"Well, even though Friendshire can seem like a trap, we do have a regular mail route. You can always send mail to your family and friends, if you are afraid they might worry." Samurai explains. Samurai also gets visibly excited about the potential of Fable summoning or talking to beasts, but gets disappointed when she says that she can't. Oh well~

Samurai also nods while listening to Silver. "There will be food at the mall. We can all get something to eat or snack on, if we want. My treat!" Samurai says. He also notices an exchange he has with Pastel. "It's true, you know. She really is our residential magical girl. For instance..." Samurai begins, but as they walk past the local school in Friendshire, the young filly and colt students start making some noise that gets their attention.

"Oh! No way! It's her! It's Pastel Heart, you guys!", "Oh wow, it really is her!! The one that was in the race and everything!", "Pastel!! Over here!! Over here!!" all of the school students call out to her. Samurai smiles. "That. She has a magic over this town." Samurai says. This is exactly what he wanted Pastel to see before they reach the mall.

Samurai guides his friends closer to the school grounds, mostly so Pastel can meet her fans. "Go on, Pastel. Make their day. Your adoring crowd awaits." Samurai says with a wink.
Right away, they crowd around her, and they all have various things to say. "Is it true you won the big kart race yesterday?!", "You were so amazing in the open-concert a few days ago. I hope I can learn to sing as good as you some day.", "I heard you were a MAGICAL girl, is this true?!", "No she's not, she's a pirate princess, isn't that right?", "But I heard you were chu--chu--chuunibyou?" "Pastel, sign my concert poster! PLEASE!!!" In a short time, just by being herself, Pastel has all ready made a lasting impression on ponies her own age. The native colts and fillies? They stopped dreaming a long time ago. But then others start coming into town, including Pastel, and it has clearly given them the courage to dream again.

@Astral Vision, @CameoShadowness

At first, Trilby wasn't sure how to respond to Astral. He just looked at him like a deer caught in the headlights. He doesn't hang out with him, Samurai, or Dynamo enough to understand most of what he is talking about, so this is kind of information overload for the fashion-forward stallion. "...Oh. Okay. Umm... Good luck with that? But listen, the major reason why I needed you here is to tell you something important. Earlier today, I got a phone call from Mayor White. He specifically asked to see you in person. So my job is to escort you to his office!" Trilby says.

He also listens to what he and Beryl are talking about. "Wind pony that you were with... You mean Kronology?" Trilby says, getting his name wrong again. "If he's up to something, then I guess I should tell Samurai Equine about it. Protecting this town is his job, after all. I'll make sure the information is passed along." Trilby nods with determination.

Silver was glad to hear that the town was on a mail route, somehow. He had wondered how he was going to get his letters sent out to tell his village about Friendshire, but now it seemed that wouldn’t be an issue.

Then Samurai mentioned food, and that he’d buy. “Oh, really, that’s very kind of you, Samurai. You didn’t have to do that…but thank you!” He smiled. Silver found himself smiling an awful lot lately. Maybe it was a good thing~.

Upon hearing Samurai support Pastel’s magic claims, Silver got a lot more curious as to what they meant, and he wouldn’t have to wait long to get an answer. Numerous colt and filly students from the local school they were walking past all noticed Pastel and started surrounding her. Silver hadn’t been around to witness the events they were praising her for, something about a race and a concert? Interesting. Well, whatever it may have been, it was clear to see that she had managed to have a large impact in a relatively short amount of time. Silver stood back with Fable and Samurai and watched the pink filly interact with her adoring fans.

Shadow pondered for a right decision. Sundae was a kind mare, but she hadn't known her entirely, and how will Boulder react when he found out he was going to stay in a rich mare's house? She hoped Sundae gave him freedom but not too much to ensure his safety. On the other hoof, since Sundae is rich, Boulder have no problems with food and water.

“Alright” She decided to let Boulder stay with Sundae “Good luck, Sundae” she turn to Keen “Let's go, Keen” Keen nodded. They left, leaving behind Sundae and Boulder.

“So, what do you want to go, Boulder?” Sundae asked him “Do you want to go to the library? or the arcade? Or to my house?”

He thought about it for a second. He decided that he'd weigh his options after he saw this pony's residence. Depending on what was available it could end up being advantageous to live with her. With that in mind he spoke his decision out loud.

