So, Pokemon GO is officially out, here in Canada. I honestly haven't played a Pokemon game since Pokemon Stadium 2 on N64, although,I've followed it...vaguely...I'm kinda glad that they kept it to G1 Pokemon....since they're all I really know and it's jsut kind of a throwback to my childhood. I still have all my original Pokemon cards from the 90's....even some fakes and japanese ones.This app has kinda rekindled my like for Pokemon.

 

I've caught a fair few...although all common/uncommons...

I walked around a nearby lake/park yesterday for about 2 hours, dropping lures at all 4 pokéstops, and training up the gyms my team took over. xD
It was kind of dead before my lures, because there was a bit of inclement weather. :crackle:
But, you know what? I'm only happy when it rains.

I'm just so happy that I got a new phone today and thus, finally able to try the game out myself! I'm absolutely loving it so far. So much that I went for a 7km walk with my brother. It was such a fun experience, I really think that this game is going to make me go out more. 

 

It also seems like I named my Charmander after my boisterous cat. Alma, please be proud.

I caught a Poliwag, and the game froze at the screen with the Pokeball.

It obviously is, because there are simply too many people playing it, overloading their server capacities. You can wait until the first hype is over and everything works fine, but you'll lose time on the other people and progress slower than most of the people who play during this time. If you don't care about that, it's a viable option.

I'm really upset with Niantic and how they decided to give big cities the advantage. I live in a small town, there's only 1 pokéstop here and not a single gym. It takes ages to even find a pokémon. I've been playing the game A LOT since it started to work for me, but just because I live in such a small place I've only been able to reach level 6, that's dumb. People who play in the cities can spend one day and become level 10.. There should be more rare pokémon out in the country to balance it out IMO. It's stupid that the cities are full of mons but the countryside has none. And just because there's just 1 pokestop I run out of balls all the time, it's starting to get a bit lame

Honestly, I'd even love to see a JRPG element kick in. Rather than catching, you can fight and train your character... Maybe do it Blue Dragon style, set up an intro that sorts people into 5 different types of shadows or something, and then opening the game is just calling out your shadow, which is how you'd fight enemies and become stronger...

Jeez, I'm getting all excited about the idea, and we're not even sure if the possibility exists in the minds of Niantic employees. D:

15 pokeballs per level up is a starvation wage past a certain level, and should be raised accordingly each level to keep up with XP inflation!

I feel you, dude. Just recently I've just been able to get great ballz at level 12 at Pokestops. However, with so many items gained at certain levels and with most of the items having limited uses, ie potions and revives taking over half of your inventory when you rarely challenge Gyms, they should also try to expand your inventory space per level as well. Just yesterday, I wasn't able to spin some Pokesto discs because I had over 100 revives and potions in my inventory and only 20 Pokeballs.

Nah, I've got so many PB's it's ridiculous. 280PB, 34GB.

But I also usually catch in no more than 2 tries. xD

If you decide you want to burn some money at some point, you can raise both pokemon and item storage to a maximum 1,000 each. I'd say try to keep revives under 50, toss the excess. As for potions, if you train up your teams gyms, you can burn through those pretty quickly. D:

 

All that said, I also go to the front of my office a few times a day to collect from a pokestop, and there isn't much to catch out here without activating incense.

Those blue towers (without a pokemon on top) are called pokestops. You have to be close to it, and once you're close enough, the "box" turns into a pokeball shaped logo (you'll notice it) which you can tap. Just swipe the logo left or right several times and you'll get some items. You can reuse it after 5-10 minutes

 

Some commercial centers have LOTS of these pokestops, so those are a "must-go-to".

I've had this game for only a few days and I already see people with pokemon that have CPs in the THOUSANDS!!!! D: Meanwhile, I'm here with my highest CP pokemon being a Pigeotto with a CP of 957. T.T Also, majority of the pokemon I see with CPs over 1500 or even 2000 are either Lapras or Dragonite. Where do you find the Lapras and Dratinis? I want one. T.T
