Zantetsuken 364 February 15, 2016 Share February 15, 2016 23 now, got into the show when I was 18. I've told this story on other threads so I'll just give the abridged version here. MLPFiM came along at a dark time in my life when I really needed it the most and I believe the show shaped how I'am today in a large way. The brony community is great and while its not as pure as it was in late 2011 - early 2012 when I discovered it, it is still the most creative and widely accepting community I have seen, as well as the nicest.
CandyStrike 603 February 15, 2016 Share February 15, 2016 I'm an adult and have been since before FiM started. I remember I collected ponies when I was a teen (this was during g3) and I used to hide them when my friend came over. But once I grew up I just stopped caring what anyone thinks of me liking ponies. So no guilty pleasure, just pleasure watching ponies.

Fluttergirly 90 February 15, 2016 Author Share February 15, 2016 I used to watch it when I was a kid, so maybe around 7 when I watched the first movie? After a while though, I started to not like the animation and gave it up. When I heard that there was going to be another show after G3 I thought I'd give it a go since I liked what I was seeing animation-wise. I've been watching MLP:FiM since the first episode aired, now that I don't have cable though, I haven't been able to keep up and am probably a season or two behind... You're in for a treat when you do catch up!!
ChB 18,562 February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 (edited) I am 24 years old. I first heard of Bronies in another forum, where it was referenced in passing, in a humorous way. I then asked myself, "What are Bronies?" A quick google search gave me the answer, and I thought, "Seriously? There are grownups who like it? Well, I guess it's just a nostalgia thing..." In yet another thread of the same forum, I saw someone express their love for the show, even going so far as to start a poll of favorite mlp ponies. Even though the thread was met with much ridicule from most of the posters, it won my curiosity. At that point, I was like, "Alright, that's it. I'm going to try one episode, just to see what all the fuss is about." I watched the first two episodes, thinking it was going to be more boring than those anime series I tried getting into, but never could. Turns out, it was so good that it made me very happy and excited for the rest of day. Unwilling to become a Brony at the time (due to my preconceptions of the fandom), I tried holding off the other episodes, thinking that the passion would die out in a few days. As you can probably tell, that failed, and I now proud to be a Brony. As for the guilty pleasure thing, I've been a closet Brony for a while before disclosing it to my brother. He was very understanding. "Confessing" to one made it easier for me to confess to more of my friends and family members. I now don't mind telling others I'm a Brony, especially if they ask me. But as much as I love the show and want to share it with people I care about, I try hard to resist the urge to bring ponies out of the blue, which would only fuel the Brony stereotype and make all my friends think I'm more weird. Comic Sans 401 February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 * i'm 26 and i can't remember exactly when i got into it. i think season 1 had either almost finished or possibly already finished by the time i watched it. * i started watching it because on an old forum i used to visit, there were a few members who had pony gifs as their avatars and as signatures. i saw one of twilight and because of her hair, i thought it was stocking from panty and stocking. i hadn't finished watching that show at the time, so i thought maybe it was an episode i hadn't seen yet or something. * when i found out it was mlp, i was very confused, but i liked the animation from the pictures i had seen (specifically, pinkie's breathing animation when she's stood on the table in the bridle gossip episode) so i decided to watch it. i felt super awkward at first, but found the show to be very pleasant, so i stuck with watching it.
Spanish In Physician 295 February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 I started watching the series mid way into season 1, which was back when I was 18, and initially it was on a bet. The show was wildly popular across the internet and my friends and I would usually find some stupid thing to make one another do when failing a challenge, this was often to kill boredom mind you, and I failed. The consequence was watching a full hour of the show. It was something funny and torturous back then, as I was not looking forward to it. I didn't believe a show about pony's could be interesting, but I was wrong. Haha. Anyway, I watched that first hour and decided to watch more, given that the show wasn't bad. Thus, I became a brony, and now still have a special place in my heart for the show. 1 Sig by Kyoshi
KatonRyu 1,033 February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 I'm 25, started watching the show when I was 21 (or maybe I was still 20, I'm not entirely sure), between Seasons 1 and 2. I got into it through TV Tropes, because I couldn't believe MLP had a listing on the Crowning Moment of Awesome page. I looked it up on Youtube...and here I am now, on a forum dedicated to it.
Jokuc 8,174 February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 Nah I don't see why I should feel guilty about watching it. I'm usually a silly person anyway and besides I don't really care if my age is outside the target audience for something I enjoy. At first I was going to say that there's a lot of "kid stuff" that I enjoy but now when thinking about it I can't really come up with anything besides mlp haha I mean nostalgia cartoons and games like Pokémon doesn't count. Oh yeah I know! I love hide and seek! Haha but I haven't played it since I was a kid, kind of wish I could play it again soon..
PinkiePie97 913 February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 I'm 18 now but I was 16 when I got into it after reading about bronies online. I don't really consider it a guilty pleasure because I don't really care who knows. 1 Cartoon Info - A blog where I post info on cartoons I'm interested in writing about. Fluttergirly 90 February 16, 2016 Author Share February 16, 2016 Have just thoroughly enjoyed watching two EPs. One with Tank trying to hibernate against Rainbow's wishes. The other with the Griffins in their run down land... Lovely :-)
Gooddwarf 22 February 17, 2016 Share February 17, 2016 Well, I'm 21 and discovered the show just... more or less 4 months ago? Well, in october I think I've read of MLP accidentally on some forum, and since I didn't know what MLP standed for, I googled it. So I discovered there is a show, and also a rather adult male fandom. I was quite like "What?", so out of curiosity I decided to watch the first episode. And that was awesome. So I just begun watching the show, feeling more and more the need to watch episodes as I got further into it. And well, that's actually it At the beginning I was fully closet, now basically all af my friends know I'm a brony. I'm still not fully open about that (my family for example still doesn't know), but I just don't want to bring out the subject unless I'm asked. Why should I? And when it comes, I'll have no problem telling I love MLP.
alpinefroggy 451 February 17, 2016 Share February 17, 2016 started when I was 18 and now am 19. I dont think it would be as much of thing in in my life if other bronies my age existed. The interest of my age group really opened my curiosity.

Treeglow Flicker 13,936 May 15, 2020 Share May 15, 2020 I'm in my mid thirties and have been a fan since season one. I have no shame whatsoever in that. I still go back and watch old cartoons from my childhood, simply because I find them entertaining. When I'm old and grey, I'll definitely still be watching cartoons. I love the idea of being 107 years old, sitting in a big armchair and just watching reruns of My Little Pony and laughing like a mad woman.
