gaming E3 2018: What do you want to see?

E3 is nearly a month away. That means excitement, new games, some potentially overhyped nonsense, but still. I always get excited around E3. I simply love the celebration of gaming and all of the new things that could be in the making.

What do you all hope to see though? Anything in particular from any of the companies on show?

Despite being the one making this thread, my hopes are fairly simple.

For Nintendo: Animal Crossing for Switch announced. Nintendo has not been on my good side as of late. In fact they have been fairly far away from my good side. What would help with that, is Animal Crossing for Switch. I adore Animal Crossing, I have loved all of the games, minus that disaster Amiibo Festival. Getting a new, true Crossing game in HD, portable yet again AND with potentially waaaay more content, I would pre-order it INSTANTLY if it is announced. That's really the main thing I want from Nintendo. Sadly I fear they will keep disappointing me in most other regards, but Animal Crossing would make it sting less.

For Microsoft: FOCUS Microsoft is currently my favorite company in the business, mainly because of how consumer friendly they have been as of late. Sure, the PS4 is outselling the Xbox One by a lot, but being consumer friendly matters quite a bit to me, so I avoid Playstation. Regardless of all of this though, Microsoft right now seems out of focus with Xbox. While it is cool that they are embracing PC gaming fully for those that do that, I think it is hurting their overall brand with Xbox. They need to make Xbox a hot product again, something that it simply isn't right now, even though it should be given the value it gives to gamers. The X is out and it is a good system, now they need to focus entirely on making people buy one. They need to come out with some good things. They have great things like Game Pass, backwards compatibility and promoting cross play, they just need to capitalize on that in different ways. I personally hope that the rumors of them buying EA turn out to be true.

For Sony: I don't care.

Metroid Prime 4 gameplay showcase and an official release date, Last of Us 2, Fromsoftware's new game, Bayonetta 3.

Metroid more than anything though. Oh, maybe a remaster of the Prime Trilogy.

I would want to see more updates to Monster Hunter World, but also more on From Software's new thing.

The main thing I want to see is more of the "Spyro: Reignited Trilogy" if at all possible. All we've seen thus far are images and footage from only the first of the trilogy. I would personally like to see some of Spyro 2 & Spyro 3 as well. I'd also like to see a Switch release as well as I will be buying this for PS4 & Switch. <3

Also; would like to see more of the upcoming console version of "Divinity: Original Sin 2," though I'm not sure if it's necessary at this point.

The things that I would like to see from this year's E3 are:

- A new trailer and/or game play trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3.

- New information regarding generation 8 for Pokemon.

- New information, characters and trailers for Super Smash Brothers on the Switch.

- New information, trailer and game play trailer for the new No More Heroes game.

Smash is already planned so Nintendo already has my attention, just add Metroid Prime 4 to sweeten the deal. Don’t know what to expect from Sony, though I’m really interested in seeing more of Sucker Punch’s Samurai game, i’d Like to see Syphon Filter too. As far MS, I already sold my Xbox One a while ago, but if they announce another Crimson Skies I might buy it again

I'd like to see ANYTHING regarding Darksiders 3, which has been very limited since its reveal. News, gameplay, release date, give me something!

That, and whatever Fromsoft's "Shadows Die Twice" thing is. Crosses fingers for Bloodborne 2

If Metroid Prime 4 isn't shown that would be very surprising.

The one thing I agree with Kyoshi is a real Animal Crossing for the Nintendo Switch. As fun as the original Gamecube game was, its lack of portability that the handhelds had meant during my "usually away from the house" lifestyle meant made it too easy to miss out on in-games that happened at inconvenient times.

The portability of the Switch would be most welcomed.

As for any new thoughts, I heard an Ace Attorney might be coming to the Switch. Will it be a port of past game or something entirely new is yet to be revealed.

(edited)

I think Microsoft needs to announce two or three big first party games outside of Gears, Halo, and Forza. This really needs to happen for this to be considered a good E3 for MS in my opinion.

Personally, I would like to see a trailer for Gears 5 and Borderlands 3.

Edit: Also a release date for Nier Automata if it indeed is coming to the One.

For Super Smash Bros Switch to be something a bit more exciting than just being another Super Smash Bros. At the very least it needs to be new and not any kind of port of SSB4, because if it is I won't even pay attention to it. SSB4 just didn't do it for me. While there was a lot technically great about it, the series has just begun feeling a bit stagnant. I would love to see something different done so the concept of Nintendo characters fighting each other is made fun again.

I want to see Pokemon Switch, as well. And I hope that it is a much better effort than Generation VII's games, as they just were very lacking and frustrating. I also hope (but don't have much faith in it actually happening) that GF has gotten more ambitious with the title. A lot of people act like Sun/Moon's graphics upscaled to HD are fine, but really to me they lack a lot of detail and would be more on par with Indie titles. A massive franchise like Pokemon should be able to look much better than that. I also hope that the region is something neat. I'd prefer something not warm/tropical as I feel like we've seen enough of those regions for a while.

