"Eeeehhhh!? Dyny ruined my fun! Booo!"

Pastel sat and pouted... before she pushed the melon off her kart. It then exploded, making a big patch of melon juice on the road and not much else. Seems it was a prank and not a weapon. She was gonna pout for awhile but be over it pretty quick.

...Aaand she was over it. The magic that surrounded both karts made her eyes twinkle in wonder. She had the attention span of a squirrel it seemed.

“How will I know what the ‘last page’ looks like?” Pencil asked, feeling a bit concerned about the stakes of the situation.

She searched the area for any sign of a page lying on the track but did not see one. Perhaps it was coming up ahead. Pencil internally smiled and was thankful that if she did finally spot it, she could just use her magic and drag it towards her. Pencil took in the rest of Astral’s words and continued the race. She wiped the dust from her goggles to get a better view of where the page might be.

@Astral Vision, @ExplosionMare

If Astral looks ahead, he'll see there is a strange marking on the road. A tiny white X, almost blending in with the broken, white, lane dividing-markings.
"If that's what you need me to do, mayor, then I will." A voice says in Astral's magical vision. It's a male voice, one he's never heard before. A voice from the past. Could it be...? Either way, this is definitely a sign confirming that X marks the spot of the buried treasure.

@Dynamo Pad, @Pastel Heart

The actions of Pastel have leveled things in her and Dynamo's favor, but Daring Decor in his star-spangled kart are about to catch up to them, Astral, and Pencil too. "Howdy, howdy, HOWDY RACERS!!! You didn't like my furniture discount offer, so how would you like this instead?!" He pulls out a box filled with... "Furniture nails. Plenty for everypony!" He winds up with every intent of throwing them, about to sabotage their race!
KERSPLAT!
..."Huh?" Instead, Daring gets a face-full of melon scraps. His kart manages to drive over the splattered melon Pastel tossed away without any problems at all, but in doing so, his kart kicked up a few scraps of melon and hit him right in the face. "I hate wacky racing..." The furniture salespony says flatly, dropping his box of nails in defeat without thinking.
POW!!
"AAHH!!" So instead of sabotaging other racers, the only thing this dumb racer manage to do was pop nearly every tire on his own kart. "What have I done?! What have I done?!?!" Daring screams as he struggles to take control of his kart again. "I need a pit crew!! PIT CREW!!! ...Oh, there's one!" Unlike Samurai or Kronos, Daring Decor finds a place to pull over and have his kart repaired by a pit crew. Not exactly out of the race, but it will cost him some time. So... Another win for Pastel?

@Kronos the Revenant

Samurai is happy to assist Kronos in moving both of their carts to a different location.

However, while he is distracted with that, Kronos gets a call from his employer, the mayor. "Kronos, can you hear me? Stupid little contraption... Are you still racing? Did you complete the mission? I need one more thing from you. When you've taken Samurai Equine out of the race, escort him to my office. I want to find out what he's really up to." Good thing Samurai didn't hear any of this transmission.

Kronos looked straight as the Mayor contacted him.

”Understood.” Kronos replied. He then turned towards Samurai.

“Hey, Samurai,” Kronos began to ask, “I’ve heard about this nearby hotel that’s pretty....swanky but welcoming. How’s ‘bout we take a quick stop over there?”

What about the civilian? his voices asked, She could become a liability.

We’ll worry about that later, Kronos replied, Right now, we got a task to do.

Dynamo let go of a breath he didn't know that he was holding. He was glad that Pencil had tossed the fruit behind her. He wasn't sure what would happen, but it seemed the melon was a lot heavier than expected. Due to how Pencil grunted in exerting more magic to toss the melon backwards. While the intention of the fruit wasn't explained, it seemed that the use of more magic had helped. He blinked as Astral had called out to him, before giving Astral an look of understanding. "That's okay, Astral. It is a race, after all, but I guess we can talk more about that once the race is over. Since this competition isn't over just yet." He would say as Astral and Pencil drove alongside him and Pastel. He raised an eyebrow slightly at the mention of a favor. "A favor? What kind of favor, Astral? Is everything okay?" His question was answered as he was given a mission to protect the others, while both carts were upgraded with prismatic armor. The gamer pony's jaw instantly dropped in awe, while he was amazed at how powerful Astral was. He had to shield his eyes slightly from the bright glow, but he soon saw the results as the light diminished. "This is incredible, Astral! I didn't know you had magic to create armor of some sorts. How did you manage to do that?" He grinned, but the grin soon faded as he saw Astral nearly out of breath. "Astral! Are you alright!?" His eyes widened as he was concerned for his friend. Knowing what he had to do, he nodded as he would try and keep that promise. "I don't know what's going on, but I promise. I'll make sure to keep Pastel and Pencil safe."

