DubWolf 17,213 August 18, 2020 Share August 18, 2020 (edited) Do tell ? Like when you give a reaction to someone's post what does it mean to you? Let's see... from left to right: Teacup: Touche, good point. Some think of it as taking the p___ (it's not a bad word; it's just open to interpretation ) Shocked: shocked or surprised reaction Thanks: thanks Yay: I like this one. It's my way of saying "yes !" Or "hooray" . I use it pretty often. Smile: Sort of like the previous one but a bit more mild. If the post pleases me I guess . Laugh: I use it to laugh at people's dumb content When something is funny enough Sad: sad stuff :c Excited: Sort of like my yay. Pondering: when I have to think about something or if I'm not sure I comprend-o... or other Hug: forum hug someone for whatever reason or simply express friendship . Oh and brohoof: Usually if I'm in agreement with something. Kind of like a "mhmm" . Or if I see something a friend posts that I particularly like . Multiple other uses I can't think of . Obviously most should be the same for y'all, but I guess a few of these could have different meanings or usages . Or you have other personal uses for them . ShadOBabe 18,997 August 19, 2020 Share August 19, 2020 Teacup: I concur, good point, civil disagreement Shocked: Something surprising, in a negative way, but sometimes a teasing, “How DARE you, sah?” Thanks: Thank you for a sweet compliment or good deed, usually accompanied with an “awwww”... Yay: Whooo! Fun! Shouting my approval! Smile: Happy acknowledgment, but sometimes a little cheeky. Laugh: For stuff that gets a laugh out of me! Sad: Sad stuff, empathy/sympathy for bad things that have happened. Excited: Usually for something I’m giddy about. That wiggly, squeeing level of happiness and/or anticipation. Pondering: Genuine confusion or sometimes, “Hmm, not sure if I agree, but I’m thinking on it”. Hug: A hug. A greeting for good friends, or a gesture of comfort. SparklingSquirrels 21,309 August 19, 2020 Share August 19, 2020 I think they're all pretty self-explanatory. I tend to use a brohoof for more serious posts and the other reactions for sillier/more emotional posts. I use the teacup if I want to show acknowledgement of the post but don't feel excited about it enough to use the yay, smile, or excited reactions. 2 ֍֎֍֎
DixonTheAdversary 1,632 August 19, 2020 Share August 19, 2020 I only use brohoof, which is basically a stamp of my approval, whether it be something I like as well, or if it's something I had a laugh at. As for the other reactions, I don't use them* because I just don't really see much of a point and I'm an older user, who remembers the days when brohoofs were the only reaction. Meson Bolt 2,647 August 19, 2020 Share August 19, 2020 (edited) Teacup: "Well said", or "you've got class", also a way to passive-aggressively tell someone to shut up sometimes Shocked: Reaction that tells you something was shocking or lewd Thanks: Either a basic thanks, or a "I like what you posted enough to react with better than a brohoof but didn't want to use a yay" Yay: "I like what you posted enough to react with better than a brohoof" Smile: What I just read made me smile Laugh: My go-to for something hilarious or stupid Sad: The only appropriate reaction when someone posts something sad Excited: Level 2 Smile Pondering: An alternative passive-aggressive "shut up" Hug: Only used if you're a friend of the poster Brohoof: "Yep, I reacted to your thing" Edited August 19, 2020 by Meson Bolt Your family is who you make it out to be. Dreambiscuit 9,575 August 19, 2020 Share August 19, 2020 Brohhoofs: I like your style, you made a good point, you made me laugh. Teacup: Cheers, I'll drink to that. Shocked, Thanks, Yay, Smile, Laugh, Sad, Excited, Pondering and Hug are pretty basic and they are what they are. I think some ponies might use the Laugh to mock something but I don't do that. (I'd rather use a mocking emoji for that, they have far better range).

dead account 2,710 March 24, 2022 Share March 24, 2022 Shocked: Sometimes I'm really shocked or surprised when I use it, but sometimes I use it just for fun too, as an exaggeration for harmless things. Thanks: When someone helped me or replied to my question. But I also use it when I didn't ask the question myself, I appreciate the time and effort the replier gave to the questioner. Yay: Smile, Excited and Laugh represent my positive feelings perfectly. Those reactions show how I feel. But "yay" is something that is said, so it doesn't feel genuine to me. Similar to "lol", instead of just laughing. So when I see a post which I believe is supposed to be funny, but it doesn't make me laugh, I use Yay. But I also use Yay for just silly things which don't fit in any category. But in general I just prefer other reactions. Smile: When I'm happy for someone. Or when something gives me some warm feelings. <3 Laugh: When the post made me literally laugh. Sad: I prefer to use hugs to show people that I care, so I don't use it that much. But I would rather use Sad, when something is incredibly sad, when it's really serious. Hugs would might feel to silly or not enough to solve the problem. It's a delicate matter. Excited: When I'm very happy about something and feel it in every bone in my body! I'm either excited myself or I'm excited for the person who is very happy or excited about something. Pondering: I'm thinking about what was said, maybe it was a question or some deep thoughts. But in some cases it can means scepticism. Or I simply don't get the post, haha. Candy: I use it when I'm in a silly mood, instead of the regular brohoof, just for variety. Or when someone says something related to food. Or just my sign of good will, when I feel like giving some candy, just like that. Hug: To comfort somepony, to show that I care. When something was touching. Or to express that I'm happy they are here. It's basically all the positive feelings. My favorite reaction! Divacup: I see it as a reward. When a post was mind-blowing. Or when I fully agree with everything that was said. But also when the post is about drinking or tea parties. Brohoof: The neutral one. Maybe I'm not in the mood or in a hurry, but still want to react to a post quickly. Or when I read many shorter posts in a row, I might just use Brohooves.