Of course I'd love to see Animal Crossing as well. The franchise is overdue for a release now.. I just hope, like I do with the previous two, that it is something more ambitious, like at the very least, be as good of a sequel as New Leaf.

Everything else I'd like to see is a pipe dream... A true sequel to Paper Mario 64/TTYD. A sequel to Golden Sun (even if somehow it is possible, it isn't right now because Camelot is focused on Mario Tennis Aces).

No one else besides me and Whompy is excited and hoping to see Metroid Prime 4?

Metroid just isn't for me. I tried it. I even have Metroid Prime, but never fell in love with it.

I'm glad it's coming for Metroid fans, but as for me, I'm hoping to see other stuff. The Switch just doesn't have many games at all for me this point. But hey, if Nintendo can bring out SSB5, Pokemon, Animal Crossing AND Metroid Prime 4 this year I'd take that. However, I just don't see Nintendo jam packing the last half of the year like that, especially because the first half of the year has been soooo sparse.

Nintendo has already said they're focusing only on 2018 titles at E3 this year. *sigh*

I'm always interested to see what Platinum has to offer, I believe they have another game with Nintendo they're working on besides Bayonetta 3. Possibilities are endless, Vanquish 2? Transformers Devastation 2? God Hand spiritual successor?

Hell, even if they just announce a Wonderful 101 port I'll be happy

Metroid Prime 4 trailer, Last of Us 2 gameplay, and a reveal if the upcoming Smash is a port or a new entry

I'd kill for a new REAL Paper Mario. SPM was a decent game, but it falls short compared to TTYD. Let's NOT talk about the games that followed

Well, you all, it looks like Pokemon Switch is going to be a major disappointment for me personally. I won't spoil anything (I'll leave it to anyone who wants to, to research for themselves), but the leaks are all coming together and... GameFreak is really screwing up. Like much worse than I imagined. First a paid online service with no real improvement to the online at all and now they can't even get something as simple as Pokemon right, Nintendo is really skating on thin ice with me right now.

Sadly, Nintendo justifies the change to Paper Mario because "We already have a Mario RPG series with Mario & Luigi". Nevermind the fact that the Mario & Luigi series has also drifted off pretty far from where it was originally.

The good news (however slim of a chance it might be) is that there is a very slight slimmer of hope yet. All we have to do is go look at the direction of the 3D Mario series. Remember when they completely changed the level design for the Super Mario Galaxy series as opposed to 64/Sunshine? Remember how they went on to make 3D Land and 3D World and had completely erased the design of 64/Sunshine, now claiming that the Super Mario Galaxy series were the successors to 64/Sunshine while 3D Land/World were linear? (Meanwhile in reality all of it was linear).

Nintendo EVEN said they were looking into a Super Mario Galaxy 3. They pretty much cast aside the idea of a true successor to 64/Sunshine. But then... It happened with Odyssey. Suddenly they were acknowledging that the Galaxy games were more linear and they were lumped together with 3D Land/World.

So... You never know. Maybe there is hope.

Pretty much yeah. This is exactly what I want.

That and Prime 4. Nintendo needs to fill up the Switch library with good games.

Yes. 100% yes.

The Xbox is by NO MEANS a terribly awful system. It's not lacking the things it NEEDS to be successful, it's just some of the choices are holding it back INSANELY. The X can sell if Microsoft makes it so you HAVE to own it for some reason. That reason is almost always the same: compelling games you can't get elsewhere! The 360 did so well because of that! Remember Halo 3, one of the greatest experiences ever made and it was ONLY on the Xbox 360. I know tons of people who bought an Xbox JUST FOR THAT GAME. And after many of them owned an Xbox they were willing to get other multi-plats on Xbox because they already had one.

Get these exclusive experiences that stand apart from the market on your system and it WILL sell. I want to see new IPs from Microsoft, new exclusive IPs that make me go "okay I'll dump the $200+ and get that Xbox to play that game."

I've lost faith for Nintendo since the WII, but they've at last earned a cautious faith with the Switch. They've seen to have keep on track so far, so maybe we'll see a triumphant return for a real Paper Mario instead of making some nonsense of M&L filling up the spot. They only share a genre, but those are vastly different games

The sad thing is that Paper Mario came a while before Mario & Luigi, yet they justify gutting Paper Mario because Mario & Luigi is the already existent Mario RPG? *sigh*

Certainly with games like Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey Nintendo seems to really be turning things around in their stagnant franchises. However, I fear that's just an illusion. The leaks of the new Pokemon are showing a different side. A side of Nintendo that is about pandering over and over again to old games and bringing in mobile influence.

BoTW and Odyssey may have just been a fluke.
