In Level 1,
Collecting the hidden power-ups with Dynamo's guidance is too easy. They may only be temporary, lasting long enough to help them get through this level, but they'll still be quite valuable.

However, when the hidden short-cut is revealed and the team decides to go through it, they will find a path leading to junk yard.
And while there are still plenty of one-hit enemy mobs to take down, the game announcer has a message for them:

A BOSS APPROACHES! A BOSS APPROACHES!

@GeneralDirection, @ExplosionMare, @Windy Breeze 🥧

At the shop,
Trilby continues talking to Sundae. "Oh, I think I get it! When the game swallowed you too, you must have selected this shop keeper character. I tried to pick a similar character, one that would let me stay out of danger, but I tripped and selected Cleric by mistake. So do you mind if we play your mini game?" Trilby asks her.

He looks to see if his team is ready, and quit surprised to see they are. "Oh, wow... Nice work, Pencil! That will come in handy. Mini-game time, I guess. I'm counting on all of you to take down the most targets since I wasn't exactly built for combat."

Trilby selects the mini-game, and off the four of them go.

MINI-GAME: SHOOTING GALLERY!

Pencil, Silver, Shadow, and Trilby appear on some kind of floating platform. They don't really have anywhere to go. Surrounding them on all sides is just open sky and a bottomless pit if they walk off the edge. They only have enough time to get use to their new setting before they are suddenly surrounded! Flying at them from all angles is a massive wave of deamons with huge targets on their bodies. It's basically a shooting range with a fantasy twist. "Mother of Celestia!" Trilby raises a holy staff and uses the only spell he can in this situation; a spell that fires light beams from his staff. The spell is pretty week, it only lets him hit one deamon at a time. However, he is doing his part, and each deamon only takes one hit anyways!

Tempest goes over to her side, using her hooves and tentacles to give her a hug. And since the Dark King was taking questions, Tempest raises a tentacle and asks one herself. "Would it be okay to team up? I think I want Bluebell by my side."

"I-I-I would like-like that v-v-v-very much,." said Bluebell.

After they left the castle, Bluebell began looking around for things that she could make into weapons.  She felt a little overwhelmed and scared.  "Tempest," she said, "Thi-thi-this is just a g-game, r-r-right?  No-no one is go-go-going to get s-seriously hurt are-are th-they?"

They walked by an eerie looking bog with sharp jagged crystals growing out of the water, from the tree branches and from the banks.  Despite its frightening appearance, it had an odd beauty about it.

Silver chuckled at Pencil’s evil giggle and watched with interest as she went to work summoning a new creation to help them in the mini game. After a short while, she’s finished, and has brought a scorpion to life. He watched the creature disintegrate a nearby tree before they were all pulled into the mini game together.

The group was placed on a small platform seemingly floating in mid-air, surrounded by sky and bottomless pit as far as the eye could see. It didn’t take long for the enemies to start coming towards them, and Silver rolls for the effectiveness of his dragon companion. Unfortunately, he only rolls a 2. While not completely useless, the dragon is only able to engage one opponent at a time from a short distance. Thankfully, the enemies are one-hit kills, but there are many of them. Silver’s dragon will need help from the others to stay alive.  Silver’s dragon will need help from the others to stay alive. Silver is also able to engage units within striking distance with his sword, but this is more of a last resort than something to be relied upon.

Pencil gasped as she and the rest of the team were teleported onto small floating platforms. She wobbled fearfully as she realized there was no visible ground. She really wished her scorpion could sprout wings right now. Pencil, unsure of what to do at the moment, took the time to look around and see if anything was happening. Out past the stretch of endless void, an armanda of enemies approached. Pencil’s fear of heights was replaced with defensiveness.

Immediately, she ordered the scorpion to cast its blazing rays towards the enemies. It was able to scorch four of five of them at a time, eliminating the larger groups. Pencil assisted her creation and spun her paintbrush around vigorously. While she was not able to inflict much damage, she was able to stop many of the enemies in their path.