"I'd like to see what your home is like Ms. Delight." He said with what he hoped was a nice smile, "Maybe on the way something might jog my memories a little bit. Its kinda frustrating not knowing things that everyone else knows."

He mentally kicked himself for not using their version of everyone, everypony. He remembered almost directly after he had spoken that they said stuff like that, though he wasn't entirely sure why.

Sundae mentally lifted an eyebrow at the usual word, but the said word do make sense since he's only speaking to her and nopony else. She let the unusual word pass with questioning him.

“Sure” she used her magic to levitate him onto her back “I don't want to tire you since you just got here from walking in the wild”

It took them a few minutes to get out of the hospital because all she did is wave at the patients and doctors and nurses they come across. They pass a building which Sundae come to know as the arcade, which is not far away from the hospital.

“You might come asking why we are here. I always use this street to come to my house after buying some medicine” she explained. There were some ponies on the street having a conversation or going in or out of the arcade.

Pastel wasn't blown away, but then, she didn't really need to be; she was easily impressed. She smiled and nodded.

"Neato! There's all kinds of different magic out there! I bet you could be a magical girl too!"

@GeneralDirection

Upon being asked, exactly what kinda magic she could do, Pastel genuinely didn't know how to answer and just froze up for a bit. Cracks in the chuuni!

"Uhh, hmm... Well I'm an earth pony so i can't do, like, magic magic but I can darn right make you smile and sing you a song! I could also totally platform a level like a sonic rainboom!"

Vague answers at best but Pastel herself seemed satisfied with them.

@Samurai Equine

Getting to the mall, Pastel blinked rapidly. There were all these ponies that knew her? Wanted to see her? Was this real? It was like she was a real idol! Her eyes sparkled, and after blushing in a brief moment of embarrassment and getting the okay from Samurai... All chains off!

Pastel skipped into the fray, smiling widely. This was like completely natural for her, like it was, maybe, her destiny...

"Hihi, Everypony! Heeere's Pastel Heart! Gimme your hearts~! ♡"

She gave the most cliche possible idol pose imaginable. The heart was almost audible. She was happy. She's come a long way from where she was three years ago, becoming an unexpected inspiration for these other foals. She never knew that she'd go from the bottom of the barrel to being this important to so many ponies. She wanted to cry, but she had an appearance to keep! If only grandpa, and Dynamo, could see her now...

"Oh, I didn't win the kart race, but Dyny and I were thiiis close! You can sing just as good as long as you sing from the bottom of your heart! I'm the only true magical girl in Friendshire, of course! I'm not a pirate, but that would definitely be lots of fun if I was! I'm definitely not chuunibyo--DEFINITELY not! Anypony have a pen!?"

Pastel was more than happy to spend time with her fans, sign whatever they wanted her to even though her writing was sloppy. She was in the zone. You could almost see something trying to form on her flank, but it's as if a mysterious force prevented it from being there. Regardless, Pastel was having fun like never before! This was like home to her, even more than Manehattan. No way she could leave... She'll have to refuse grandpa, for sure.

Thundy looked over at the older pony. "Well you sure are full of energy. I wouldn't mind taking you out to the dunes or trails for some blazing and hopping." Thundy stated as he waited patiently. .

"GOOD! ROAD TRIP SHALL COMMENCE THEN, BUBBAS! This will be like my days on the road 30 years ago! And do not worry, Pad of the Dynamo! I just have a few things to say to you. Perhaps I show you something in exhange for being a great comrade to my filly, eh?"

Iron Shoal unceremoniously hopped in the back of the vehicle. He seemed cheerful in his own way, for certain. He seemed right at home. Though his lifestyle of the rich and famous was gone, he could pretend for a bit.

"Perhaps sitting up front next to me will be the safest." Thundy said pointing to the passenger door for the older pony. He opened it for him and went to his side of the truck, getting in.

As he looked back at Chelsea and Pencil, Dynamo decided that maybe it would be better to have that chat with Patel’s grandfather. He did want to go on the exploration, but it seemed that this discussion might be important. He knew he shouldn’t back out of Iron’s request, or he might be in trouble. “On second thought, you two go on ahead. I need to talk to Mr. Shoals. I’ll try and catch up later.” He looked back to address the mare and female griffon, but they were nowhere to be seen. The gamer pony looked around in wonder at where they could have gotten to. There was a moment that he thought he was either ignored or completely forgotten. He looked down at the ground and gave a shaky sigh.

