PS3 simply because I don't like the design for the Xbox360 or how it's interface is just more complicated than a console should be. Also I find the controllers to be a bit bulky.

Alright I'll throw in my 2 cents in the Controller bit...

I guess controller feel goes down to personal opinion, but bulky doesn't mean bad when it comes to controllers!

I like how the handles on the controller are large on the Xbox 360 controller! It feels much more comfortable then the tiny handles on the PS3 controllers. Plus I don't like the shoulder buttons on the PS3. They confused me throughout my childhood and now that almost all games are formatted for big tv screens I can hardly tell the difference between them if they were to appear on screen for instruction or QTE.

Plus I prefer how the analogue sticks are laid out on the 360 controller better.

But 3rd party controllers aren't a bad way to go either. They come in different sizes depend on what you want.

I would say Xbox 360. I don't know what about it makes it so good. I think its because...

-Amazing controller

-Easy way to sign up for Xbox LIVE

-Has Minecraft

-Has Minecraft

-Has Minecraft

-Has Minecraft

Yep.

I personally don't care about which console is better. Even though I do have a PS3, but that doesn't mean its better than the 360, considering as how my cousin does play the 360. Plus, I think the flame wars just needs to end (like the people on YouTube users), just like what happened back around 2006. We're all gamers, so it doesn't matter which console is better, the only thing that matters is simply having fun.

Wii.

Trololololo

Seriously though, let's see...

For the most part, I prefer the 360's exclusives over the PS3's and I vastly prefer the 360 controller due to it having more organic curves that fit your hands better and it also has the left stick and d-pad in, what I find to be, a superior layout. The left stick is one of the most used features of a controller in just about any modern video game and on the PS3 setup, you have to stretch your thumb uncomfortably to use it. That's just bad ergonomics. Though it should be noted that I don't find this a huge issue, just a very trivial annoyance.

Man...I used to have a USB Joypad where you could actually pop out the left stick and D-pad and flip them around so you could go with either layout depending on what you were playing. That thing was the best...until I stepped on it.

N64 didn't have the completely stellar library everyone remembers. Superman 64 anyone? Daikatana anyone? The list is endless. Which is to be expected of a console with such a long life span, with an equal amount of awesome games.

I say 360. I don't own one, but the controller ain't bad and I gotta say Halo is super fun. :)

I apoligize but this is a thread about what you think is better when it comes to Xbox, and Play Station 3. The Wii is a great console too, but please stick this material...

Damn right it is. ;)

Every game system had/has its ups and downs, memories and tragedies, legends to remember and embarrassments to forget.

And everypony sees them differently.

What about the part of gaming where we all have FUN? :( C'mon, it's the way it's been since the first video games in the '40s. Do ya really think they'd want us to pick a better game company/system/genre? I don't think so.

But when it comes to facts, such as sales, technology, opinion surveys, that's the only kind of area where one can be "better" than the other.

You can't measure fun, enjoyment, or memories in units, can you?

I have argued the title of best console for a while now, and I thought who better to ask than fellow bronies? So in your own opinion, what is better to you, and why?

Xbox 360 duh! y? some of you may ask well let me tell you: Good sell point, great games, great exclusives, great controller, great online community, kinect, free content, and unlike ps3 you dont have xbl go down for months because of hacking!

In all honesty, arguing which one is best comes down to a very personal opinion. Most of the time even, people who claim one or the other is the best often only own that singular console and therefor have poor judgement on the matter at best. Taking a look at the facts of what each console has is perhaps a lot better.

The first obvious thing to look is how much horsepower each has under it's hood. Playstation 3 in that regard wins in terms of raw processing power. However, it was perhaps a mistake of Sony to make their architecture slightly complicated and comnvoluted to work with, as it's taking until the end of this console cycle to fully appreciate the full potential of the architecture presented. Luckily, Sony has learned from this mistake and wants to consult more developers on this. XBox 360 had much simpler hardware and allowed a lot more simultaneous developement for it and PC. While lacking the obvious capabilities of a modern desktop.

This brings me towards my second point, titles. You will often hear PlayStation 3 owners cling to their exclusive titles and claim it is a bad thing for the 360 to lack this. Exclusive titles tend to alienate potential consumers of those titles. A lot of 360 titles simply appear on PC and PlayStation 3 as well. The fact that the 360 has a lower initial cost will perhaps attract more people then the PlayStation 3 would. Even though lacking those sore exclusives. And that is not a bad thing for the 360. You also have to realize, that an exclusive doesn't necessitate a good or widely selling game. Sony pays good money to get exclusives and developers jump on it when they need it, but it is a larger risk in the long run as many consumers are cut off from the product. But that is a completely different discussion.

Another major thing is controllers. And I mean the regular controllers and not motion controls, I will come back to motion later. The regular controller for the 360 has a very well thought out design. it fits ergonomically in your hands and is comfortable for long gaming sessions. It's a very good controller for a wide range of hand types. The PlayStation 3 pretty much rehashed it's old controller look. While this appeals to many, I have heard complaints concerning the fact that it doesn't have a tight fit and can create strain. Many arguments pro this design come from the fact that Japanese people have smaller hands. But that is not an excuse for selling a global product, it should be fit for everyone.

On a slight tangent, the 360 Controllers have pretty much taken over the PC Game Controller market. Years ago, all kinds of manufacturers made all kinds of stuff. But not anymore. The PlayStation 3 controller can be used on PC, in a very convoluted way, and after installing some drivers from the web and crossing your fingers.

Now back to motion control. While Motion control is something Nintendo initially started, both consoles now have motion controls of their very own. In all honesty, Kinect has good things, but it may have hit the Uncanny Valley in terms of controlling yourself. To many it seems to weird to do whole body motions. Doing things too similar to real world things. See: http://penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/kinect-disconnect

While I feel motion controls are a gimmick, many people seem to eat it up like crazy. I am not to argue with market movements.

To reiterate, there is no best console, it's very much personal preference, and each console has it's own flaws. While I personally feel Microsoft so far has been the victor of subtle change. I would go into that more if people requested it.

I don't play consoles, I play games. :D

I pick consoles based on what games I want on it.

I can honestly say, however, that I prefer the Dualshock to the Xbox controller. Other than that PS3 has Bluray which is a plus so games don't get scratched and a game that's normally multiple discs is all on one disc (FFXIII on the 360 takes 3 discs and 1 on PS3.)

Technically speaking the PS3 is more powerful than the 360 but most devs don't know how to utilize it's power so it suffers from framerate issues and slowdown on top of slightly longer loading times.

I don't actually have a preference because they are about equal in my mind and the games that I play on each are generally games that are only for that console. though I don't have to pay to play online for PS3, but even so, I generally do most of my online play via Computer.

Though I prefer the PS3 for overall performance (for the times I've played on it), I like the controls for the xBox and (mostly) the games produced for it.

So I'm gonna go with N64.

...wait that wasn't an option?

Well I prefer the 360 but that's probably because I've never owned a PS3. I pretty much chose 360 because I wanted to get the Halo games, although I do prefer the controller as well. The PS3 ones feel a bit too small but that's just nit picking. From what I've heard the servers for some games are a bit better on 360 too.

I can't make signatures.

Sooo... yeah

PS3

Good graphics and free online gameplay (mostly this really) are what made me get a PS3 instead of an Xbox360. Of course, pretty much everyone I know owns an Xbox360, even my girlfriend, so I usually have no one to play with. Aw well.