As more of the opponents began to disappear, Pencil observed the others to see how they were doing. She noticed Silver’s dragon was sent out to fight. She also noticed it was rather weak and most likely needed assistance. Pointing her paintbrush towards the scorpion and tapping it gently on its arm, she encouraged it to fight alongside the dragon. It saluted valiantly and hurried over to Silver’s spot.

“Sure, I really don't mind” Sundae replied.

Shadow becomes a little nervous, she just randomly selected her role, having no idea what just happened, she became even more anxious when she herself on a floating platform and finding herself and her companions surrounding from all sides!

She trembled in fear, what is she going to do? She doesn't even have any knowledge of her abilities yet. Fear embraced her just as one daemon charged at her.

“NO!” she covered her face with her wing out of instincts, she waited for something to happen like the announcement of a game over.

But it never happened.

She opened her eyes, the daemon was gone, much to her confusion. Did it decide not to attack her? No, cause another daemon is charging at her from the skies. Fear gripped her again and attempted to fly backward.

To her surprise, something bright shot out of her wings, it was white and it looks the shape of a crescent, it went towards the daemon, who 'disappeared' once the white crescent thing.

Oblivious to her, it was one of her several abilities she gained from the Aeronaut role: Gust Blade! The ability is not powerful and is mainly used to stun and injure enemies, but since her enemies are only one-hit kill, it still became useful to her to use it in this minigame, It would at first took shape of her wings but would soon turn crescent as it flies through the air swiftly before hitting the enemy like a shinai.

Thundy and Chelsea flew up in the air. Thundy gathered some electricity and lifted Pencil off the ground so she wouldn't take damage either. When Dynamo said there were health and power bonuses nearby. Thundy summoned a scout to lead them there, and make sure there weren't any enemies close to the bonuses. "Hopefully there's no cooldown to some of these moves we're using..." Thundy said.

As Thundy summoned up some scouts, Dynamo made his way to where the voice had mentioned the power ups. Upon reaching said power up, Dynamo reached out with a hesitant hoof, before ultimately taking the power up. He soon felt an increase to his magic as he felt supercharged. “I think there might be a cool down. I tried using an attack earlier, but it didn’t work. I think there’s a sort of turn order when fighting enemies. So, it’s more about choosing your attacks wisely.”

As the group continued through level 1, Dynamo made sure to point out each power up a also leading for everyone to take. He made sure everyone got their fair share, while also trying to make him well rounded in stats. All the while making sure his magic abilities were higher for his class. He soon saw a hidden shortcut revealed to the group, before turning towards them to catch their attention. “Hey, you guys! It looks like there’s a shortcut. I don’t know where it’ll lead, but it’s beats having to walk long distances, right?” He asks, before jumping through the portal.

Making his way out of the other side of the portal, his vision was met with a junkyard location. While there were still enemies for three to face, Dynamo’s ears perked at a sudden announcement.

A BOSS APPROACHES! A BOSS APPROACHES!

”A boss is here already? You’d think we’d go through some levels first, before we are met with a boss.” He wondered aloud, while wondering who this boss would be.

Back at the castle,
"Why Friendshire itself, of course." The mayor explains. "Founding that city was perhaps the most selfless thing we had ever done together. Black really stuck his neck out helping me make that city, something he normally never would have done. But when the town didn't become a thriving metropolis known famously for friendships, when interest in our town began to dwindle as fast as it had been completed, Black wasn't quite happy about that." The mayor gets up from his throne and walks forward. "He really wanted it to become something big and well known. When it didn't, it was a damaging blow to his pride. I can honestly say, our failure made him close his heart. I tried to stay headstrong about my choices at first, but after a while and as my health began to fall apart, I was beginning to doubt my own efforts as well..."

