I definitely want to see them again but I get the feeling we won't until the end of the season.

At the end of the finale, the pillars expressed a desire to return to their homes, while Starswirl expressed a desire to travel. This suggets that they will not be regulars on the show. They may make the occaisonal guest appearance, but I wouldn't expect them to show up every other episode.

If they do use use them in season eight then they need to use them very sparingly, the occasional individual appearance here and there might work, but trying to cram another six (or seven if you include Stygian) heroes into a twenty two minute cartoon that already struggles to share screen time out among its core cast would be a very bad idea indeed.

Take a moment to look at the character appearance sheet at the MLP wiki, and notice the increasing prevalence of red as the seasons progress. Indeed, we do not need yet more major characters diluting the show.

oh, I don't know. each of the Mane 6 have a counterpart; they could have an episode each, getting to know their counterpart and showing them around modern equestria.

The themes of reconnecting with a past now lost to you and the old saying that one can never return home would be easy to explore using most of the new characters. Somnambula could also have an episode where she uncomfortable with the adoration given to her, though I'm less interested in that then I am with the others finding how much their old Equestrian towns have changed and the loneliness that can come with that growing feeling of loss.

I don’t think they will appear that often, but I highly doubt they’ll introduce seven new characters in the season finale and not kill them off just for them to never appear again. It’s s extremely likely we’ll see at least some of them in season 8.

I just had a thought of Stygian joining Spike Big Mac and Discord on their guys' night. He wouldn't be the first reformed villain in the group and it would be a good way to maybe help him adjust to modern life.

I'd like to see them all make an appearance in season eight. They've returned after being gone for over a thousand so it'd be nice to see how they are struggling to adapt to a world that has changed so much from what they remembered of it before sacrificing themselves. We got a little bit of it during Shadow Play Part Two but I want to see it pushed even further.

Yes, my thoughts exactly.  Also, it would make the big villains less worrisome with so many heroes around.  We have the elements back and the heroes of legends?  That’s a bit overpowering....  I think it is best if they don’t stick around too much.  (And shouldn’t at least SS be talking in the old language?)
