Dashie's dad is really her brother?

That scene where filly Dashie was in Cloudsdale, eagerly awaiting the announcement of the Equestria Games, and fans saw a rainbow haired stallion standing beside her....we all know it. And apparently, the headcanons are in, with fans assuming that that stallion is undeniably Dashie's dad.

 

But is he really?

 

A certain scene reminds me of a panel from an IDW comic . Here, fans also assumed that this pony filly Vinyl Scratch is standing on was her dad. But a comic writer said otherwise, stating that he's in fact, her brother

 

Could this be the same for RD? What do you guys think?

Personally, I think that's just a coincidence. I do think that's Rainbow's dad. He has that standard adult male body frame, so that's just what I assumed. If I'm wrong, well, whatever.

It's always possible, of course. If they are brother and sister, the apparent age gap is probably not that far off of Rarity and Sweetie Bell.

The cool thing is that we may find out soon enough. The Dad vs. Brother debate is fairly old though. A quick site search on here pulled up some blogs and topics dating back to 2013 with a handful stating that the unnamed stallion may be her brother. One even suggested cousin. (I also just discovered that there was some support for Rainbowshine as the mother - weird).

 

Personally I can see it going either way. We just know that its a family member. I'm hoping we get a proper name and a voice this go around.

I think it could be her father. I kinda want her to be an only child because scootaloo is her "sister" and it sets a nice dynamic. 3 with younger sisters. 3 with older brothers.....although Aj kinda upsets that BUT ANYWAY

Like "Rock lee" and "Might Guy" in Naruto, their appearance are similar as they share a close bond with each other and maybe He dyed his mane to represent and support Rainbow's filly years so she'll won't fill out of place.

No one knows, his appearance don't differ from the average stallion save his colors. We've seen foals and adult ponies with the same age difference between siblings and parents/child. Parent/child: background  ponies mostly, and siblings: CMCs with heir sisters

I am fairly certain that is her dad. I feel like if she had a brother that we clearly saw in a flashback, she would have mentioned him at some point. So we can assume that she never mentioned him because it was her dad and that would be par for the course anyways. Not everyone has a brother, but everyone has a dad.

Honestly it'd put her relationship with Scootaloo in a new light if she was an only child, as I could see them both growing up wanting a sibling due to missing similar experiences.

 

Also, just another thing I'd think is worth bringing up, but I also hope he's a single father, Rainbow seems like the kind of character who grew up with a single father

 Not really, it's not too big a deal to me, but in general I'd say it'd be good to at least have Rainbow be an only child. It makes some sense with her adopted-sibling relationship with Scoots, and do we really need yet ANOTHER suddenly out of nowhere sibling introduced? I think that's getting a bit old.

I hope we get an episode with Rainbow and Scootaloo this season. It's about time they further develop their relationship. I'm an only child myself but have a person in my life that I've known for about 10 years who I'd consider to be my 'surrogate big sister'. I don't relate to Rainbow or Scootaloo that well so their relationship could give me something to really sympathise with them about.

To add a bit to the conversation, I think it would greatly cheapen the Scoots adopted sister thing if they just dropped an older brother into the picture out of nowhere.  That would really be terrible.

Welp, without siblings, she never needed to fight for something, if she or a sibling gets something, so the parents could concentrate on her. Without siblings getting stuff she might wanted too, this could leaded to her beeing more egoistic, because she got what she wanted. She even got a castle home thingy. I think that the "mentor" status doesn't really mean he's not related to Dashie... He could be her brother/dad AND her mentor at the same time. I picture him as a flight coach who expects his young relative to follow in his hoofsteps... Or something cliche like that.

My gut says Dad, but knowing Hasbro they'll throw a curveball. She has a strong 'Only child' vibe.

We haven't really seen the families for any of the Pegasi, I'd have to assume that Earth Ponies have stronger connections to their families.