The gamer pony soon looked back to Pastel, who seemed to have been pouting due to the melon being tossed aside. "I'm sorry Pastel-chan, but there could have been a chance that we might have gotten disqualified. Considering that there are camera's all around the race course. You wouldn't want to have the racing committee be party poopers and ruin all the fun, right?" He felt bad as he wasn't trying to ruin her prank and/or fun, but he wouldn't want them to get in any trouble. He understood that the rules were pretty severe. Her demeanor soon changed as their cart had gained their armor. "You can say that again. I don't know if this armor will decrease our speed, but at least we can take a few hits this time around." He smiled as he continued to drive ahead, but made sure to be on the lookout to protect themselves, as well as Astral and Pencil.

Dynamo's ears perked as he heard Daring Decor's voice. He glanced behind to see that he was nearly catching up to the group. Seeing the box of furniture nails caused Dynamo go gulp in worry. "Is it too late to take the furniture deal? I mean, it's never a bad idea to look into new furniture every now and then, right?" He chuckled sheepishly, before thinking he had to fight on the defensive. Before he came up with a plan, he was surprised as the melon that was tossed earlier had inadvertently saved them. What happened next was Daring Decor taking himself down with his own tools. Every tire was popped as he had to pull over to the side. "Sorry about that! I'll be sure to get some furniture from you in the future! By the way, I loved that show! You don't know what you're talking about!" He began to pull away from the pack further and further with the others, before giving Pastel a smile. "That somehow worked in our favor. It wasn't who you were planning to give the melon to, but to be fair? At least someone else got to enjoy the melon surprise instead? Everyone wins, right, Pastel-chan?"

She hid herself behind the bodies of two ponies standing right infront of her, unaware of the mare behind them. A hotel? Once again, she became suspicious of him I must follow that tin pony so i can find out where he will take Sam to

Astral's vision acted as a guide, and soon the unicorn spotted a white 'X' on the racing ground. Astral knew he'd need to be quick, especially with other racers right on their tails. The unicorn teleported out of Pencil's cart and dashed for the 'X', and used his signature projection magic to create a small shovel, but making his astral projections physical was very difficult. Quick as lightning, Astral frantically dug through the earth for the page, and soon the unicorn had found it! However, it was very filthy, so it would have to be cleaned before research could be done. After dropping the dirt back into the hole and placing the page neatly in his satchel, Astral turned expecting to see Pencil in the distance... but he was too late.

"Oh no... Wait a second, I can just get to the finish line and meet them halfway!"

Astral was about to teleport again, but something was wrong. His horn's light flickered on and off, before it died out completely. Astral had run out of magic, and had very little stamina, as was evident by the tiredness in his eyes. As he slowly trotted off of the race track, the vision brought one last clue; a voice. The voice was male, and while he didn't recognize it at first, it was distinctive and somewhat powerful. Astral thought back to Samurai's Laronde box, specifically its original owner. Was this the voice of Final Premo-

"Hng!"

Astral fell to the ground, his stamina at its absolute limits, though thankfully not in the middle of the track. Even though Astral had teamed with Pencil, each cart only required a single driver to qualify, so the unicorn smiled knowing that Pencil wouldn't be disqualified.

"Pencil, Dynamo, Pastel... I leave the rest to you, my friends."

