How's your driving?

I'd like to say not so bad, though my record lately hasn't been so great...

I put off taking the test until my sophomore year or so in college even though I had been driving on the road plenty before that. Took 3 tries to pass (flipping parking cones, I swear. Auto failure for hitting those. No one's gonna park right on the line, right? They wouldn't be able to get out of the car in the first place!).

To be honest, I've just never really liked driving. If I had it my way, I'd have a personal chauffeur take me everywhere.

Excellent to perfect driving. When I'm driving in public, I obey the law, keep my speed in the safe +10 km/h above the limit (10 above/below the limit is the pardon limit). When I'm on a closed track, then I destroy the car, track, tires, track records, engines. I always go over the top there.

Haven't been on a track in many years. I grew past that juvenile rebelious spirit

I was too tired while making this so I fussed up a lot of frames. Will fix if I can be bothered.

16 years, no traffic tickets, and only one dead deer.

I live in the English countryside, which is a maze of narrow, twisting roads that are mostly just tarmacked tracks from years ago. Those of us that use them on a daily basis learn one thing quite quickly: How wide your vehicle is.

That's how driving in New York City is...and it's terrifying. I learned driving the long open highways of Texas, so this has taken a lot of adjustment, but has made me a better (or at least more cautious) one.

I'm usually a pretty cautious driver, however once on the interstate I am all about speed(In my little Murano lol). Though my dad just got a speeding ticket and after seeing the disgusting online class/exams he had to take I may change my driving style. Road rage is non-existent, but my language is very colorful(For catharsis purposes).

Horrid. I actually still have my learners permit after all these years. I've just never had the need to go places. I took the bus to school. I walk to the store. I bike to work. I live out in the country, so there's nothing really to do. Stuff that interested me would come about every few months. Everything else, if we did as a family, I just hitched a ride w/ my folks. I never had a need to drive anywhere. Plus, no job to pay for such things.

But, now I have income to do such things. I'm an adult, so I freedom to do such things. I just have to work around other peoples schedules and inconvenience them. So, I am slowly learning how to drive for the first time in years. I can operate a vehicle just fine. But, I am not very good at the awareness part. I have to be super tensed and hyper aware of everything. It's hard. Driving is a very stressful experience. It's a chore, and a scary one. I am not comfortable behind the wheel at all.

I was told I drove fine. But it's usually a white knuckle trip the entire way. No music. No talking, except for directions. Everything else is just a distraction. I have to pay attention to so much. The speedometer. The mirrors. The road. The sides. All the cars around. Anyone on the sides of the road. The signs. I don't think I'm ever going to get comfortable behind the wheel.

My parents say that the freedom driving offers will be worth the efforts. But I don't think it will. I don't think the freedom is worth the chances of an accident or a ticket. The price of failure out weighs the rewards of success in this case. So, I may need rides for the rest of my life, living on other peoples schedules.

But hey, better than a crash, a ticket or always driving fearful for my life. Right?

I am good at it, but not perfect.

I have not been in an accident yet outside of the school course I took. Although while in the school course I mixed the pedals up while in reverse and almost reversed into a pole that was behind us. Besides that I haven't had other problems while driving, but the fear and anxiety that I feel while driving makes me not do it very often. I try to avoid driving all together if I can.

Well I've been driving on the road since I was 15 (white slip); 16 (license).

I have a 2001 Ford F-150 with the 5.4L Triton V8.
I sometimes drive our family "show car" - 1989 Chevy Camaro 305 TBI.

I have been riding four-wheelers since I was four; currently own a Yamaha Raptor 350.
I have a motorcycle - 2001 Yamaha V-Star 650.

So, I have a fair share of experience with many different types of vehicles.

  • 2 years later...

I'm alright with cars and trucks, but my reverse game on box trucks needs improving. I only get to drive it about once or twice a month, but I'd still like to get better at it.

I first started driving when I was 15, with my learners permit of course. Didn't get my full drivers license until my 17th birthday, which was just about a month ago. So yeah I've been driving for about 2 years now, and I'd say I'm a pretty decent driver. I actually used to drive four-wheelers and go-karts as a little kid around my aunt's property. Nowadays I'm a bit of a speed junkie though. :lie: But I really ever only speed on open stretches of road, or only in the fast lane on the interstate. The fastest I've ever drove is 88. :sealed:

I've been known to go about 5 or 10 over the limit and that came back to bite me last Thursday. On my way home from Ohio, in the middle of nowhere Illinois, I never locked the cruise control back in after I got out of traffic and my mind was on other things and I wasn't paying attention to speed. There was no one, I mean no one else around. As I crested a hill, I saw a set of headlights turn on in the median. As I passed them, they pulled out and started following me. About half a mile up the road, bam! He started rolling discos. I pulled over and when I asked him what he clocked me at, all he said was "A lot."

That's my first moving violation ever and first infraction, too. So other than a little bit of a lead foot, I'd say I'm pretty decent. Fastest I've gone was in my Dodge. Got old Dashie up on the sunny side of 100. Won't say how sunny, but, sunny.:lie:

Oh wow  I haven't ever had that happen...yet anyways. Florida officers aren't as hard on you, but I still take caution around them. Looks like the two of us belong on the racetrack.

Yeah, really. I've been driving tractors since I was 7 when my grandpa taught me and as soon as he told me, "push this lever up if you wanna go faster," I haven't brought it back down. That's not the first time speed has caught up with me though. Just last time it wasn't a ticket. It was a hospital visit that I don't remember and a cast.:adorkable:

But hey, some smoke the pipe, some hit the bottle. But I get my fix, from puttin' my foot on the throttle.B)

Pretty good actually, currently have a perfect driving record. I also stopped two habits of mine while driving, going full speed down long roads, and racing other people. I told myself next time I can do this sorta thing is if they remove speed limits at night (which is unlikely), or when I get my badge and I'm chasing someone.

Well I'm not old enough to drive, but I suck at realistic car games so I'll say I'm trash.

Trust me, even with the realistic settings on it isn't the same, just similar. I feel you have a lot more control in real life than in video games, though it depends on what you drive.
