OOOOOH, I wanna join in, but... "No fanfic writing"? Doesn't that count as art, too?

Worse, you put it in the same bag as "pony creator" images, implying that stories don't require effort.

That being said, if you decide to accept writings, I could join in with some poetry?

I'm inquiring about this because I can't make visual art right now, digital or traditional. My tablet won't work properly with my small laptop, the scanner is incompatible with our Mac. And I won't put anyone through the torture of looking at a poor-quality photo of a horrible sketch.

I take writing commissions.

I didn't want to include writing because it would be easy for someone to just throw together a paragraph and call it their gift. Same thing with Pony Creator, that it can easily be done in 5 minutes. I want these exchanges to take some thought and effort.

Unless I accept writing but there would have to be some minimums put in place like at least 4 pages or 2500 words. Then again its all up to what the exchange partners agree upon. If someone doesn't want writing in return, then it can't be done.

Likewise, it's easy to doodle something of my drawings' quality, throw in some sploshes of paint, and call it a gift (why not present it as "abstract art"?). Would it be more creative than, say, a short story or poem that took as much (if not more) time and effort as a smooth vector artwork?

You haven't put any standards for visual art besides "new" and "best efforts", I don't see why it should be any different for text.

On a sidenote, for the second time, you imply that writing is easier than drawing. As a man of words, I'm deeply hurt and betrayed by such a mindset.

No wonder no one reads any of my writings on DA, they all think it takes no skill whatsoever.

EDIT: You are also omitting poetry. If you think that shit is easy too, then... no comment.

I see your point. Well, okay, I'll allow it to be done, but it still has to be agreed upon by the exchange partners what they want from each other whether it's art, music, or writing.

Also I'm sorry for coming across as being anti-writing. I was coming from the standpoint of an artist when I should have been impartial and recognizing the effort it does take to write.

As for visual standards of art, these are all going to be displayed at the end, so the user's artistic reputation will be made public if they want the rest of the forums to see how they go about their work.

I agree so much. I'm much better at writing than art anyway. Writing is actually quite challenging if you want to actually make your writing actually good.

Apology..... Accepted.

Thanks Doc, you reminded me why I had left that other forums to join this one in the first place. :D

Well, I know the great majority of people understand visual/graphic when they hear "art". But I guess I didn't expect a brony to make that mistake because, let's face it, the way they behave, it's impossible not to idealize them.

Also I missed the part in your previous post where you say

Then again its all up to what the exchange partners agree upon. If someone doesn't want writing in return, then it can't be done.

which shows the possibility of an exception to the (now removed) no-writing rule. Sorry for not paying attention to that, I should've seen it earlier.

Anyway, count me in. I certainly can find the time to make a poem, even if it has to be long. ^_^

Also Dylan, actually thank you for actually impersonating me while I'm actually gone. With all due "actually"s. XP

And with that, sign-ups are full! Tomorrow night will be the randomized pairing. If I feel like it I might host a chat and give out the results in real time. Of course I'll post it back here too.