In Level 1,
It seems any skills you have translate well into actual attacks. Pastel is good with speed and mele attacks, Chelsea is good with water attacks and healing, Thundy is good with ranged attacks, and Dynamo's random elemental powers can easily take out any NPC enemies.

However, as they travel through, this level is whispering to Dynamo once more.
It telling him where to find power bonuses and health bonuses. It's also pointing out the shortcuts in this level. For some reason, it's true. Only Dynamo can hear this whispers.

Back in the city,
"Come on, Shadow! Let's go." Trilby takes her hoof and walks with his team to the local shop. There are a lot of things on display, and a sign about a mini game.
Trilby takes inventory of what's being sold. "Let's see... Magic items, character upgrades, healing potions... Oh! According to this sign, we can each get 1 free item if we play this shop's mini-game. It's a stationary FPS. Seems simple enough-- Hey, wait a second. That shop owner... Isn't that Sundae? What are you doing here?" Trilby asks her.

He also looks at his team mates. "Would all of you be okay with an FPS? I think I've got an attack spell for that. Pencil, can you draw a fantasy beast that shoots lasers or something? Shadow, can your character, I don't know, summon a fighter jet or something? Silver, I wouldn't be surprised if your pet dragon can shoot fire blasts on command."

@Samurai Equine

Astral slowly nodded as he took in Mayor White's continuing tale. It was sad to hear how Mayor Black had come to close himself off, but his personality made it easier for the puzzle pieces to fit.

"Wow. So I guess his own ego, combined with Friendshire's less than extravagant exposure, did have quite the effect on him. But even if Friendshire isn't the town he wanted it to be, that's no excuse for abandoning the people he swore to protect. And not only that, but if he truly cared for you, then why would he?!- ... *Sigh* Just why would he leave you all alone? It doesn't make sense."

@Dynamo Pad

Astral's pupils momentarily disappeared as the blue glow returned, it seemed he was communicating with one of the group! As he looked through Dynamo's eyes, he heard a loud voice that stated:

A BOSS APPROACHES! A BOSS APPROACHES!

As his eyes returned to normal, Astral shook himself out of his daze, and turned back to their king.

"Well sir, it seems our army may soon be in for a fight, but I have the utmost confidence in them."

At the Dark Castle,
As they leave together, Tempest reassures Bluebell as best she can, putting a shadow tentacle on her shoulder. "To be honest, I'm still trying to figure it all out. This game has given me more magic powers than I've had in a LONG time! It feels marvelous. But don't worry, Bluebell. I won't let anyone harm you. I'll be your guardian. Hmm... Although, I guess we are suppose to be villain characters, so I guess that makes you more like a princess that I've captured." Tempest gives a slight chuckle, making a joke to lighten the mood. "Either way, if it comes down to it, I'll do all the tough stuff. You just worry about being my back up."

As they travel further, Tempest sees something. "Let's leave these dark lands. I think we should set up space in the next land over, the one with all the ancient ruins. At least that land seems a bit more... full of life."

@Astral Vision

At the Justice Castle,
Mayor White can see these matters really mean something to Astral. He waits til he is done observing the team. "Astral, you are a kind and caring soul, I can tell. But if you really want answers to your questions, then your mission is clear. You must meet Mayor Black for yourself, and see him for who he truly is. What you find might not be what you expect, it might be complicated, but it will clear up any confusion you have."

In Level 1,
Deep within the junkyard, a revving noise can be heard. A few of the muscle-bound enemy NPCs suddenly stop and go into a bowing motion. "Oh champions... Come out and play~!!"

The boss suddenly speeds onto the scene, riding a motorcycle! She circles around the four heroes before coming a stop right in front of them. There, they can see the first boss, complete with punk rock hair, leather jacket with spikes, and so on. "Greetings, heroes! Elusive Facts here, and I've got the scoop for you. As the first boss, I'm going to ROCK YOUR WORLD!!" With one sentence, she goes from professional reporter, to metal head.

The first boss battle has begun! And now the game switches from platformer, to turn-based combat!

