Fun fact, Earthbound (or Mother 2) is the second game of a trilogy. Do yourself a favor right now and play the developer approved fan translation of Mother 3.

One of my good friends was on the team who did that :D

Anyway, I love me some old games. I still have an old 98 box just to play some games that don't run on newer OS's.

System shock 2

Fallout 2

Half life

Alpha centauri

Mechwarrior 4 (which got re-released for free a year or 2 ago, with updates and stuff to work on newer computers :))

The original prince of Persia. I was so pro at that game.

Tony hawk pro skater

As you can see, that's mostly computer stuff, I didn't have a console till I was like 15 :( although I did play a lot at friends house. Hours and hours of diddy kong racing, buck bumble, SSB, and pokemom stadium. SWEET CELESTIA, POKEMOM STADIUM :):):):):):)

For me it was the super nintendo games like Donkey Kong, Super Mario World, etc. But I also remember the Nintendo 64 games that were the bomb like Super Mario 64, Mario Party, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and a few others I remember playing but I couldn't remember the names lol.

Ok since it STILL hasnt been mentioned.

Planescape: Torment, best writing in any RPG to date.

Off the top of my head some more like Daggerfall, Power Pete, Kings Quest, UT, CS, system shock, etc.

Its an RPG developed by Black isle studios (Fallout 2, Icewind dale, baldurs gate) Its essentially a d&d game, and considered one of the best in most PC gaming circles.

Planescape: Torment is primarily story-driven; combat is given less prominence than in most contemporary role-playing games. The protagonist, known as The Nameless One, is an immortal who has lived many lives but has forgotten all about them, even forgetting his own name. The game focuses on his journey throughout the city of Sigil and other planes to reclaim his memories of these previous lives. Several characters in the game may join The Nameless One on his journey, and most of these characters have encountered him in the past.

This should also be noted by anyone looking for some retro PC games that are 100% DRM FREE

http://www.gog.com/

The service sells older PC games. In order to ensure compatibility with newer versions of Microsoft Windows, some games are pre-patched or bundled with Open Source emulation and compatibility software, such as ScummVM and DOSBox. Unlike some other services, the games do not use digital rights management[1] and the user does not have to install special client software to download or run the games,[2] although an optional download manager is available.

Along with purchasing the games, customers are also able to download numerous extra material relating to the game they purchased. Often these extras include the game's soundtrack, wallpapers, avatars, and manuals. GOG also offers full customer support for all purchases.

The simpsons hit and run, is somewhat nostalgic, I think that was the first game I got with my PS2.

I'm not as old as most of you here anyway...

My first game ever when I was just a wee, wee, tiny, wee little foal, was Rise of the Triad for PC and I still remember it somewhat clearly. But I think my most personal nostalgic inducing (?) games would be Digimon World (PS1) or Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on PC. Dunno why Harry Potter, but it just does. :s

Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 are definitely nostalgia hitters too, probably since those are the games I first ever played and beat for PS1 and PS2.

Spyro emits massive amounts of nostalgia towards me, it was one of the first Playstation games I got, one day when I was sick I stayed home from school and beat the game in a day. Also the digimon world games were pretty darn cool, and there was this one spiderman game that was pretty cool.

The strange thing is that even though I mostly grew up with the SNES, nothing about it is 'nostalgic' for me. My most nostalgic game is... this is going to sound strange... Twilight Princess. I can actually sum up why it is for me quite simply: Even though it is a more recent game, I got and played it right during a time before my life drastically changed (flipped upside down, more like). So it brings back memories of a simpler time, and pretty much my childhood... Even though I was 17/18 at the time.

It's very painful nostalgia. Makes me not want to play the game because it will instantly ruin my mood and make me deeply depressed. It certainly did the first time I played it post-2007.

Nostalgia for games usually wears off after I actually play the game but the games in my collection I bought for nostalgia reasons are:

Pandemonium (That was a mistake, even though I'm an extremely tolerant gamer this game is technically inferior to most other platformers)

Chrono Cross (Oh hell yes)

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Final Fantasy IX

Wild Arms 1

Yes, all of them are PS1 games because they are easy to get off of PSN. I've played a few others for nostalgic reasons but a lot of the time they didn't age that well like Castlevania. No matter how good that game is it still suffers from having the most outdated jumping mechanics in history.
