What would you like to see in the show that you think is unlikely?

Personally, I can think of two things I want to see, neither of which are too likely to show up.

1. A failed attempt at reformation (truly failed, not zigzagged the way they've done with Discord), with a lesson about keeping one's expectations in check. Perhaps this should be part 1 of a season premiere/finale. I think Chrysalis would be good for this, considering that deception is part of her nature. If done well, it would be a good subversion of expectations. It might be too cynical a lesson for the show, though, and would be challenging for them to pull off without going against the Power of Friendship theme.

2. A "where are they now" episode, where we see how all the places with solved friendship problems are coming along. I'd especially like to see how Griffonstone has improved. I think this is somewhat more likely, considering the mention in "Stranger than Fan Fiction" of a friendship summit in Griffonstone, but it might be difficult to give the episode value.

The "failure to redeem a villain" Idea is one reason why I found "the cutie mark map" kind of refreshing; The fact that Starlight screamed at twilight to SHUT UP when she started on one of her preachy sermons was just PERFECT; someone who you just foiled's not going to want to just change their views in life due to a sappy speech, after all.

I always wanted to see an adult pony with no cutie mark be the focus of an episode. An anomaly like that is totally possible in Equestria and could have been a great Season 5 episode, but the writers seem to be overshooting that idea, and it seems less likely now than before.

Alright, what I'd like to see but think won't happen:

AJ to get a better rival than the flim flam brothers; I know they go against her honesty streak, but they don't really seem like good rivals to her specifically IMO. I'd rather have a pony with similar skills to her but an atithetical mindset than con artists. The flim and flam brothers honestly would work best as Character neutral antagonists anyways.

 

Wind rider and Lightning dust to turn out to have been related to each other.

 

The mane six all becoming alicorns in the movie or grand finale

 

Them codifying Earth pony magic more officially so its not so vague and virtually non-existent.

Well, they kind of did something like that in the comics, in that Twilight was surprised by being told by luna that Starswirl was basically Pinkie pie if she was a unicorn and not the super studious pony she thought he was.

That land the ponies all came from thousands of moons ago, that was cursed with the eternal Windego Winter. I want to see them explore that today. I want to see if it's either still stuck in the Windego Winter and if not, how it's come along after all those years. Random theory I just thought of, what if that land is now known as the Frozen North, north of the Crystal Empire? I want them to explore this.

 

I would also love to see a two-parter that has to deal with Windegos in general. It would be interesting to see how they do it, if they ever do. But, these two options, I know are kind of unlikely.

Cadance episode! Possibly one where we see that village she's supposed to have grown up in according to one official chapter book. But any Cadance episode, please, because she is best princess and I want her to be allowed more depth and development. 

 

Twilight struggling more with her princessly duties. Seems like they cause her a lot of stress, especially because she places such high expectations on herself. Knowing her greater responsibilities and her history of making bad decisions when under stress, it might also be interesting for her to do something really dangerous when faced with an especially challenging problem. Police state in Ponyville because of a security risk, maybe?

There's one particular Cadance episode I'd want to see. The comics already hinted at it. I'd want to see her origin story. I can't say much  without spoiling it, in case there are people here who haven't read it. But, there's a particular former alicorn that would be Cadance's mother.

An episode where Pinkie Pie substitutes for Cheerilee as teacher for a day, or perhaps at least a Crusaders episode with Pinkie Pie as the only member of the Mane Six to appear in that episode (usually for about 1-2 minutes of it).

silver spoon comes off as "mostly harmless" to me in that she seems to be a sycophan; I.E., she imitates a stronger personality that she associates with-- If Diamond tiara was a jerk she'd be a jerk too, but if DT acts nicer, she'll consequently probably behave nicer.

Pretty much says what I would've said to the idea, actually. Silver Spoon is a bit of a follower and tails DT wherever she goes and does whatever she does. However, I do want to see an episode with both those two, cause I am interested in their post-redemption selves. Part of me expects DT to occasionally act like she usually did, cause it's become second to breathing to her, but yeah.
