The best soundtracks come from Capcom, most notably the Ace Attorney series and Ghost Trick.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the Pokemon: Mystery Dungeon games have amazing soundtracks. This one feels so special in context with whats happening in the story.

I'd have to say the best soundtrack in a game is a tie between the doom games,or the fallout games.I still can't make my mind as to which one is better.On one hand you have the awesome metal sound that doom is know for.But on the other hand you have the classic soundtrack that Only fallout can bring.

In my favorite game of 2012, Spec Ops: The Line, this song plays both very early in the game, and very late in it. Its meaning seems to change soooo much by the end; at which point even victory seems like a hopeless reward on top of everything that's happened.

One of my olf favorites was the Timesplitters series. A kick-ass FPS based of EVERY time period. You could be a WWII soldier and go fight zombies in the old west, while using futuristic high-tech weapons like: A P90, a "electrotool" (electronic laser), laser rifle, ect.

 

Course, my favorite things to do, was to go to the 1950's chicago level, and fight cops and detectives and stuff as some mobsters. I remember my brother and I would always play as these two guys from the story that were a couple of jokers and always messing up, named Louie Bignose (left) and Braces (right).

 

But, anyways, the level Chicago had some slick, jazzy tunes, but there was an option called nightclub that was from the story when you engage on a mobsters house named big tony. It is the most fun to listen to when playing damn near any FPS games, especially BF3 on close quarters.

For me it was probably the majority of 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' OST, because it was the game that took up the majority of my childhood.

 

And Silent Hill 2, that had some good, creepy, emotional music to it.

I agree with you so much; The Sims 1 and a good portion of The Sims 2 soundtracks were gold. I listen to them almost every day
