Forum age requirement.

Regardless of my opinion on the rule, I have to say it kind of hurts to hear people say that kids shouldn't be on the internet. I do see that there's other people here that say otherwise, but it still hurts to see someone say stuff like this. I'm only 14, and I started roaming the internet when I was 9. Sure, there are times when I was an idiot, but there were plenty more moments where I was actually mature, so seeing someone say something like this:

Children plus the internet never ends well

It just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Edited by Reversinator

Mmm, I suppose this is what I get for not being around the rest of the forum for long periods of time. I missed out on the Sarge thing. (I have my thoughts on that but I suppose it's a moot point now so I'll leave it)

Still, it shouldn't have come to this. Not saying it's the fault of anyone in particular but something like this for a forum like this really is a bummer. Still, this is the internet and the internet itself has...censorship issues to say the least. Things are going to be out in the open regardless of your age or background.

For the sake of the forum it's best this way though, even if we will potentially miss out on lots of good users.

If parents are allowing their pre-teen children on the internet unsupervised, that's their fault when they get into some trouble. It's a damn shame something like this needs to be implemented because there are idiots out there who ruin things for everyone. But, I suppose red tape must be dealt with, and I give a brohoof to the staff for taking care of the situation.

Pretty much this.

The way I look at it, almost every fan forum has some sort of age requirement. So in alot of ways, this was an inevitable step. It's just a shame that the circumstances for this happening were so crappy.

i think we should force force members to state their age, it is still possible to hide your age, thats what got my dad, the member he was in the forum game with had her age hidden

All new members are now forced to disclose their birthday before they can register an account. Disallowing it to be changed later would be something worth looking into, however.

Remember the spamming incident that occurred when I brought some friends over to the forums?

I'm the reason the Blank Flanks and Muffins can't build to their heart's content on the Minecraft server. :(

Needless to say, they were below 13, it was a prime example of immaturity from kids.

Feld0 and Swoop, was that incident another reason you made this move?

i definitely like this age restriction on here, im not exactly a fan of younger kids thinking theyre big shots on the internet.

What do you mean younger kids are "Big shots" on the internet?

I'm confused, mind if you explain what you trying to say?

What he means, is that you got these 10 year olds trying to be cool by acting idk the word for it..... "noobish"?. I would know cuz i live in a town of them. Anyway, im completely in for making this age restriction. Edited by bobthecableman

Oh, thanks for clearing that out for me bobthecableman!

That's why the forums don't approve ponies that are below 13 year old.

i have just noticed something. we complain that all under 13's are all loud obnoxious jerk who think there big shots when rely that's a small amount and there are likely more over 13s that like that and the rest are well mannered and respectable members.

and yet bronies get mad when all the unmentionable bronies (not cloppers because the're awesome :) ) become the face of the community even tho it is a small amount of bronies who are complete jacka :( es

this rule was put in place because its the law and it would end up costing Feld0 allot if he wanted to have under 13's remain

and we rely need to stop judging groups rather then individuals because it s :( t like this that make me not like using the word brony to associate myself as, which is weird because i would gladly call myself a a :( hole with out skipping a beat.

I see where you are coming from, and have to agree. Though the few that are loud and obnoxious Are really LOUD and OBNOXIOUS, which is the group i was relating too, the "Big Shots", i didn't mean all of the under 13's

I know what you mean, most kids are pretty immature, my cousin who's 11 years old now has just learned a couple of swears and he won't stop saying them because he thinks it's cool xP

but some people do

yes but this rule had nothing to do with maturity yet people express there bias and don't care for the ones who got the short end of the stick on this and it because of those small few,

i don't judge all Bronie for the actions of the c :( ts hell i even have my own little name for them so differ them from other bronies 'Canterlot Bronies'

we should never judge the masses for the actions of a few and yet it like its human nature that we do so.... and as we continue to do so most Bronies ( including myself for thinking this) will be hypocrites

now i just want to punch something or drink some tea :/