And with a final sigh, Astral fell into a much-needed slumber, having full confidence in the ponies he had met. (Don't worry, I'm obviously not dead)

Samurai looks at Kronos. "...A hotel? As long as you're not asking me out on a date, then sure." Samurai casually jokes. "Hopefully, we can both come back in time for the after-race party at my house." Samurai takes Kronos' lead to said hotel. "...You ever get the feeling we're being followed? I've fought ninjas many times, so I tend to know when we're being followed."

@Astral Vision, @ExplosionMare

It was a rather sudden move, but what had to be done had to be done. Thankfully, Astral's actions were not in vain! For the page he seeks was protected by a treasure chest. And the road was surprisingly easier to dig up. But it didn't seem to help much, as Astral had wasted all his magic reserves...

If only he could reach just a few inches to his left, he'd find a magic-restoring elixir. That ice cream truck kart was throwing these randomly. It's not too late for Astral to make an instant, full recovery! If he could just grab that bottle of elixir~!

@Dynamo Pad, @Pastel Heart

By this point, the racers should be passing the place where Samurai and Kronos crashed. But the two ponies, and their karts, are nowhere to be found now. Hopefully, they are okay.

When she heard Samurai said about something being followed, she quickly hid herself behind a cart which was being pulled by a earth pony mare. She doesn't want to get her cover blown by Samurai of all ponies.

The earth pony mare becomes irratated and was about to yell at her when a black wing covered her mouth “Shh! Just keep moving” she whispered.

As the blue unicorn lay motionless on the sidelines of the track, a glass bottle rolled slowly into his proximity, and the sun's light reflected directly in the slumbering pony's eye. Astral felt so tired, too tired to even move. But regardless, the pony inched his eyelids upward to inspect the bottle's label.

"Magic.. Elixir? I'm.. not exactly one for drinking mysterious potions at a whim. But if this can get me back to the others, it might be worth it."

Astral lazily grabbed the bottle, removed its top, and began to drink the elixir. It was quite bitter, and oddly cold, but something was definitely changing within him. All at once, Astral felt a powerful surge of energy electrify his entire body, his strength returning at an alarming rate. Astral leapt into the air like a rocket ship, and landed on the ground with a firm stomp.

"SWEET MOTHER OF CELESTIA! This elixir really has a kick! Hang on guys, I'm on my way!"

Astral's magic had returned, and he quickly teleported to the the finish line. Once there, the unicorn began to backtrack at lightning speed, appearing and disappearing in the blink of an eye, until he eventually came upon Pencil and the others! Astral wasted no time warping back into Pencil's cart, greeting the others with renewed vigor.

Astral momentarily teleported out of their kart once again, leaving Pencil to take full control over their victory. With less shock in her nerves knowing what to expect from the teleportations, Pencil was able to maintain a steady lead, even if it was for seconds at a time since Dynamo and Pastel were rather close.

As Pencil drove, she searched for the paper, only to realize Astral had already found it at a conveniently placed ‘X’ on the ground. She smiled at this proudly. Her smile soon faded, however, once she noticed Astral beginning to weaken. Pencil thought of turning the kart around to pick him. She began to hit the reverse petal then looked behind herself. Before she was able to move, she saw that Astral had somehow regained full strength. Relieved and also a bit excited, Pencil went back to the gas petal and continued to speed down the dirt track.

He would ask, unaware that Astral was looking for something of importance.

The gamer pony looked around as he wondered where the other racers were at. He remembered the group had passed by where Kronos and Samurai had crashed earlier, but the two ponies and their carts, were suddenly gone. "First, Astral leaves and now Samurai is gone. Not only that, but Kronos was gone too. I'm a little worried about Kronos as he was trying his best to take down any and all of the competition. I just hope Sam is okay. Wherever he is at this point." He wanted to assume that Samurai was near the finish line or watching the race, but he couldn't confirm that for sure. Dynamo was momentarily surprised that Astral had suddenly teleported into existence. "Astral!? You're back already?" He'd ask in confusion, before a smile had appeared upon his face. "I'm glad to see that you're back, but what in Equestria is going on? You just keep teleporting out of the race and back into the race. Can someone please fill me in on the details because I'm a bit lost."

