Last night I was bored and somehow, I wandered into a clop fic that was linked from Equestria after dark.... I never go into that web site, except for that one time you see. I was dangerously bored. But I thought to myself, how bad could this be?

 

Of course not to get into any detail, but the clop fic was a human-pony quick shipping featuring "you" and Nurse Redheart... When I say "you" I mean the story was written in a second-person point of view, as if the reader was the main character.

 

I never read clop fics before but I guess curiosity got the better of me. I should have stopped but I didn't! I read it all the way through and after I was done I was like... ew. And apparently all the comments implied that it wasn't that bad... It's been bugging me all day that I read it so it feels good to finally tell somepony.

 

Make me promise never to read another clop fic!

Clopfics can be surprising well written while some are complete garbage. I read some mostly for the writing aspect as well as how they can make the "encounters" seem semi-realistic to the characters. Not to mention some are kinda hot

Your not crazy don't worry. Curiosity is natural of human beings. I personally am NOT a clopper nor do I look at rule 34 ponies, however when I see one I can't help but stare. You know why? Because I hardly ever see them. Quite like 19th century art I don't enjoy it but I do look at it out of curiosity.

Honestly, it happens, if you liked the story... does it really matter? I don't think it does... Sometimes you can wonder onto things that you might be disgusted with but sometimes its not bad.

Well...I for one am not a fan of smut, nor am I much of a fan of erotica, yet I enjoy something with a compelling plot (lol) no matter what drives it, and my best examples for this would be "Romance Reports" and "The Scootaloo Diaries", the latter of which LITTERED with unnecesarry clop, that if removed, would not harm the tale told at all. Might I add, that it IS a really good story, with or without all the clop...

I've gone as far as browsing clop pics out of curiosity. I don't do it anymore for the simple reason that it kills the series for me. However if someone can enjoy clop and continue to view MLP the same one, good for them. I think we overreact sometimes when it comes to a sensitive topic for us like clopping.

It also pains me to say, that if that was your first encounter with that "genre", then it has completely put it in a bad light. I for one have read MANY fanfictions (minus Fallout: Equestria, shut up, I don't have the time for that and I hate sci-fi) and almost ALL 2nd person fics I have read are lackluster, the clopfics no exception. The 2nd person clopfics are actually even worse, most just downright disgusting in terms of writing and the lack of ability to structure a story, in which it becomes SMUT.

Well, I know that feeling. Months before I was a fan of the show, I read several gore-tastic fanfics that were linked to me, out of morbid curiosity. Midway through, I knew it was horrible and I didn't want to read it, but then I was hit with the train-wreck effect: They were awful, but I couldn't stop looking at them.

 

All I can say is, don't feel guilty about morbid curiosity, and if you stop thinking about it it'll get to the point where you don't think about it unless you try to.

 

And, well, if you did like it, that's your business. Pretty sure nopony will judge you for that.
