how old is granny smith

I don't think they ever say an actual age right?

I think she's just reaalllly old.  Also we don't know life expectancies in the pony universe, so she could be hundreds and hundreds of years old and that would be just normal in Equestria.

I reckon it's just a continuity error, but I remember when I was first watching the series... In Suited for Success, when Spike's announcing the fashion show, he says something like how the elite of Equestria have been searching for decades - "no, *centuries*" - for the perfect fashion, or something.

At the time that did make me wonder... but maybe he was just referring to Celestia in that part.

She has to be hundreds of years old; her specific age is unknown. There are only to explanations I can see for the anomaly that's already been mentioned; It could be a continuity error or possible pony life expectancy is simply much longer. In short...the world may never know.

Yes, it's a bit of a continuity problem.  In Winter Wrap Up, Twilight says doing things without magic has been the custom for hundreds of years, but in Family Appreciation Day, Granny is revealed as one of the town founders.

IMO, Twilight meant it was an Earth Pony custom, not just a Poniville custom.

Most people seem to assume ponies live about as long as people (that is, age 100+ is possible) & Earth Ponies live the longest (as their magic gives them extra strength & endurance)  IMO, Granny is probably the last surviving Founder & The Oldest Resident (a title of some respect in very small towns).

Granny's official age is "10,000 years older than dirt"

We know Sweetie Belle celebrated her 5th birthday in that flashback in For Whom the SB Toils, and she was quite little then. However, we don't know how fast ponies age, or how long they live on average. In fact, we don't even know how old Sweetie Belle or any of the other characters are right now.

Going by the Granny Smith being one of Ponyville's founders thing, my headcanon is that ponies actually live rather long lives, possibly centuries long. Also because I'm not really fond of the whole Celestia and Luna being 1000's of years old and that their magic keeps them from aging. I feel that makes them too god-like.

In episode 100 Dr Whooves mentions a "lifetime of work, well centuries, really". So that adds a little credence to how long lived ponies are. Or possibly the year in Equestria is much shorter than Earth.

Considdering that the lifespan of an appletree is about 200 years with about 50 years of giving fruit in addition to the fact that younge granny was aound the mane 6' age when the apples founded the farm alongside ponyville she cant be that old. If we say the mane 6 are around 18-27 years of age that would make granny about 70-90 years old considdering a city takes long to reach the state ponyville is in i'd say she is at maximum 100

By My Calculations She Is Somewhere Between The Average Life Span For A Pony In Equestria (4608) And The Eldest Living Specimine that is mortal (119808) So possibly she is around 19800 human years.

No i will not write the calculus formula, because i have lost it in my many drawers.

Then again this is a childs show, so i may be very off in my calculus.

Also if i am correct, and everyone agrees, the time between showings would be many years in their world.

Also don't ask how i came up with the numbers. I can't remember.

I actually like her. I think she's underrated.

Then again, I love the whole Apple family in general.