Elusive Facts revs her motorcycle's engine.
Pastel Heart is a Rogue. Meaning, she has a quick-strike option, she can attack first and deal 7% damage before Elusive Facts does. The boss doesn't seem to be holding any special items, so there's nothing to steal for now.

After Pastel decides what move she wants to make, Elusive rides her motorcycle and uses it to ram our heroes! Everyone receives 4% damage. Now it's the heroes' turn.

In the mini-game,
Trilby was impressed the team was doing so well. These deamons, though attacking in a large group, don't seem to be very aggressive. Other than the occasional lunge in their direction, these deamons are mostly staying still and making themselves easy targets. However, Trilby notices Shadow trembling at one point. Was this game too much for her?

He switches from a blasting attack, to a defense spell. He creates a floating magic circle, which acts like a shield. He can move it around to block deamons from attacking him. "Good work, team! I think we've taken down a third of them. Keep it up, and we'll beat this game in no time!" Trilby decides to keep his shield a little closer to Shadow in case she needs it. A bad mistake. A deamon swipes him with its talons. "Oooh!" Trilby grunts, taking 8% damage.

He along with his infantry charged. Thundy rolled two dice; one for himself and one for all the extra men he summoned. The first dice landed on 1 and the second one 3. Thundy's men only dealt 5% damage. However, because Thundy supercharged his swords, his power increased 10% and because the bike was a machine, another percentage was added.

Chelsea rolled two dice. One for her water guard and one for herself. She got a double 6. "Yes!" She cheered. Her water guards dealt 20% with a bonus due to water and electricity. Chelsea hurled two water balls both dealing 30% plus the water/electricity conduction bonus.

Pencil glanced worriedly over at Trilby and the other pegasus, who she believed was named Shadow. That’s what she assumed anyways; she wasn’t very good with names. She heard them struggling trying to protect each other grew concerned. She didn’t want their health to drop on what was supposed to be an easy battle field.

She tried to come up with a quick solution, but was constantly distracted by the multitude of enemies she had to knock over. Her thoughts became scrambled and disorienting. It amazing to her how such a menial task of swatting a brush around could so quickly garner all of her attention.

It wasn’t until moments later that Pencil could finally rest for a few seconds before another swarm of enemies approached. Using the short amount of time she had, she conjured up another creation with her brush. This time, rather than a single large animal, it was a swarm of smaller ones: namely a swarm of bees. Pencil thought about bees when she was surrounded by enemies on all corners. She figured the best way to fight a distraction was to create another one.

“H-hey, Tribly, uh, S-Shadow!” Pencil yelled towards the couple. “I’m sending a swarm of bees over! Don’t worry, they’re helpful! They’ll give you some time to recollect yourselves, but you have to be quick!”

She then commanded the bees to fly over to the enemies near the pegasi. The bees did not hesitate to zoom over to their designation and begin to fly around in the enemies’ faces. They were moving so fast that they created rings of black and yellow in the air. Pencil hoped this type of help was sufficient.

Looking around to take in his surroundings, the gaming unicorn soon heard the sound of a sort of revving noise. "I don't like the sound of that. Whatever that noise is." He muttered, trying to find the source of the rev. He soon heard a voice calling out to them, but raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Isn't that a reference to something?" He wondered, before the boss soon began raced onto the scene. Dynamo's head whipped around in hopes to try and keep track of this new enemy. The enemy soon stopped to reveal that it was Elusive Facts. The blue unicorn had raised his eyebrows in alarm at that. "Huh? What's going on? Why is Elusive Facts here? I know she was with us in the arcade, so she might have gotten trapped to. However, she's a boss?" Not getting the opportunity to ask what was going on, Dynamo could only watch as Elusive made her turn to attack.

