Season 8 could potentially be the best season!

Technically though, ALL future seasons potentially could be the best, or the worst! It really depends! :3 But what makes this season hopeful is that we have both the Lady Writers AND Haber as the story editors for next season! Now both seasons had their strengths and weaknesses in their own way. The Lady Writers posses skill and they know how the characters work on the show. Haber on the other hand is very adventurous and took the show to a whole new level of trying out new things, new character bondings, and new paths to certain characters! Haber doesn't seem that big when it comes to keeping characters IC, and the Lady Writers aren't that risky when it comes to the content of giving characters newer things. Like I said, strengths and weaknesses! Season 7 brought the best out in every character, while season 6 gave new opportunities to them!

Now think about them all working together! What can we see in that season? Tons of continuity, new opportunities to characters that not many people have ever thought of, I mean we could be dealing with the best of the Mane Six, we could be dealing with story arcs that have been abandoned and returned, and hey, since Spike had a very short amount of appearances, next season could really make up for that BIG TIME, even bigger than season 6 was for him; especially with the movie out of the way, main characters can start changing big time when it comes to occupations or even personality!

So like I said, season 8 has the best opportunity to be the best season in the show has ever had! It could have the most amount of fan-pandering, it could contain the biggest story arc since season 4, it could mark the return of characters we haven't seen since season 3 or so, we could learn more about the princesses, we could have returning villains that aren't just Chrysalis, or maybe we can even have that one BIG season for Spike that I've been waiting for!

Two story editors combining their skills, AND the movie is out of the way so nothing can stop changes from happening! What do you think about all this?

Unfortunately for me, I don't think Season 8 can reach the pedestal that I have placed season 5 on and and pretty close to placing season 7 on. Season 5 was a season that was not only one I thought was high quality, it gets a nostalgia boost since that was during an era I was the most active in the community, and played a role helping to run this very forum. I attended my first conventions, made connections with people who I respect and adore, and all surrounding this particular season. 

Season 7 came at an emotionally trying moment in my life, and many of the episodes this season seem to be touching on elements that hit close to home for me -- family, legacy, loss, and healing. The quality has been pretty high for me this season, coupled with the personal connection of some of the themes and morals ... It's either going to be #1 or #2. The next few episodes will likely not have anything that will feel personally relevant so I can enjoy without the baggage so to speak. 

Knowing that, Season 8 has to do far more than just be narratively sound, cute, and amusing. I don't think this show has it in it to do that again. Hell, I don't think I have it in me to do that again.

I expect it to meet my Pony fix. Maybe check off some of the last few items on my list of things I want to see. Here's hoping for a successful season.

If we can have both relative polish and actual fresh ideas, then it might confirm my current belief that this show is best in its even seasons. I adore season 2, season 4 has grown on me, and I felt like season 6 was a step in the right direction which season 7 has mostly trampled over. Fingers crossed.

I thought S7 might be the best season but the truth is S7 is a mixed bag  If every good writers come back to season 8 at once (Megahn, Larson, Nick etc), then i will believe you but anything can happen RIGHT!? The fact Perfect Pear could exists it means any miracle could happen to Modern Mlp, i still have hope or... it just a small sparkle make me fall into despair....

Honestly, we can't really know for sure until season 8 comes out. Until then, we have the remained of Season 7 to look forward to.

I would say Lady Writers has shown to be better than Megan and Larson. That's just my opinion though.

I think season 8 will be better than 6, not as good as 5 or 7 though, expecting a season 4, which is perfectly fine, I loved season 4.

Any season could potentially be the best. I'm not sure how it can top Season 4 or Season 6 for me though.

Though I can say that there's almost no way it can be a Season 3 (which is DEFINITELY a positive). At least, I certainly hope it won't be that bad.

Nothing wrong to say that, their performances are spectacular this season (The Perfect Pear existed) but to me, Larson is the best writer, his story ideas are usually crazy, and his dialogues writting are sharp and just good , he is like Tarantino of FIM ;))

Even without these trump cards, I still think season 7 is one of the best seasons, Discordant Harmony, Campfire Tales, A Health of Information, Daring Done, Fame and Misfortune, Rock Solid Friendship, and All Bottled UP are the episodes I thought were amazing if I am excluding A Royal Problem, The Perfect Pear, and probably Shadow Play. I find that when a season has that 1 or 2 fantastic episodes, whether it be a "trump card" or not, people usually are more critical of other episodes in said season.

Larson is a great writer, I would definitely place him pretty high on my favorites, somewhere under Lady Writers and Haber.

A "trump" is an old card game term. It's an ace in the hole, something that gives you an advantage, but you reserve until the right time for the best effect. The "trump cards" this season so far were two Celestia episodes and AJ's parents, two of the most anticipated things to come out of the show. Now that the show has used these, what else can it do?

Well, it must a lot better then 5 & 6 because that where the weak seasons. It needs to be like s3 or 4 at least will it not be a disappointment after the movie.

Maybe that's alot of trump cards this season for most of the fandom, but I have my own wishes for the show - the shroom cards! They were pretty much mostly used in season 6, so that's why I didn't really get much of what I wanted this season. Basically, just 2 things so far. Maybe a third in Once Upon a Zeppelin if I'm lucky. I guess that's fine, cause I'm saving for season 8!

Also, Pinkie takes Crusaders on scouting adventure in Manehattan to meet that city's Crusaders, Spike/Fluttershy where he helps her overcome her fear of dragons, and at least one (maybe two) Pinkie/Fluttershy episodes -- all summing up to just a few examples of a 26-episode season!

For the rest of the season, I'll just follow other fans' ideas about that.

Not everyone will agree with you (that impossible) but A LOT OF PEOPLE may agree with you, look at the chart, S4 is in the second and S6 is below S2 ;)). 

To me, S5 is the best and S6 is not as bad as people made it out to be but i know some people will disagree with me...

It all about Spike, right? It is the best trump card to defeat you  Spike Origin episode. How about Scorpan and Spike become friend like their G1 counterpart, that will be your ultimate defeat, you will scream in joy.

i think season 8 is going to be great! ^-^ im looking forward to seeing what Chrysalis does, and ending season 7 with shadowplay, (which is going to be awesome!) they're setting up season 8 well. so even if it's not the best season ever, i think it could be a great season none the less.

Hope so. I'd also like a Shining Armor/Princess Cadance episode, two Mane Six families (preferrably Pinkie and Fluttershy's), a Pinkie/CMC scouting adventure to Manehattan with the return of Babs Seed, a lot more Spike than this season (such as an episode with Fluttershy where he helps her overcome her fear of Ember), and I'm also eager to see Chrysalis return in the season premiere, but also no overwhelming amounts of Twilight, Rarity, Rainbow, or Applejack AT ALL.

I don't know if Scorpan will ever make an appearance in FiM. So far, he isn’t in the show.

I'm not really gonna up my expectations for season 8 at this point. Honestly it's actually been a pleasant surprise that season 7 has been as great as it has been; rivaling even seasons 2 & 5, and that says a lot!

With that in mind season 8 has some big shoes to fill, and I won't be expecting anything mind-blowing...but we will see. I just love pony, want more pony, and we'll get more pony, and that makes me happy on its own.

Well, I think people are too harsh on season 6, I often say it is the weakest season, but honestly I prefer it over 1 and 3. The hate flow for season 6 actually made me leave these forums for awhile because I thought the negativity was ridiculous.
