ManaMinori 4,145 January 26, 2016 Share January 26, 2016 (edited) Anyone remember back in "Sonic Rainboom", where Pinkie literally tasted the rainbow? Soooo, yeahhhh...why exactly are rainbows spicy? It was shown that they make the rainbows in Clousdale, but what could possibly be the ingredient that makes Pinkie- the same pony who can wolf down hot sauce drenched cupcakes, and Windigo ghost peppers, consider rainbows spicy? Is there even need for rainbows to have a flavor at all? Candies like skittles contribute to this idea and the general idea that rainbows aren't tough also makes people assume a rainbow wouldn't be spicy. Like the line from Rocky goes, "The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place, and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it". Rainbows, here are used as an antithesis to mean and nasty. So to sum it all up, you'll probably never get an official answer because there is no logic to rainbows being spicy. It was a gag done for comedic effect that played on the viewers expectations. Like when the anvil fell on Twilight's head. How did her skull and neck not break? The spell involved to run the machines to create the rainbow is as such as when ingested into the equus equestrius, the synapses do not interpret the magic correctly, for the rainbow was never intended to be ingested, and as the synapses linked between the taste buds and brain have clashes between negative charged ions, the pony brain interprets the taste sensation of "spicy", much like how the human brain does not know how to interpret capcacin's effect of opening every taste sensor, and we identify the confused brain signals as "spicy.". tl;dr: "EQUESTRIAAAN MAGGIIIC" - Adagio Dazzle -or- Because it's a visual joke.