Pencil turned towards a very confused-looking Dynamo, then replied,

“Basically, he’s looking for some sort of special paper. To be honest, I’m just as confused about it as well. He said whatever it was that he could handle it, though,”

Pencil turned back to the race track and focused on the horizon up ahead. Her heart was racing as fast as her kart. A few shallow breathes escaped her lips as the adrenaline almost became too much. To calm herself, Pencil readjusted her goggles to get an even better focus of the road ahead. Clearly seeing her destination, Pencil pressed her hoof as hard as she could on the gas. Her hoof was beginning to cramp, but she was picking up just enough speed to be able to pass Dynamo and Pastel.

@Astral Vision

“Now that you’re back, do you think you help me pass those two?” she requested of Astral, pointing to Dynamo and Pastel’s kart.

Hearing Pencil's response was enough to quell Dynamo's question and confusion, but he was still somewhat confused on the meaning behind the special paper. It didn't help that Pencil was just as confused about it as he was. "Oh, well. I'm just glad to know that Astral is back, as well as being safe and sound. I just hope you were able to find the special paper. Along with what you were looking for behind the meaning of said paper." He took notice of Pencil was taking a few shallow breaths. It seemed that she was picking up more adrenaline, but it seemed to have been too much for her. He could relate as he would always get that feeling of adrenaline too. Whenever he was facing off against a strong opponent in a video game, of course. He had his moments, but he was able to keep the level of competition under control whenever he competed in tournaments. Dynamo made sure to keep his hoof on the gas pedal, while trying to drift whenever possible.

"Hey, Pastel-chan. We're going to need a plan in order to slow Astral and Pencil down. Something that won't hurt them directly, perhaps?" He had a plan in mind in case Pastel had an idea, as well.

Pastel held up... a banana. How was a banana gonna help? She had no idea. But everything else she's tried has seemed to cause a near calamity, so maybe.

@Pastel Heart

Dynamo blinked in slight surprise, yet worry at Pastel's response. "Wait. We used all of our tricks and such already? I thought we still had a few springs or two to jump over some obstacles. Huh. Well, in retrospect. At least we didn't use everything during the first lap. Then we'd really be in trouble." He chuckled sheepishly, before taking note of the banana that Pastel was holding up. "A banana? Hmm...well, we could always try and make them slip on a banana peel. Sort of like Mario Kart, but then again, not really." He gasped as an idea had come to mind. The armor was projected directly on the car, but not the tires from what he could gather. It was then that he had an idea in mind. "Actually, we can use that. Actually, I have a better idea since we are nearing the third lap. Do you happen to know and/or have any driving experience?"

The other racers are doing their best to keep up.

The ice cream kart is the furthest behind. Bribing racers with free frozen treats just isn't working...
There's still one construction kart still in the race, but the driver is feeling sad because his two other buddies are not there anymore...
There is a clown kart with a clown pony that cares more able juggling than winning, apparently.
The giant spinning hamster-wheel kart is actually about to catch up to Pencil and Dynamo, when the driver suddenly gets tired of running and pulls over to forfeit.

But what's that?! Gaining traction on the course is Daring Decor, again! With a sound from his musical kart horn, Daring is slowly but surely passing the racers in the back. "Drat, drat, and double drat! Getting those repairs nearly cost me the race! But I've got just the thing to give me the edge, and it's so dastardly that it just might work! No one can disobey the authorities~." With an evil laugh, Daring Decor puts a police siren on his kart and turns it on. "Police! Make way! Official crime-fighting business!" Decor calls out, hoping it will work.

What all the racers don't know is that this entire race is being broadcast. Not just on the news, but live on the radio by the hosts of the event, who are talking about every development in the race like sports commentators.

Furthermore, they are about to come up on the starting line again. Which means, they'll soon be entering the final lap...!

Dynamo could hear the hesitation in Patel's voice. He wanted her to take the wheel and to drive for the third lap, while he and Pastel would basically swap seating arrangements. "Trust me when I say that I'm the same way. I only drove in video games, but I never drove a cart like this. However, it's not so bad once you get used to driving the cart. I had an idea with my magic and I thought that maybe you'd like to take the wheel, but only if you want to. I wouldn't want to force you to do something if you didn't want to drive." He whispered, but it was enough for Pastel to hear him. He didn't want to give his strategy away to Astral and Pencil. "If you don't want to drive, then did you want to try an idea I've been thinking?"