Closing his eyes briefly, Dynamo made his way over towards Thundy and Iron, who was helping the stallion into the passenger side of his vehicle. “Do you have room for one more passenger? I might take you up on your offer on seeing what this car can do.” He would say, nodding slightly in confusion to Iron’s reaping se. “Life on the road, sir? What was that like? If you don’t mind me asking, that is. Also, show me something? What did you have to show me for being there for Pastel? I mean, I appreciate it, but I’m glad to be there for her. I’m always there for this I consider my friend.” He would say with an honest smile.

Astral's eyes widened in surprise, though it was hard to tell if this reaction was negative or positive. While Astral was excited to finally meet one of the mayors face-to-face, he had to wonder why. He decided to disregard this doubt; he could take care of himself in case of any trouble, and the most important thing was gathering information.

"Well Trilby, my well-dressed acquaintance, please lead the way." the unicorn said with a warm smile.

As Astral waited for Trilby's response, he began to ponder on the name 'Kronology'. Did he mean 'Kronos', the strange cybernetic pony Astral had met at the concert? What could he be up to?

Once settled into the car, he pulled out two more beers (celestia knows where he gets them all from) and holds one up.

Samurai watches Pastel as she interacts with her fans, and boy are they eager! They swamp her with tons of questions about where she learned to sing, how she got in the kart race, who does her mane, etc. But eventually, seeing as Pastel loves to entertain her audience, she answers all their questions and signs autographs too. Could this be Pastel's first time being a celebrity? Still, Samurai waits until Pastel is about finished entertaining them all.

"All right, Pastel. I think that's enough for one day. The mall is still a ways to go. Say goodbye to your adoring fans." Samurai says, leading the way again. Of course, the various colts and fillies wave her goodbye with comments like "Bye Pastel! Come back again some day!" "Pastel, you're my IDOL!!", and some non-coherent fan screams.

As they walk together, Samurai asks something to Fable. "If you know about mythical creatures, how much do you know about dragons?"

He also has a question for Silver. "So, about Kirins... I heard they summon flames when they become Niriks. Is that the only way, or can they summon flames in any form?"

@Astral Vision, @CameoShadowness

Trilby appreciates her eagerness, but gently lets Beryl down. "Sorry mini horse, but the mayor only wants to see Astral. No pony else. If I break his rules, I might not have a job with him anymore. Not to mention, if Kromeo is out there causing danger, well I wouldn't want you to get hurt too." Trilby explains, showing care about Beryl's well being and also getting Kronos' name wrong. Again.

Trilby leaves the lounge door open. "There you go, Beryl. This way, you can explore the library to your hearts content. And if you need any help with the books or anything, feel free to ask one of the library staff members! I am sure they'll help you out. I'll be back soon, I promise." Trilby says before leaving with Astral.

As they leave, Trilby turns to Astral once more. "One thing you should know about Mayor White is that you'll have to be very gentle and soft-spoken around him. You'll understand when you see him. He's just not what you might be expecting."

"Dragons?" She paused and tapped her chin, "Well, dragons appear in folklore of many cultures around the world. For example, the western region sees them as winged, horned, frightening beasts that breath fire. But in Eastern culture, they are depicted as wingless four-legged creatures with above average intelligence. The earliest reports of dragons showed them resembling gigantic snakes, like that of the Basalisk. There are many famous draconic creatures such as the Mušḫuššu, Apep, Vrtra, Leviathan, Grand'Goule, Python, Wyvern, Ladon, Lernaean Hydra, Jörmungandr, Níðhöggr, and Fafnir."

Dynamo chuckled as he looked towards the griffon. "I guess that pretty much answers that question. If Mr. Shoal is taking the back seats, then I'll take this front seat, or how you said of calling shotgun." He would say, getting into the front seat and buckling up an available seat belt. He nodded at Thundy's response, before being surprised at the offered drink from Iron. "Uh...thank you? I mean, that's really kind of you, but I'm not much of a drinker, to be honest. I usually drink cola and I'm only nineteen years old. I'm not even at the legal age to have those kind of beverages that you're having, sir. I hope you can forgive me on that." He responded, glad that Iron had common sense when it came to Thundy being the designated driver.

