I think they should add another to the mane six, and have this one slowly driving them apart and separating the mane six thus causing issues and tension. This would them be solved and either removing the new pony or keeping them as a full time pony once they found out that the pony was working for someone because (s)he was being threatened by a bigger badder villain.

Yes Spike he's just as much as a member as the others. In fact [and I just thought of this] maybe there could be an episode where Twilight accidentally turns Spike into a pony and then there could be a subplot, over the course of a few episodes, where Twilight tries to turn him into a dragon again.

What if they were to show up from time to time, just a bg pony with his own plot (not that one) that would be followed...kinda if they were having a slow day with a script. Throw it out there, and there's no way it could hurt future episodes.

Ugh, I would be seriously disappointed if they added a 7th pony to the group. Maybe if it was a new older or younger pony that frequently popped up (like the CMCs, Zecora, Granny Smith, etc.) with a new perspective and lessons to teach/learn, that would probably be pretty interesting. But an actual new pony to the mane 6? I doubt they would do it anyway. Twilight is still a newbie to this whole 'friendship' thing, what would be the point in adding in a new pony learning the same thing, or who already had friends, like the other 5?

idk if anyone has brought it up yet, but if they added a new mane I wouldn't want it to be male for one, (spike unofficial mane 7th would rage at that anyway) and if they did I'm one of those people who hopelessly wishes for merponies and would make an exception for the inclusion of one.

The Mane Six are the Mane Six for a reason: the six Elements of Harmony. Introducing a new member to the group would likely necessitate another element, and I will bet you that we will have then seen the unfortunate jumping of the shark.
