Favorite and Least Favorite antagonist

Fav: Discord. Love his chimera design as well as his style of villianry: A joke mannerwise but not a joke threatwise. A joy to watch.

 

Least Fav: Diamond Tiara. She pulls off the antagonist role for certain, but as a character she's downright unbearable. She's not interesting in terms of character, but merely a generic brat and bully.

Fav: Chyralis. The only villain that caught me off guard, honestly I was surprised when she revealed herself.

 

Least Fav: Trixie. Why.... why would anyone like this....this thing?! She's a horrible.. horrible pony, she takes all of the worst parts of rainbow dash and doubles it.

Least, favorite? Probably Flim Flam brothers or Nightmare Moon. I didnt like the Flim Flam Brothers song, or them themselfs. And nightmare moon, eh, IDK just not my favorite.

 

My favorites are Discord, Diamond Tiara, and Christalis (I liked her better when she was Princess Cadence.

queen chrysalis was unbelieveably lame. she fed off shining armors love for sustinance, and she led the worst army ever. Pinkie killed them all witha party cannon, and fluttershy killed them all be slapping them. Queen Chrysalis gets defeated by the power of love, Which I though was completely and utterly stupid.

 

Discord is my favorite becuase he is the god of chaos. Also he was the most difficult for the ponies to defeat. Instead of using brute force, he lurked in the shadows and used a silver tounge to get the mane six to betray each other. He got them to break their bonds of friendship, and That takes some skill.

My favorite antagonist would have to be, Discord. He was very funny, he has more power then the other antagonist, and he came close to winning.

My favourite antagonist would have to be a tie between Discord and Trixie. Discord is just this hilariously evil creature who never fails to put a smile on my face. But he also is truly evil at heart behind his comical exterior. Trixie is just that egotistical, self centered pony who in my opinion is not really a big antagonist at all. I think if she returns in season 3, she should get the chance to redeem herself in some way. Least favourite: Diamond Tiara. Spoild brat. Too cliche. Nuff said.

Who is your favorite antagonist to watch and why?

Note that I'm avoiding any monsters, just putting ones who generally cause trouble for the main characters.

I decided on Trixie in the end because I think she is probably the most entertaining to watch, even if she can be very obnoxious. Also she is my number one pick for returning characters in Season 3 =)

 

Chrysalis came in a close second out of the evil villains for being awesome (and also one of my favorite episodes)

Mine has to be Discord... He's the funnier out of them all in my opinion, and he's the most devastating as well. I personally think he was defeated way too early. :|

AHHRRGG. I know it was just a show but Discord pissed me off SO much. That's what I look for in a villain. Someone who can actually make me mad and worry. Discord is really the only one who ever did that for me

It's a tie between Chrysalis (aka, cheese legs) and Discord, they both appeal to me in different ways, Discord adds a bit of 'fun' to his stint, but Chrysalis has an army of changelings, well she is one, so that's pretty badass.

Personal favorite is Discord, although I also love Chrysalis for the way she set up her scheme. Disguising yourself as a princess so she can weaken said princess' fiance and attacking an entire kingdom with an entire army?

 

So. Extremely. Awesome.

 

Least favorite is Diamond Tiara. Her role is extremely cliché and her voice annoys me too much. Not to mention that she has no motivation other than just being a total jerk to Apple Bloom for no explained reason. The only thing I like about her is her design, and she's a really cute looking pony.

My favorite villain is Discord, simply for the fact that he is unique and his sense of humor...is pretty cool actually. Chrysalis is a close 2nd for the fact she can be really powerful, had she not been so foolish after conquering Canterlot.

 

My least favorite villain (even though they aren't in the poll) are the Diamond Dogs. They're really annoying, and quite pitiful when they tried to get Rarity to do their bidding.

First a correction to the poll: The antagonist of "Daring Do and the Sapphire Statue" is Ahuizotl, not Quetzalcoatl.

 

For best antagonist I have to say Trixie, although I admit that Discord is a close second. Trixie is a fantastic example of an anti-villain (I suppose Discord also is one). She may be the antagonist, but she has no villainous qualities and commits no terrible actions. The fact that her arrogance reduces as she becomes less concerned with her public image (very arrogant on stage, somewhat arrogant after, not arrogant during Ursa attack) illustrates that Trixie was acting during her performance. For this reason it is quite hard to judge what her motivations her. While I fear that Hasbro will botch her character, I am excited

to see her return in Season Three, as the great questions about her character may be answered

.

 

I actually like MLP for its antagonists more than for its main characters. Not a single "villain" meets the traditional idea of a villain. Nightmare Moon comes closest to the evil villain archetype, but even she was shown to have a good reason for trying to take over the world: She had been promised shared control of Equestria, only to find that Celestia held most of the power and refused to relinquish it. In "Luna Eclipsed" it is shown that, despite being turned back to the side of "good", Luna is denied any real power in the government. Chrysalis also isn't your normal villain. Sure, she tries to take over Equestria, but she does so as the leader of a foreign nation launching a war of conquest.

 

So, as for least favorite antagonists, I'd have to say:

*Gilda, as she's not really interesting except for the fact that she's a griffin (Hasbro didn't do enough with that, it could have been quite interesting to explain how she lived in Cloudsdale.)

*The Diamond Dogs, as they act far too stupidly. I suppose that they were dumbed down to make the plot work. They could have just gagged Rarity, problem solved.

For my favorite I have to go with Discord. He had a plan, is crazy, a very odd power, also crazy design. Also this is an odd one, but I like the fact that he is a guy. Not saying the girls are bad, but some of the guy antagonist were either beaten to easily and it was a little harder to beat Discord.

 

Least favorite would have to be Diamond Tiara. She's good at what she does, but it is getting pretty old.

I really liked the classic shady Snake Oil-salesmen type personality they were given, and the Super Cider Squeezy 6000song is one of the show's best.

Discord is the best antagonist. Great voice, speaking in rhymes, and starring in one of the best story arcs in the series thus far. Canterlot Wedding being the only story arc it falls to, too much awesome music.

 

On the flip side I can't stand Gilda. There's a reason I've only watched the episode with her in it once. Her voice and attitude are extremely annoying.

My favorite (of what's on the list, because I'm too lazy to remember any that aren't) is Discord. He's just such an asshole, and yet at the same time, hilarious. I love it.

 

Gilda's my least favorite. I stated this before in another thread, but she's a bitch with no motive. Any other character on the list and really any other character in the series who's played an antagonist role has had some motive. It usually involves personal gain, but at least it's a reason, and honestly, in the real world, that's most people's reason for doing bad things anyway. Gilda, on the other hand, is just a bitch to everyone without any real reason. It's not like she gets anything out of it.