Dynamo gritted his teeth from the sudden impact, but it wasn't that much damage. Still, it caught him off guard as he tried to make sense of everything. 'I hope I can at least get some answers if we can defeat her.' He thought as it seemed the others began to make their moves. He took a moment to gather some info on his opponent. The only thing Elusive had was her motorbike, but it seemed there was no weapons equipped to her either. Seeing Thundy and Chelsea use their attacks had given Dynamo an idea. "Hey, Chelsea! Thundy! I'm going to slow her down, but I need your help!" He called out to the duo, before raising his two front hooves into the air. "EARTH TREMOR!" With a roll of his dice and a glow of his horn, Dynamo slammed his hooves to the ground. One dice landed on a 2, while the other landed on a 5. The result caused a rumble of the earth as the ground began to split apart. If the attack worked, then Elusive would be unable to drive as easily as she was before.

In Level 1,
"AH~!" Elusive Facts takes on a considerable amount of damage with that first wave of attacks. However, the damage was only enough to end her first phase, which makes Elusive Facts lose her motorcycle.

With an evil glint in her eyes, she pulls out a metal chain whip. Angrily, she begins to crack this whip a few times at the champions. BE CAREFUL! If this whip hits you, it'll inflict another 10% of damage!

Also, Dynamo hears another whisper, telling him that the bosses only have 3 phases. They're all ready half way towards their first victory!

In the mini-game,
Trilby waves at Shadow. "I'm fine. It's just a scratch. Focus on the game for now." He clearly doesn't want his team to lose just because of him.

However, Trilby is amazed at what Pencil does. The bees manage to confuse the deamons, even making a number of them attack each other instead of the heroes. Soon, they start dropping in numbers pretty fast! "Pencil, that was amazing! I think we just cleared away 70% of those monsters! WE'RE ALMOST DONE!" Trilby switches back to the offense. His light beams don't seam so weak anymore.

Trilby manages to shoot down about 7 of them. That leaves about 15 left in the air. That's 5 for Shadow, 5 for Pencil, and 5 for Silver if they want to split it evenly. They've got this!

Thundy was able to dodge the chain and so was Chelsea. Thundy gathered some electricity and merged 3 of the mechanized dragons in to one 3-headed mecha dragon. He summoned two dice and rolled a 6 and 2. Each dragon head would deal 8% damage for a combined shot of 24% damage. He then sent his infantry to attack rolling dice for them. Thundy rolled double 4's. The infantry dealt 8% damage. Chelsea turned to Thundy. "Say...why not try a collab attack?" She asked. "Hmm, the least we could do is something with a sparkball." Thundy said. "Hmmm, that could work..." Thundy said as he gathered some electricity. Chelsea hurled a water ball in the air and Thundy charged and fired an electro-ball at the waterball, making it a sparkball. Chelsea rolled her dice. She rolled a 9. However, there was a conduction bonus that dealt a grand total of 30% damage. "Yes! It worked!" Chelsea said.

After seemingly vanished, within a puff of a pink cloud, Pastel appeared behind Elusive Facts. The battle was pretty much over with that last overly dramatic attack, but to the rogue go the spoils. She appeared on the back of the enemy following a series of extremely quick dagger slashes.

"Insult to injury? Maybe. Couldn't resist sneaking up on ya... Also, your backup isn't coming. Yoink~"

Seems Pastel was busy behind the scenes. Probably why she took so long. Along with the aforementioned "yoink", she nabbed whatever gold and/or valuables Elusive Facts would have on her before leaping off to the parties side again.

Pencil was relieved she was able to successfully help Trilby and Shadow. Her defense mechanism cleared a surprising amount of enemies away. Trilby was utterly amazed at the bee attack while Shadow offered some encouragement along with some joke about explosions. Pencil chuckled at the joke, finding it oddly funny despite only being vaguely aware of the context.

Up ahead, at least five or so enemies charged straight at Pencil. She no longer had time to help the others as she had her own battle to focus on. She began to paint another creature, but quickly realized her scorpion was still on the battlefield. She whistled at to beckon it forward. It swiftly abandoned its previous task with the dragon to assist Pencil.

