Thoughts on the Mane 6's characters development throughout the show?

So I was wondering as the show goes on, characters do change over time and I want to know what are your thought toward it? Do you think there is a character's development from the Mane 6 at all? If so, is it for the best or for the worst? And what changes would you expect later in the show  if any are needed?

I think they overall... they got better and did good. I think the CMC got the most development... they came a long way from the brats they use to be. They act like mature teenagers now, especially Scootaloo.

Fluttershy, Applejack and Pinkie all hardly did anything whatsoever in Season 8.

I think Fluttershy and Pinkie need a lot more development in Season 9, while characters like Spike, Rarity and Rainbow Dash can just lay off most of that season and go and pick some grapes.

Twilight, Fluttershy and Rarity really grew as characters over time, and I love them!

Applejack did good as well, given her relatively static lifestyle.

To be honest, Rainbow Dash never really caught on with me, and Pinkie Pie actually seems to have gone backwards.

The mane six need to get out of the picture before too much harm is done to their characters. Clearly their arc are completed, and they as characters don't need any more development. That's why I think MLP FiM should end at season 9, since the show is now developing other characters who aren't in the  mane six. I also think the CMCs don't need anymore development.

Overall, I think MLP FiM should have ended at season 7.

But the staff wouldn't ever toss out these main characters. And besides, the Student Six hasn't at all interacted with Fluttershy or Pinkie this season. I still think they need a chance to turn everything around.

But between them, Rainbow Dash got more combo episodes that were of no help whatsoever. Even one solo episode with the Wonderbolts where they make up to her can resolve everything.

Every time I see a topic like this, it just drives me crazy! Sometimes I get the feeling that the main characters won't even be main characters anymore. But the staff wouldn't ever let that happen, giving all the efforts they can make.

I don't know about wanting shows to end at certain times because you don't like it. As long as they can make interesting stories... they can keep making episodes. I think they should only stop if it feels like there are forcing it and imo, we still get quality episodes.

I'm pretty happy with their progression, except for Rainbow. She seems to fall back in her old habits, so she could definitly have a boost. I liked her more again in 'the end of friendship', so it is going the better.

Strongly disagreed and sort of agreed at the same time. Rainbow Dash can use some improvement, but certainly NOT too many main roles in episodes within one whole season.

I never said that. I said she could improve more in the episodes which have been given to her.

WHAT?!? There's already less Pinkie in Season 8. I don't want even less of her in Season 9; besides, she still needs something with the Student Six (and so does Fluttershy).

I wanted the show to end at season 7 because it was completed by then. Season 8 episodes are amazing, but not the mane six's involvement in them. The quality episodes we get are only because of other characters. It does feel like the writers are forcing the mane six throughout season 8 because it's true, that's why I want the mane six to stop being in season 8. Applejack and Rainbow fight after having already got over this in season 2, Fluttershy acted way too assertive, Rainbow Dash became a party pooper, Pinkie didn't become friends with someone even though she wants to be friends with everyone, and the mane six are running full-time jobs and being full-time teachers at the same time with additional time to take a break.

My conclusion should have been worded differently - the mane six's involvement in the show needs to end. If that happened though, it wouldn't be a show since it dropped its main character. Which is why is was best to end the show at season 7.

I personally think the only bad development was Rainbow and Applejack thing. Pinkie finally meeting a pony that got on her nerves was interesting. Rainbow Dash was taking being responsible to seriously... i don't think there was a episode like that. Fluttershy episode was fun for me to.
