I have mixed thoughts about this particular shipping. When I was a little girl, I had a few crush's on characters that don't exist in the real world. As I grew older, I found characters to be good looking, but that's how far I took things. They aren't real, we will never be together. But, some people don't think this way.

Sometimes people get too attached to the fictional characters. They get so attached, they cut most social ties with the real world.

I don't care if people ship themselves with fictional characters. But, I think it can get unhealthy.

If I don't understand something or Interpret it wrong, I'm dutch. Sometimes I gamble for meanings of the words. And sometimes I write the wrong words, like week and weak for example. Sorry for it already. :smug:

"Meh"

You can do if it makes you happy in your own fictional world, but you shouldn't take it too far so it makes you unhappy.

I do it.

Because i have a fanfic going on in my head in my own mlp world that started 4 years ago when i was 14 or 13.

;_;

when life is a fabrication, what's wrong with fabricating a life? as long as the person enjoys their time, and it doesn't cause problems, its a major boost in my book...(compared to occult and zealot religious fanatics, as they fabricate reality all the time.)

The unasked questions are what bother me, not the answers. The answers give me clarity. Silence is in its self an answer, so ask! To not ask is to deny the existence of said question, and leaves you with just "what if".

The thing I like about shipping is to share your thoughts on fantasies with people who ship the same characters, there's a silly sense of accomplishment when you realize that you are not the only one shipping a pair.

This is why I don't think shipping self is a good idea, because it would be really rare to find another person shipping the same pair (you with the character).

That being said, as long as you keep in mind what's fiction and what's real, shipping self is as good as any other fantasy.

And there's a thing we know about fantasy:

"There's no wrong way to fantasize." - Princess Celestia.

Don't really care one way or the other. I mean, I'm shipping myself with an older Spike the Dragon, and that's just a "What If" scenario I made up!

That line best sums up my feelings about all fan works, MLP or otherwise!

It's still kinda fine. Let people do what they want. Way worse things happening atm.

In what context are we talking about? I'll assume we aren't talking about a specific vehicle for shipping oneself with a character (like a fan fiction). This is ultimately a nebulous evolution of developing a sense of affection for a fictional character, with some healthy psychology related to wish fulfillment thrown in.

Unless you are going to become an outlier and get all obsessively unhealthy with it, why would I bat an eye? I don't manage my opinions to the exception or the outliers, rather focusing on the more nuanced elements of it that most normal people fall into.

To buttress my point, romance and erotica are the best selling genre in books. Something like 1.5 billion dollars ... you think your aunt Mildred wasn't thinking of herself in the arms of Fabio back in the 80's? ;)

It's completely normal. To all self shippers ... you're not guilty.