Pencil instructed the scorpion with silent commands, swinging her hoof all about. She ordered it to flank her wherever possible so she could have full protection behind and around her. The scorpion acted as a shield near Pencil, caving its body in to absorb any impact the enemies tried to create. When it was not acting as a shield, it traced its laser eyes around the battlefield, targeting the deamons like flying ducks, and shooting them down just as quick.

Pencil, meanwhile, used her paintbrush to her advantage and used it as either a weapon, a shield, or a hazard. She flung it back and forth when enemies were near, held it against herself when one got too close, and stuck it out for enemies not as close to trip on. Pencil tried a couple of times to use her magic as well, but it wasn’t very strong to begin with, so it couldn’t provide much. She just focused on getting each and every enemy out of the way while her scorpion finished them off. Despite how few of them there were, they were the most aggressive group by far. Pencil and her scorpion needed to pay great attention to their surroundings in order to win.

"Well that's what we call styling back in my world. Sometimes, it can lead to disrespect, which in gaming is when you continue to wallop on your oppnent even when they're already down for the count." Thundy stated.

In Level 1,
"AH~!" Elusive Facts takes on a considerable amount of damage with that first wave of attacks.

Dynamo grinned as he saw that Elusive had fallen off of her bike. It seemed that his idea of the earth attack was successful, but it only seemed to have made her angry. Out of nowhere, he watched as the reporter had pulled out a chain whip as she cracked the whip a few times. Hearing another whisper, he was caught off guard as he was hit by the chain in the face. He was sent skidding to the ground a few feet, while taking 10% of damage. He still most of his health, but it still hurt.

After father his bearings, Dynamo managed to get up, before placing a hoof to his facial cheek. He felt a sharp sting from being hit by the chain, but he knew he had to get back in the battle. He watched as Chelsea and Thundy had made a combination attack. He frowned as while he was happy the attack worked, he was still disheartened that they didn’t hear his request. He finally was able to see Pastel again, who reappeared and got a strike from behind. “That’s the way, Pastel!” He cheered as she was using the rogue class to its full effect.

Dynamo wanted to give his two cents about Thundy’s remark, but he soon recalled what the whisper had told him. “Guys, wait! Don’t go near Elusive!” He called out to them, hoping to get their attention. “There’s three phases in the fight and I think we might be getting to phase 3. So, this fight isn’t over just yet! Get back and stay on your guard. Thundy! Chelsea! I need your help, please!” He exclaimed, hoping they would hear him this time.

@Dynamo Pad

"What is it Dynamo?" Thundy asked getting back into position as the 3-headed mecha-dragon awaited the next command, flapping it's large metal wings. "What do you think phase 3 is gonna be like. We should plan for a chain attack if needed..." Chelsea asked as her water guards stood at defense position.

"I'm not sure, but there might be a third phase." Dynamo responded as Thundy got back into position. "If you ask me, then it would be more like an increase of power. That, or maybe Elusive will go into some panic mode. Just like some bosses in games. I do think a chain attack would be a good idea. I did ask you and Chelsea before, but I don't know if you didn't hear me or not."

"Sorry about that." Thundy said. "I have a feeling that either Elusive will go full mecha or employ some magic that could potentially weaken our forces and abilities." Thundy stated hoping that he would be able to dodge the next attack.

Silver glanced over at his teammates and noticed that Pencil had decided to send her scorpion over his way to assist him. Silver silently nods his head in acknowledgement and thanks, before turning his attention back to oncoming hoard. The two fought valiantly, until the scorpion was called back by Pencil to assist her with her fight. Thankfully, they had managed to cut down most of the enemies, only leaving five left for Silver and his dragon to deal with. Despite being at somewhat of a disadvantage, with the help of his sword and armour, Silver and his dragon companion are able to take down all five enemies left in his vicinity, before moving over to assist his party members with the remaining demons.
