Anyone else ready for G5?

Don't get me wrong, FiM is great and all, and I love Pinkie and Rarity in the mane6 (and Spike), but its been running for 7 years and is starting to lose its freshness and appeal, to me. Having a fresh generation could increase the likelihood of old gen viruses (Minty, Toola Roola, Starcatcher, Firefly, Whimsy Weatherbe, Surprise) and newer ones, like Sunset Shimmer to be the face of the new main cast in g5. Along with new pony toy molds and designs to try out.

Anyone else kinda want g4 to end so we can see what's in store for a fresh generation?

At this point in time, I think it would be best to wrap up FIM.

All of the main characters have reached their main goals that they have been working for sense day one, and pretty much everyone who has been involved in the production of the series from the beginning have left to pursue other projects.

That and having a big budget film on the way, makes this seem like an appropriate time to conclude FIM and possibly G4.

Exactly, after 7 years I've gotten so emotionally attached to all the characters that it'd break my heart in pieces to hear that FIM was over. :(

But I feel sort of excited at the idea of having a G5 with Starlight (or maybe Flurry Hearts) as the main character! :ooh:

It doesn't matter who you hurt, if you're just proving you're the best.

I certainly hope not. :(  If G4 ends, I likely won't watch G5 (or if I did, I wouldn't be as invested in it). Even if it was good, I highly doubt it would compare to the amazingness of G4. I think it would be incredibly foolish of Hasbro to "fix" something that isn't broke, so to speak. G4 has soooo much potential!  :D

G4 could go in all kinds of epic directions. Personally, I hope that after the movie and with this Guardians of Harmony thing, Hasbro will take the show into a much darker and serious tone–more like the Season 4 and Season 5 finale were like.

G4 has an amazing mythological world, full of mythical beasts, magnificent ancient kingdoms, epic villains, and lots of new places to explore.

Back at the end of Season 2, during the episode "A Canterlot Wedding," I had high expectations that the show would take us on a much darker, epic, action-oriented tone and leave behind the slice of life style. But once Season 3 came around, my hopes of that were diminished. Season 4's action and serious-oriented episodes made me excited once again. What I saw was a general progression of "dark/serious" levels of each season, with each season getting darker and more serious than the last. Season 5 kinda broke that trend, but the Season 5 finale sort-of made up for that. (I haven't seen the S6 finale, so I can't say for S6 yet).

But in my view, G4 is only halfway in its progression to get more epic, serious, and dark (don't know how else to describe this xD). So if G4 quit, it would have quit prematurely. I hope that G4 doesn't quit so that it can reach its full potential.

The Mane 6 have grown into an amazing set of characters, I would hate to see them shoved to the side like that (let alone replaced). The Mane 6 are what make MLP so good. We have come to love those characters so much, that I can't stand the idea of parting with them for some "random new characters" who we don't even have the assurance that they will even be good characters.

Would definitely love to see a new gen eventually, as long as they have the same team at the helm or at least supervising, but I doubt anyone would make a new MLP as bad as the old ones after G4. I am sort of worried the animation style would change to CG or something though, but would be okay with it as long as the show was just as good as FiM...

They'll probably just change it to appeal to the other major demographic right now going on currently.

It will become My Little Pony Go! and become non-stop fart jokes.

Horrors.

I hope G4 sticks around for a while yet. They can stay true to what it is and still take it in new directions if they do it right. Have to wait and see.

I am making a bet we will get 10 seasons. I am confident I will be right. Be shocked if it goes over.

I personally side with those who think Friendship is Magic should be a wrap. Things in the show are beginning to piece together and become concluded (sometimes in not so well thought out ways unfortunately... *cough* S3 E13 *cough*). FiM will have little more to go off of in the near future. And for that, I feel FiM should be concluded. If My Little Pony were to continue, I feel they should come up with a new premise and new characters... and possibly a new Universe as well.

Same here I've enjoyed MLP G4 long enough, I wouldn't mind a complete change of ponies for once, a whole new cast and a fresh new look.

I've been pondering it, and due to some statements I have read and trying to figure out what they mean, I am now thinking they might change the show up after the movie. Not so much end it, as re-brand it and take it in a somewhat different direction... Staying true to it's roots and ideals, while still branching out in new paths.

No. As a person who really dislikes change, I'd be horrified to see some my favorite animated characters be gone. I feel FiM will last for quite a while before they move on. At least eight or so seasons. Also, I'd rather not see Flurry Heart or Starlight take the spotlight, as I really don't like either (actually, I do like Starlight, just not that much).

Given that MLP is a very relational show, I'm not wildly enthusiastic with the idea of exchanging a show with relationships that I already love for a fresh take.

That said, I'm optimistic about an eventual gen 5 and would give it a try.

Absolutely not. :okiedokieloki: Once G4 is over, I'm out.

I watched the fan community of the 80's Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon (I loved that show, man!) die a slow, painful death, being replaced--bit by little bit--by the CGI movie fandom. I am not looking forward to watching the MLP: FIM fandom go down. :(

So many people want FiM to end. I think we just analyze and criticize too much. If you just watch it to enjoy it and appreciate ponies like I do, then you definitely won't want to see it end anytime soon. FiM is what brought us here and brought us all together. No way am I ready for it to end, let alone be  replaced by G5 which has a chance of becoming like older generations but with newer cartoon aspects, like...trying to be hip and stuff. And then all our beloved characters would probably be replaced like with all the other generations. ;(

So basically, nah. I'm not ready for it to end and nor will I be ready for it to end any time soon. :D <3

I expect there will be a gap of at least a couple of years after the end of G4 before we get a G5.  One thing that will be interesting to see is what lessons Hasbro will learn from the unexpected mass appeal of FiM.  I have no doubt that they will try to replicate the success across a much wider age gap but I do wonder if tinkering with the format to accommodate the older fans (as well as the male fans in general) will end up ruining that which gave FiM such a broad appeal in the first place.

I'm on no rush for G4 to end, there is plenty of mileage left in it, although it would require a change of direction to prevent it from overstaying its welcome.  That being said, I do look forward to seeing what the next installment of the franchise will look like.

I've never encountered anything like this before: A fandom that's obsessed with seeing the series they're currently watching come to an end as soon as possible.  I've also never heard anyone outside of this fandom go, "Gosh, I sure hope this iteration of the franchise (that many of us weren't even remotely interested in before now) ends soon so we can get to the subsequent iteration already."

As it stands, I really don't give a shit about G5.  My curiosity and enthusiasm for past gens is comparatively greater than my interest in G5 right now.

I would like if they did something along the lines of a G4.5. If they keep the animation style of G4, but introduce new characters to become main ones (like some are suggesting here), I think it would give the franchise a breath of fresh air.

You know, it's very unlikely we'll have FiM characters in a potential G5 show . We don't have to change generations for a new show nor focus on other characters, at most we can do is make a bit of artistic revamp, like they did with G3.

G3 was successful at first, and they've made at least to artistic changes without moving to up a generation, known as G3.5. I don't see G4, which is WAY more successful, to do so the same at least once. I think is a good idea to keep the brand fresh

Still, if that were to happen, I believe we should wrap-up the Mane6 and make a new show with new protagonists, either new, old, or both. I vote for a timeskip and make older CMCs the protagonists, and MCFlurry a secondary protagonist role, like the CMCs are currently

*insert DT double chin face here* re. Those two as main cast in g5 would undoubtedly turn me off from any g5
