When Rarity broke the glass slipper...

I just wanted to say that was a character-making moment for her. We know she's willing to endure great physical and emotional stress for the sake of balancing friendship with fashion (Art of the Dress and Green Isn't Your Color). But at the Gala we also saw that her dignity matters more to her than her social status, in her refusal to put up with Prince Blueblood and--my favorite moment--shattering her glass slipper just in case.

I respect her more now than I did before. Did you guys feel the same way?

I finally decided to like Rarity after watching, "A Dog and Pony Show". Who doesn't love the whole whining sequence? I personality didn't see much character developement in the glass slipper incident because she and Blueblood weren't in a relationship for more than an hour at most and she destroyed the slipper because she didn't want to see him ever again. But that scene is hilarious no matter how you look at it.

Uhhhh, *drool, can't really remember that episode but from what you're saying and the tiny scraps of memory I have from it yes she did act very mature, and I can see how that would earn her a lot of respect.

I.. Didn't really like a dog and pony show. Having two younger siblings makes people getting annoyed out of their minds by whining hit a little too close to home. The episode that made me like Rarity was Suited for Success. I too enjoyed her smashing her slipper

I totally thought Spike would've found it and used duck tape to fix it and would give it to Rarity later, just saying.

Either way, I thought it was more of just a comedy-fairy tale parody thing rather than "I have an idea, what if Rarity breaks the slipper to defy Blueblood and it could represent character growth? You know, because kids can understand complicated metaphors!" Hey, if it wasn't just meant to parody Cinderella, I was wrong, but I kind of doubt it.

She does get a lot of growth in that episode. All of the mane 6 does, but especially Rarity though when she yells at Blueblood.

Hooves are a little more resilient to that level of crushed glass. That was a key growth moment for Rarity though. It kind of symbolized that she didn't want another stallion to pick it up and be the one -- that she wanted to CHOOSE her mate rather than it being dictated regardless of status.
