Why is she called Sci-Twi? What do Sci stand for?

I think it refers to the human world Twilight Sparkle. 

I'm not quite sure where the name originates, but I think it has to do with it being a silly pun on Sci-Fi. IE, Twilight is a fan of science, and this allows there to be some differentiation between the Human World and Equestria Twilight. I could be wrong, though.

Sci-Ti is a reference to human twilight in equestria girls. Her nickname is probably Sci-Twi because Sci could be short for science. or like the person above said it could be a pun on Sci-fi

As everyone has said, it is a play on sci-fi, and the fact that she's into science instead of magic.  In a way, science is kind of like the human world's equivalent to magic, and it is a field that involves a lot of studying and experimentation, so I think that's why it was chosen for human Twilight's subject of interest.  Also, she does actually really suit a lab coat.
