Don't you think by now Celestia and Luna would have had some children?

Possibly? They could have had children a while back that died for all we know, or maybe they have some reason for not ever having children. The only real relationship we've ever had with one of them was Celestia/Mirror Sombra from the comics, and they didn't seem to have any foals.

Twilight is best pony.

Why hello MLPForums! What have ya been up to?

Certainly -- although not in a very long time.  I don't see Celestia when ruling alone with the game face she has had to craft and endure over the past thousand years had enough guaranteed free time to have a pony reach behind the visage.

This is a really interesting question because I don't recall the show ever stating that they never had children. Though I doubt it, it is possible they did and simply outlived their progeny since it isn't directly refuted.

I'd love there to be an episode of it. Maybe one of them comes out as a villain who knows.

Hasn't the show said that Prince Blueblood is some... progeny of Celestia's? A younger relation one way or another the way his prince-dom is brought up and he does look rather like her too boot.

I would think one would be hard pressed to go a thousand or more years without forming some form of relationship that would result in a child. Trouble is, one child she had a good eighty or so years ago could have formed the entire lineage of Canterlot by now! I like to think that all the pompous aristocrats of Canterlot like bragging that they're tangentially related to one of the princesses, but as the two of them (maybe three, if you count Cadence. She on the same immortality level the Sisters are?) have been around for so long that its neigh impossible to pin these things down past the past couple decades. Sort of like how its the same deal with the Apple Family, they darn near make up half of Equestria's population of Earth Ponies!

Beatings & Salivations Everybeing!   Creativity is something blatantly important to me as is no doubt evidenced by the 28 OCs I have posted here of the some forty plus I have, they're linked altogether at the bottom of my About Me page in my Profile & I would deeply cherish anything you wish to say about them! Among which of those I am proudest most of is my Draconequusona, His/My Ask Thread  and my Hydra, Gallimaufry or "Mauf" and their own Ask Thread!  Either way, sufficed to say, I am quite confident I have more OCs than you! Crazier to! Do You have a tatzelpony?! No, I rather think you don't! Hew-Hew-hew!

Luna and Celestia's biological age is probably pretty wonky, given how Luna appeared to be the pony equivalent to a teenager when she was first stripped of Nightmare-ness after being imprisoned on the moon for a thousand years. And yet in the flashbacks of their fights with Discord and Sombra, she had a similar appearance as now. It gives the impression that their current physical appearance is not exactly what it seems.

Well the primary function of reproduction is to continue the species and your own continuity after a fashion, to pass on your knowledge to a descendant. Since Luna and Celestia don't age as far as we can tell, that first point is moot. As for the second point, Celestia's already got that covered by taking Twilight under her wing.

According to the writers, they neither married, nor had foals.  how over a thousand year-old ponies didn't had any of those is beyond me ; I mean, it's not like the Mane6 are the only interesting ponies they've met :dash:

They could have had children a thousand years ago and then they died. There is no reason to think their children are immortal. And they might have lost touch with the decendants at some point (Luna expecially would).

As the co-rulers of Equestria, neither of them have had the time to settle down and start a family since ruling has effectively taken up all of their time. Also, considering how long they've lived for--this is especially true with Celestia--a special someone to them would have passed away a long time ago. Blueblood and Cadance are nephew and niece to the princesses respectively though Cadance is actually an adopted niece, so there's that distinction yet it doesn't explain Blueblood.

The episode where Flurry Heart was born, Celestia & Luna were astonished that she was born an alicorn.  This implies they've seen alicorns give birth before -to nonalicorn ponies.  Blueblood called Celestia aunt.  This means

1) Prince is a courtesy title, he is descended from Princess Platinum (for example) & aunt was a courtesy title. He just refers to Celestia as aunt because they are close

2) He is descended from Luna & just left out 1000 years worth of "great" when he called Celestia aunt

You are in definite Head Canon territory, but IMO it is not impossible that one of the senior alicorns had children.