Seeing Astral take a dive like that puts a cocky look on Trilby's face. "This is the pony that's going to help save Friendshire? Samurai really knows how to pick 'em..." Trilby thinks to himself before offering Astral a hoof to help him get back up.

As they walk off together, they take a few back roads to make sure no pony is watching or following them. Soon, they reach an Equestrian History Museum which is a rather long building for a museum, but they don't go in the front. Oh no, they go around to the back. There is a secret entrance, and Trilby has the key. "Here we go. Remember, on your best manners."

As they enter, they go down a very sterile-looking, very plain hallway. From there, Trilby finds the right door, and goes inside. The room within looks like a mix between an office space, and a medical chamber. There are desks and book cases made of rich mahogany, paper work, and some office ponies in suits strung about. But at the back of the room is some kind of plastic, transparent tent and some medical equipment, only partially covered by fancy curtains.

Just by looking inside the plastic medical tent, you can see a white stallion reclining in a normal bed, but he's attached to all kinds of medical equipment, including an oxygen mask. The blankets are lowered just enough to show that this white stallion is anorexic. His mane is dark grey and tattered; he is balding up top simply because of how much hair he is losing. A nurse comes out of the tent to greet them both. "You must the guest. Please be patient and to the point with him. He needs a lot of naps during the day." The nurse says and steps aside. "Well, that's him. Go ahead and say hi to Mayor White Addenbrooks." Trilby says, giving Astral the go-ahead.

Pastel happily waved to her fans, striking a final idol pose before trotting along with her friends. What a surreal experience! She really felt important here. Like, more important than in her whole life. From rags to riches, huh? Though she didnt care about being rich that much.

"I... I don't know what to say. Skipping summer camp was the best split second decision I ever made! I'm glad I made so many friends, and apparently fans here... I'm gonna tell grandpa where he can stick it! I love him, but I'm not going home! Not yet! I still got things to do here!"

She boldly declared as if she achieved a resolution. As she trotted with an extra spring in her step, she couldn't help but hear something about dragons.

"Oh! Don't we have a dragon living here? His name, was, uh.. What Astral said. Blanco? Shujinko? It's one of those dragon names I have a hard time saying."

------------------

@Dynamo Pad @C. Thunder Dash

Iron Shoal seemed like he'd be offended, but he simply laughed it off.

"HAHAHA! SHOAL HAD HIS FIRST DRINK WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER THAN YOU! LIVE A LITTLE BEFORE YOU'RE AS OLD AS ME, BUBBA!"

He retracted the beer with a cheerful laugh and continued drinking his, slowly this time, as he savored the moment.

being in the backseat, hearing an engine run, it took him back. For a moment, he closed his eyes to take it in. It was then he opened his eyes, wearing a more serious expression.

"Haha. I used to be a bigshot, you know? I know you two can't tell. You never heard my name or recognized my face, eh? I don't blame you. I was a professional wrestler, the Equestrian Wrestling Federation. Since I came to Equestria from a faraway land, it was the best way I knew to make your currency, bits. I was a top draw! Ponies hated me! I was even the World Champion! That was nearly 40 years ago... Since then, I dropped the belt to that giant jabroni Colt Trogan, and after being caught in a real life scandal my career went downhill... these days I'm retired as you can see. I had no wife. Many lovers, yes, but no family to call my own. I am a legend, but nopony cares about pro wrestling anymore, certainly not you youngsters... I leave no legacy behind when I leave this world."

He put down his beer and looked ahead at the road.

"That's when I adopted Pastel. Just 4 years ago. She knew no parents, but when I saw her at that orphanage for wrestling legends charity, she still had a fire in her, as lost as she was. Reminded me of myself when I was young and ready to suplex the universe. You know I don't know her birthday? She doesn't even know. So we made her birthday her adoption day. She found it weird to call me dad, since I'm so old, so she called me grandpa instead, HAHAHA! She has a fire. She will do great things, she is the real... But she was always lonely for a filly. She's a wild thing. Adventurous, spunky, I can't keep track of her, hence she ended up here! ....I just want to say, thank you, for being her friends. She seems brighter these days, keep her real!"