As they were approaching the starting line once again, Dynamo knew that his plan was now or never. He didn't waste as much magic throughout the race, but he knew this was his chance. Some of the other racer's were catching up to him and Pastel, but some had only managed to either slow down or drop out of the race. It seemed like the only competition was against them and Astral and Pencil. His ears suddenly perked as he heard the sound of police siren's coming from behind them. "Why are police being in this race? Is there something going on, or perhaps they just want a good race. What do you think Pastel-chan? Do you think we need to stop?" He asks, while wondering if there was any potential criminals/villains taking part in the race. He knew that he, Pastel, Pencil and Astral didn't do anything bad. He remembered what happened with the green shell from earlier, but he didn't think the group had done anything wrong at all. He would still keep up with the race, but he didn't slow down. He didn't want to trust whoever was trying to pull them over.

Astral was glad that there appeared to be no further pressing tasks, meaning he could finally focus on the race at hoof. He knew Pencil was still determined to win, as well were Dynamo and the Pink Wonder. As the unicorn quickly observed their opponents, he blinked at the sight of a banana peel in their possession.

"Um, Pencil? Looking at the artillery Dynamo is packing, we might want to 'peel out' before things turn 'pear-shaped'".

Astral’s fruit puns didn’t sound good. Not just because they were bad, but because they signaled potential danger on the track.

“Oh! Uh, ok, so, should we try to avoid them or focus on defending ourselves? If you wanna defend I can use my magic to repel the fruit if you don’t mind taking over the driving,” Pencil replied, thinking on the spot.

Pencil took a quick glance behind her and Astral and saw Pastel holding a banana. She was utterly confused as to why she was holding it, but she decided not to question it. She was glad she didn’t, because she hadn’t been paying attention until now and nearly crashed into one of the nearby buildings. Pencil Pouch swerved to avoid it, kicking up a cloud of dust that sent her into a brief coughing fit. This isn’t the first time she almost fell of course. If she let this happen again, she could wreck the kart and disqualify. The thought made Pencil nervous, but she submerged it and retained focus on the race. Once the kart was stable once again, Pencil cleaned her goggles off and looked at Astral, awaiting his suggestions.

Pastel wasn't entirely confident in her driving skills, with the real thing atleast, but she couldn't say no to Dynamo, she needed to be cool for him, she thought. Full of vigor, putting on her imaginary Duke sunglasses, she...

...Police sirens! Pastels eyes widened as she flailed her front legs

"AAHH! IT WAS A FIX! MARTIAL LAW! THEY'LL NEVER TAKE US ALIVE!!! If I'm going down I'm going down like Scarhoof!!!"

Something about it triggered something in her chuuni brain because all hesitation disappeared and she swapped out with Dyny, instantly selling on the gas to outrun the "police" kart. You could almost hear the GTA1 opening theme zoom by with them as the kart took off dangerously ahead. She was fine for now.... until it came time to turn. This is gonna be a bumpy ride.

"Think f-f -fast, Bluebell," she said to herself.

When you're in the woods, surrounded by a pack of timberwolves ready to pounce on you, there's only one way out, and Bluebell didn't like it.  There was no telling where she would wind up. There was no time to consider.  The second she saw the wolves leap at her, her horn flashed and she vanished in a puff of dust just before the wolves collided with each other and became a heap of sticks on the ground.

The next thing Bluebell saw was the face of a pink filly. "Oh - oh H-H- Hello," she said, a little  embarrassed.  When she realized that she was clung to the front of a kart going very fast, and being pursued by the authorities, there was only one more thing she could say:

"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH...!"

@Samurai Equine 🔥🔥 @Kronos the Revenant

Guessing where Kronos and Samurai went, Shadow emerged from a plant and took the elevator as well and went to the top floor. If he was a henchpony, then there is a big chance his boss I living in the upper floor. I must be careful she thought. A few seconds later, the elevator door opened with a ding. She could faintly hear Kronos' voice so she pressed her Equine ear against the wall of a penthouse. Getting caught was not an option.
