technology Firefox Quantum (Firefox 57)

Version 57 of Firefox came out on November 14, known as Firefox Quantum, and has some dramatic changes from older versions of Firefox. Some of those changes make the browser similar to Chrome, but with the code base of Firefox still there. I'll leave a link here about the changes, but if you have it installed, what do you think of it so far?

I like the new look of Firefox. Personally, I thought the old look was clunky and rather tacky, especially the drop-down menu which had way too much spacing. It now looks more minimal. It's like a mix of the best of Firefox's look and the best of Chrome's look. Plus, I haven't really noticed a lot of slowdowns like I did on Firefox after running for a long time (possibly due to Firefox transitioning to multi-process).

I think the claims it runs faster are true. I've noticed a difference. Videos start playing faster, too. I lost one of my downloader add-ons, but have since got it back. Looks good so far.

I definitely think it's been running faster with less slowdowns on my rig since Quantum, and while I don't think the look has changed too much (or maybe I got used to it), it's in a much better position than it was beforehand and is a great choice for a browser.

It's definitely quicker to load and feels snappier all around. That said, the limited API support killed off one of my must have add-ons so I'm still on 56. Considering a switch to ESR or one of the FF forks that retain support for add-ons.

I have been loving it. I have always used firefox and frankly it was getting hard to justify.... however with these new changed I can finally justify my choice again. It looks better, and it runs faster. I am really happy with the changes!

I've been using Chrome for a long time now but I finally decided to give this a chance and I do like it quite a bit. It seems faster than before and I do like the overall clean, simple look. I'll use it for a while and see if my opinion changes.

I can't tell any difference in "speed". Speed has never been an issue for me on any browser I have used, so I guess I just don't understand. I've used both Chrome and Firefox and have always preferred Firefox.

I love the new version of Firefox, in fact so much that it is now my default browser and Chrome has become my backup browser, with IE and Edge still remaining as "the browser to download other browsers™"

I have noticed it is definitely faster than previous versions of Firefox, I still don't really like how I had to reinstall my theme and how my old addons are no longer compatible with the browser. I am looking forward to what this browser will offer in the future.

To think that six years ago, I started using Chrome and loved it so much though, only to find myself using Firefox as my daily driver towards the end of this year... Now if only my school upgraded their version of Firefox.

I heavily dislike this Firefox Quantum. It freezing to the point I have to close the window is now a regular occurrence in literally every browsing session, usually more than once. Sure, it usually restores my tabs, but it's still a massive irritation, and a few times it glitched so hard I couldn't open another Firefox window until I restarted my computer.

This isn't pretty but it's what I am tonight.