This time, he leaned toward Dynamo, addressing him directly.

"My filly thinks the world of you, bubba. Don't ever think otherwise. A legend I am, but legends don't live forever unless they're an alicorn. I was worried, what would become of Pastel if I died. But, seeing you, bubba, I have nothing to worry about. You have the Iron Shoal stamp of approval, Pad of the Dynamo! With you, my filly will be just fine."

The old stallion, usually drunk and screaming incoherent madness, looked at Dynamo with a kindness in his eyes.

"Wait...you used to be a wrestler? Now that is awesome. Back where I come from, we have what is called WWF or World Wrestling Federation. There are so many fans of the sport. Heck, some people have even learned to sing certain theme songs of wrestlers." Thundy stated as he inserted the key fab in the slot. He then pressed the ignition. The 1200hp twin turbo V8 engine roared to life loudly, causing the truck to vibrate hard. Thundy gave the Raptor two very loud revs that reverberated across the area.

Dynamo gave a weary look as he wondered if he had said anything wrong. His worries dissolved, yet he was confused as he heard Iron's fit of laughter. "I never knew that actually, but I'll still pass. Drinking that kind of beverage isn't really my forte. That, and I wouldn't want to send a bad message and/or be a bad role model if I become a pro gamer some day." He responded, sitting quietly as he looked back to the stallion. He listened closely as he was filled in on Iron Shoal's history. "You have a sort of vibe that you might be a big shot. So, I won't go and doubt you, but I guess I have a bit of doubt. You're right that I don't recognize you or heard of your name, but it's only because I never knew much about wrestling. I wasn't really a big fan of the sport. Then again, I wasn't exactly a fan of many sports either." He tilted his head at the mention of not being from Equestria. "You come from a faraway land? What was the land like? What made you become drawn towards Equestria. Besides with what you said about making our currency, of course." He whistled in amaze at the mention of being a world champion. He felt bad for the stallion to be hated, but it seems like it didn't affect him in the slightest.

Seeing the old stallion look ahead on the road, Dynamo blinked as he heard Pastel had been brought up. "So, that's why she didn't really speak about her parents all that much. I remember the day we met, she ran up to me as I got off of the train. She had told me that she was going to camp, but instead took a train that ended up leading towards this town. I think it's sweet that you found something special in her to give her the opportunity to have a life." He was surprised as he was being thanked. He honestly thought that her grandpa was somewhat rude and kind of scary, but he knew there was more to him that meets the eye. "You're welcome, but I don't think it's a problem, really. She can be a bit of a hoof full, but she never makes life boring. She keeps you on your toes and can make the best out of any situation present."

He leaned slightly back as Iron leaned forward. However, he decided to not back away as he listened to what the old stallion had to tell him. He was surprised that Pastel had thought that highly of him. He wanted to be a good influence for her, yes. However, he didn't think he meant so much to her. "W-Wow. I-I never really knew that. I know what you told me in the letter she wrote, but I didn't think I did so much for Pastel. Thank you and I'm glad I was able to gain your approval. I don't know what will happen, but I know I and the others will always be there to keep her safe." Since they were in a discussion, he felt it would be right to ask him something. "Since you said she thinks the world of me, then I was wondering if I can ask you a question. You see, I see Pastel as a great friend, but I'm not sure how a relationship with her could work. I'm nineteen and she's eight. I know some would say number's and ages don't matter and all, but isn't this a crush? I guess I don't really know because I'm not the best when it comes to relationships." With a sigh, he looked towards the floor as he glanced his vision towards the front. "I never really had many or any friends when I was growing up. Most ponies always saw friendship as a weakness or even kindness as a liability. It's what my bullies used to say to get others on their side. The same thing was said when it came to romance. I had a relationship once or twice when I was in my hometown, but it never lasted. One relationship was really nice as we had our similar interests. We had our differences, but we saw past them and cared for one another. After some time, I thought I was in love, but it wasn't to be. It turned out that the bullies put her up to it and used me to get a good laugh. Since then, I never really know what true love or what's right for a romance."

