Foo Fighters vs. Nickelback: Which one is better?

Which band do you prefer, Foo Fighters or Nickelback?

 

I think both of them are a bit generic/formulaic in their songwriting, though FF is less so. I haven't listened to as many Nickelback songs as Foo Fighters songs, so I may be a bit off.

 

I also hate Chad Kroeger's raspy singing voice. It seems very fake and forced, like he's trying way too hard to imitate a grunge singer. On the other hand, Dave Grohl's singing voice is very dynamic and pleasant to listen to.

 

The Foo Fighters aren't the best band in the world, but I like them much more than Nickelback.

 

So what's your opinion?

When I was younger I enjoyed Nickelback, but not so much anymore. Now I listen to those crappy songs, every time I do it makes me laugh. (Sorry). I do enjoy the Foo Fighters, however. I can see why you'd think they're generic, though I still enjoy them.

There's one song of Foo Fighter's that I enjoy (Everlong). However, Dave Grohl is a generally awesome human being, so points for that.

 

That said, as bands, they both suck.

I like Nickelback more than I like the Foo Fighters. I like some songs from the Foo Fighters, but I just like Nickelback better.

Ahem...  I'm a giant Foo Fighters fan, to the point I can recite the lyrics to all 140+ songs the band have released over the past 20 years... So I think it's safe to say I prefer them to Nickelback 

 

Coming from someone who's seen the Foo's live, they are on of the best live bands going at the moment (Slight bias opinion lel)

I think Foo Fighters and Nickleback are not a good comparison. Nickleback isn't as bad as people seem to make them out to be, but they are not nearly as good as Foo Fighters.

 

Foo Fighters are also way more respected among other musicians. Nickleback has become kind of a joke in the music industry.

 

Foo Fighters are one of my favorite bands, so I would say I would choose them over Nickleback.

 

And also Dave Grohl is probably one of the coolest people in existence.

They aren't my favorite, but I can tolerate Foo Fighters. Saw them live once and it turned out to be a pretty good show. 

 

When I was younger I did like Nickleback, but I grew out of it. And some songs I got very sick of after endless repeats on the radio (looking at you 'I Wanna Be A Rock Star').

 

And I get the hate. They're repetitive and appealing to the lowest common denominator of rock fans. While FF sound genuine and Grohl is a saint in the music community, Nickleback just reek of commercialism. They are this generations pop rock glam act. 

 

If you need further evidence as to what's wrong with Nickleback, then give this 'one' song a listen.

I have not heard that many songs by either band. I don't hate them. The few songs I've heard, I like.
But I know Dave Grohl is one heck of a great guy. So Foo Fighters takes a slight edge for that reason. Unless the lead singer of Nickelback is an equally nice guy, then it would all balance out, but I haven't heard anything.

I don't think Nickelback is as bad as a lot of people say – I find them quite average (with a couple of songs I like).

Though I've never really gone through either discography in detail, I've liked many more songs from the Foo Fighters, so it's an easy choice for me.

Tough, but I'd say Foo Fighters are better. Main thing is that Foo Fighters just isn't that interesting of a band imo. They have a few good songs, but no truly great, classic albums. Compared to the other projects and bands Grohl has been on (Nirvana, Them Crooked Vultures, QOTSA) they're very underwhelming. I do think they're a more interesting band than Nickleback, though. And Dave Grohl, as an overall musician, is definitely better than Nickleback.

For me it's not really that close. Foo Fighters >>> Nickelback. I do not think Nickelback are horrible like some say, I find them to be only ok. Foo Fighters on the other hand are excellent, and while most of their music is not particularly challenging or inventive, they hit a sweet spot for me with their quality production (guitar tone, drum sound and tightness, etc.), Dave Grohl's voice, the energy of many songs, and meaningful lyrics for many as well. I also have quite a bit of nostalgia for them, as I first heard them via Rock Band 1 and learned much of their music through subsequent games and their DLC. Those games are very special to me, so yeah, that helped a lot too.

I like both bands. I remember there were a lot of trolls who said they hated Nickelback. Nickelback has some bangers that are slept on.

If you run a google search, did you know that Nickelback has actually sold more albums than Foo Fighters?! I did not know that until right now.

My choice is Foo Fighters, this late 90s rocker states that
