Possibility of the students in season 8

I think I just figured it out.

 Yona the Yak is Prince Rutherford's daughter

 Smolder is a prince and one of Ember's siblings(he's possibly the youngest.)

 Gallus is the grandson of Grandpa Gruff (current leader of the Griffons)

  Silver Stream is the daughter of the Hippogriff leader while Nova rules the Sea ponies 

  Ocellus is Thorax's chosen heir 

 Sandbar is Celestia's newest apprentice (since Twi is her own master now.

Where did you get their names? And nothing is set in stone yet.

Also, it looks like Smolder and Gallus were forced to become students. Both don't look happy when they first come. Makes sense, Dragons and Griffons arnt keen on friendship and are similar in many ways.

And I believe Silver Stream is the daughter of a guard there. Not a leader. I could be wrong though.

And a new apprentice for Celestia? I hope that's wrong. Just a small bit of me hopes that's wrong.

He/she's closer to Spike in age than Ember. I'd say slightly older than Spike.

Isn't Smolder underage? He's a student at the School of Friendship, which would make him/her younger than the Mane Six.

Did a quick google search of a visual. Should be an interesting season to have so many new non-pony characters. I find it interesting though that Celestia would take on a non-unicorn student though.

In the leaks you could hear he was a guy. He had a bit roughy voice. Could be wrong though, or dragons just sound all like males, but I'm pretty sure he is a guy.

I don't know... I really believe that Smolder is a girl. I mean the eye style has me. I am open to the possibility of Smolder being a boy, but I'm more towards him/her being a girl.

That's among the reasons why I thought he was a she at first, too. We won't really know until we get the backstories of all these characters, and even then without any corroborating evidence from a third party even that could be suspect:

Smolder is supposedly a prince, but if it's just him stating that without any other dragon to back him up, I could see a twist later on where it turns out Smolder is a girl pretending to be a guy, presumably because unlike pony society, dragons are a male-dominated species and "she" wanted to partake in all the male-oriented dragon activities.

 

It's hard to say though - I didn't see Torch trying to keep the female dragons (besides his daughter) from partaking in the Gauntlet.

Well, this one feels pretty long because we've hardly heard anything official since S7 ended. Maybe damage control from the leaks takes priority, but we are about a month from the supposed airing date and the only we know is coming is the Forgotten Friendship special

That's true, but the gap between s6 and s7 felt longer for me. I think because this was when I just kept up with the episodes, so it was my first.