I guess singing certain theme songs really shows who's everyone's favorite." He chuckled slightly, before his ears fell to the sound of the car roaring to life. The engine was loud as there were two revs that reverberated throughout the area. "Now that's what I call power. Sounds like this car is in great shape. Was this actually built, or was this made in a game? Sounds to me like you did a great job when it comes to customization, Thundy."

Silver turned to Samurai upon hearing his question. He looks around for a moment before answering. “When a Kirin turns into a Nirik, there’s a few things that happen. Our coat turns black, our eyes turn all white and glow, and all the hair in our manes and tails turns to fire. So, while we can summon fire in this state, we’re also literally on fire. It kinda freaks a lot of ponies out. Back to your question, Kirin can summon fire outside of their Nirik form, but it’s in a much smaller capacity. A Kirin’s ability to do so is determined by their innate magical skill. Every Kirin is different, as you might imagine...” He had a troubled look on his face for a moment before he replaced it with a smile.

Now it was Silver’s turn to ask a question. “How long have you lived in Friendshire, Samurai? The ponies I’ve talked to around here have told me you’re the best pony to talk to about the town’s history, so I’m guessing you’ve lived here for quite some time."

"This truck was made in a game and transferred to reality. Because the game's customization is as deep as what is done to cars in reality, I am able to perform this transfer. It gets complicated if the in-game mechanics don't really line up with reality." Thundy said. "Anyways, before we pull off...when I say hold on tight, I mean hold on, especially during dune hopping. Things can get crazy." Thundy warned.

Samurai is quite surprised at how much Fable knows. "I think I understood Wyvern and Leviathan in that big list. Did it take you a long term to learn all this?" Samurai asks.

"Yosha! That's the spirit!" Samurai says to Pastel, enjoying her positive spirit. Then he hears her questions. "Oh, I know this one... You mean Dr. Milenko? Of all the dragons in the world, he's the only one I DON'T want to meet. Maybe if he had been anything other than a therapist..." Samurai says, showing disinterest in him. "And to think Trilby keeps insisting I see him. He doesn't even understand my position on this."

He listens to Silver explain. "I see. Well you should know, I am a fire elemental myself. Just like how many gifted unicorns can specialize in different kinds of magic, my specialty is fire-based magic. So I just want you to know, if you ever feel like your about to lose control of your fire powers, come find me. I have the ability to absorb fire from outside sources. I have to be careful, though. There is a limit to how much I can absorb, and if I don't redirect it immediately, it could be very painful. Think of it like a balloon, you can only inflate it so much before it pops." Samurai explains.

Samurai then comes to a stop when they finally arrive at their destination. "All right! Here we are at the Friendshire Mall." It's not the biggest mall in the world. It's a one-story building, but lots of paths and shops none the less. "Since Silver brought up food, how about this. First, we'll stop for a snack or a meal at the Food Court, depends on how hungry each of you are. I'm not that hungry, so I'll probably just get a smoothie or something. And after that, we'll begin our shopping mission. I'll need each of you to help me out, especially you Pastel. You each bring a valuable sense of judgement that I need."

Meanwhile at the front desk of the Library, one mare pony is currently cataloging books that have been returned. She is also shrinking them using some kind of strange magic artifact. Once shrunk, these books would be easy for any breezie to lift and read.

There was no way to sit upon Sundaes back that was dignified. When he had been initially plopped onto her he was draped over her back like he were a saddle, and facing forward didn't much help either. If he were human shaped he'd just be able to sit upright like normal, but given how his body was quadrupedal all he could do is just lay his belly on her and drape his legs over the sides. No matter how he adjusted he just couldn't find a position that felt less embarrassing feeling.

When he finally did just give in to his current situation he had a chance to take in his surroundings. Sure enough there was an arcade loudly broadcasting its presence to the world. He wondered what kind of video games ponies would come up with? Why did they design buildings so similar to humans? As he looked around he noticed that there was no consistency with where technology had developed. They appeared to have modern sensibilities in terms of architecture, yet there wasn't a cellphone or car in sight. The clothing ponies did wear was all over the place from his understanding. Everything from lavish frilly dresses from centuries past to modern feeling attire could be seen on the few ponies who wore clothes at all. There was no cohesive style to speak of. The whole place felt put together by a patchwork of different eras. It didn't make sense to him, and the confusion was visible on his face.
