind of a marvel feeling to it and the other one is a typical Disney Animated musical, that had fairytale elements in it.

Funny enough, I thought Hans was a much more effective villain than Yokai. A lot of the criticisms about Hans suddenly being evil out of nowhere fall flat for me because I saw his heel turn coming a mile away, and his reveal was much better than Callahan's, which I also predicted. You could've heard a pin drop in my theater after "If only there was someone who loved you", and I thought it was an amazing moment even though I knew it was coming, where the Callahan unmasking felt more Scooby Doo-ish :\. "Whoa, it wasn't the dude they thought it was :o. It was literally the only other unaccounted for named character in the film instead :o. And now exposition :o. "

-------

Now that I have that out of my system, I'll just run down what I think each film has over the other

BH6

Setting is amazing and was explored far better than Frozen's. The film in general was much more of a treat for the eyes with that flying scene and all the chases all over the hilly city. I can recall many gorgeous shades of orange  .

Hiro is quite possibly the best Disney protag, and his whole arc in general was realistic, inspirational, and outright awesome. And I know I ragged on Callahan quite a bit, but I thought he had a big part in making Hiro's development really work by serving as a foil.

Side characters were better than Frozen's, too. While there were a bit too many of them for any of them in particular to feel particularly developed, the group as a whole really worked.

Baymax, destroy

Frozen

Anna is also an amazing character, and one I found very relatable. Thought it was a nice twist on the bubbly, happy, naive princess waifu model to give her those characteristics because she's completely starved for human contact. And even if she isn't a STRONK RESPONSIBLE CAPABLE Disney girl like Tiana or Mulan, she still felt very human and overall lovable.

Would give the edge in music to Frozen too, if only because the only BH6 song I can remember is WE CAN BE IMMORTALS. And also because Idina Menzel's voice is great.

The montage at the beginning of the movie during Do You Want to Build a Snowman? was super emotional, and drove home just how broken the sisters remained throughout their youth. Something about the passage of time + things staying largely the same between Elsa and Anna was a real tearjerker :(.

---------

I'd give the edge to Big Hero 6, but still find Frozen to be very underrated.

It was just a general query to which on people preferred. Some give more in depth analysis such as character development and story, some on personal taste such as the genre. It can be answered either way, although for genre it would be a little more bias.

But I asked the question because I felt one was over shadowed and I think it was a shame because the characters felt more real to me and more relatable.

I personally don't favor one genre to the other. It depends on my mood at the time.

Big Hero 6. I liked it a little more than Frozen, at least.

Oh, and wouldn't it be a good idea to add in a poll for this thread?

I've been meaning to watch it. It's by the same people who did Secret of Kells right? :)

Yeah, same guy. (I haven't seen Secret of Kells yet btw.)

Go see it. It deserves more recognition.

I'd probably have to say Frozen. But I probably feel like watching Big Hero 6 more often because I sometimes just enjoy something less substantial and it's a very pleasant and relaxing movie to watch.

Both have something unique to offer and overall I'd go with Frozen for its songs, characters and overall quality (even though it does have its share of flaws as well). Both are good but Frozen wins.  :please:

I would have to go with Frozen.

While I do enjoy a lot about Big Hero 6 and find it to be a good movie, I was a little disappointed with it to be honest.

Hopefully the 2017 tv show will be able to fix some of its problems such as how the other members of the team that aren't Hiro or Baymax aren't really that interesting.
