ManaMinori 4,145 January 28, 2019 Share January 28, 2019 Why is it that there always seem to be lines for women's restrooms, and never for mens? Quite simply- and apparently, women relieving themselves just wasn't a concern. Quote The customs of public-restroom construction began to coalesce in the 19th century. Then, “the main concern of the male city fathers was to provide toilets for men, whose role in public space was accepted and indeed regarded as important to the industrial economy,” writes Clara Greed, an urban-planning scholar in the United Kingdom, in her contribution to the 2010 academic anthology Toilet: Public Restrooms and the Politics of Sharing. source: https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2019/01/women-men-bathroom-lines-wait/580993/ 2 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
Gestum 2,493 January 28, 2019 Share January 28, 2019 While this may be a problem, I think it's unfair to blame it on sexism. Women's bathroom have longer lines then men because women generally spend more time on the toilet than men. And there's really no effenciant way to fix that. One could build more women's bathrooms, but most places doesn't have the space to build more if they wanted to. Plus it's not that cheap/easy to just build more bathrooms even if one had the space for it.
cuteycindyhoney 13,315 January 28, 2019 Share January 28, 2019 Guys have the biological advantage when going 'number 1'. Unzip, do your thing, zip. It's a bit more involved over in the ladies room. 3 Thank you Sparklefan1234!!!

It's a bit more involved over in the ladies room. As long as some of us don't have the need to sneeze. That aside, afaik women tend to visit bathroom more often than men due to biological conditions. Bladder size, mainly speaking. And, well, men don't really use bathroom for anything else, while some women do use it for fixing makeup, right? I suspect so. Maybe movie propaganda, but obviously I didn't have a chance to check lol. 1 𝕿𝖆𝖐𝖊 𝖒𝖊 𝖙𝖍𝖗𝖔𝖚𝖌𝖍 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖓𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙, 𝖋𝖆𝖑𝖑 𝖎𝖓 𝖙𝖔 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖉𝖆𝖗𝖐 𝖘𝖎𝖉𝖊! 𝖂𝖊 𝖉𝖔𝖓'𝖙 𝖓𝖊𝖊𝖉 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖑𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙, 𝖜𝖊 𝖑𝖎𝖛𝖊 𝖔𝖓 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖉𝖆𝖗𝖐 𝖘𝖎𝖉𝖊! Misty Shadow 7,945 January 28, 2019 Share January 28, 2019 Occam's Razor. The simplest solution is most often the correct one. Which sounds more likely? That men just spend less time in the restroom than women, or that this all goes back to sexism in the 19th century? Seriously. 3 Comet's still best boi. <
SharpWit 2,708 January 28, 2019 Share January 28, 2019 Urinals just don't take up as much space, and part of the unspoken bathroom code for men is to be as quick as possible.

Meson Bolt 2,648 January 28, 2019 Share January 28, 2019 OK, I had this discussion about a field latrine one time, and it got pretty heated, so I'm gonna just say this. The male latrine and the female latrine were the same size as far as square footage went. The female latrine had six toilets, and the male latrine only had three. The difference was that the other half of the male latrine was one big collective urinal. :/ 2 Your family is who you make it out to be.

So facilities of equal size will have more toilets for men than for women, add to that the fact that men don't take as long and the general rule of etiquette that you don't talk to other people in the gents and the throughput is much higher, hence no queues. ExplosionMare 18,085 January 28, 2019 Share January 28, 2019 Like everyone said, women do tend to take a bit longer due to biological reasons and other factors like makeup or they have to take their small children in there with them or something. Also, I feel like there’s always a problem going on in restrooms that blocks them up (especially stalls without locks, how embarrassing). 4 Boom!
