Exegcutor and dodrio would like to explain to you that nintendo was always creativity challenged. Pokemon are fucking pokemon, none are more pokemon-ish than others, thats like saying Huskys are more dogish than dachsunds. Theres no argument there that isn't simply nostalgia driven

Especially consider the fact that Muk is just a bigger, uglier version of Grimer.

Has anyone ever heard of the mysterious third evolution of Pikachu and Raichu? Back before Pichu ever existed there was a rumor I had heard about a third evolution named Pikabloo/Pikablue

It may have just been a misplaced rumor about Pichu but...have any of you heard this one before?

Oh yeah, that's an old one. It originated when there was a trade in the originals to trade your Raichu for an electrode. After the trade, the guy said that his Pokemon went and evolved. This was an error in translation, or something, as we all know Raichu does not evolve via trade, but it still sparked interest. And with Marill shown before G/S, everypony called it Pikablu, and assumed it to be Raichu's evolution. This sparked thousands of fake cheats to get Pikablu.

I must say that I miss the simple days before the internet was major and video games weren't analyzed to the very core, when it seemed like anything could happen in a video game. And the only way to tell if a rumor of a game was true was to test it.

Do you think maybe Gary had already started on the Johto or Orange league and that's why he had ten badges?

I'm going to go with the "he completely made up a couple badges" theory.

Fake Badges. Some con artist probably sold them to him, and because he's about as bright as Ash (reference his new career direction), he didn't question why he was the only one in Kanto with more than 8 Badges. More evidence references the fact that he lost an early League battle.

Im going with the "we know the anime has more towns in regions than the game does, Gary simply visited more cities than Ash or the game protagonist does" theory.

That's probably true. The Pokemon Anime is basically D&D. So there are probably an insane amount of towns in just one Region.
