The setting of MLP

Have you noticed that MLP keeps changing settings with every generation? With Transformers, it's always either Cybertron or Earth (or both), but with Pony, it's like Hasbro can't make up their minds what the world is.

Transformers is all one continuity though; FiM is a complete break from previous generations (although I take the point that this isn't the first time)

More often than that, even. G1 had two different settings: One a split fantasy/reality world where people could cross over into a fantasy world with ponies, and the other a 'modern day' world of ponies. G2 had 'Friendship Gardens', G3 went through at least two, possibly three. Newborns was *definitely* a different setting from the rest of G3.x, but G3.5 also had that sudden switch from bird-winged pegasi to butterfly-winged flutterponies in the later animations.

Yes. The point is that this has happened frequently. Also, Transformers is a franchise.

Honestly, I enjoy that part of FiM, that it's different in terms of setting than the other generations.
