I can't believe anypony would think of posting this type of thing about Mlp. This is practically rule 34. Have some sense everypony. And No Im not trolling Im making sense.

 

Rule 34 is strictly banned from this thread. Shipping is completely different. I don't know about you, but I find nuzzling, and kissing a world away from all out porn. The fact that most the posters here are ancient to the forums obviously shows that this is not close to the only reason we like MLP, we just appreciate sides of it that you might not tolerate. I wasn't at all a fan of shipping when I first came here, but trust me, it grew on me. Anyways, You don't have to come back if you don't want to. It actually took me quite a bit of digging to find this thread again.

you're making it sound like we're a bunch of crazy freaks that do nothing but post in this thread, which, i assure you, we're not. 

also, love and tolerate. if you don't like the concept of ponies, that's fine, but don't go out and lash out on people who do like ponies about how it's not okay liking them. you're just making yourself look like an in the process.

I liked Shipping a bit in the beginning and it grew on me. Now I really like cute ships and I can't even choose a favorite pairing

I read a lot of shipfics recently and also like browsing through pictures and comics involving shipping. Confound these ponies, they are making me like romantic stuff

I've recently been getting into the apple-dash ship a lot more, but, to be entirely honest, I think Dash works a lot better with Twilight, just because they provide a really nice balance for one another. Twilight gets to be more adventurous and spontaneous thanks to Dash, and Dash gets the opportunity to be a bit more worldly and humble.

 

I still have a hard time seeing the Big Macintosh x Fluttershy ship, though... I'm not sure why, I just can't see it.

I'm probably a really rare case here, but I don't care for shipping at all. Shipping in anything is just sort of... stupid to be honest. I do like pairs of characters interacting, and their friendships and stuff, but shipping means romantic, at least to me, and it's something that really doesn't make sense. Not to mention a lot of shipping in MLP assumes everypony is gay since there's so many females, which doesn't make sense. When people got upset over their Fluttershy/Big Mac with all the Cheerilee/Big Mac, I just rolled my eyes. Shipping wars are so dumb too, IMO.

 

I like Lyra and Bonbon together, but everyone always assumes they love each other, couldn't they just big best friends too?

DJ Pon3 and Octavia I like when people draw them because they're so different and they're musicians and I like the characters, but shipping? That doesn't make sense.

 

I do like Spike and Rarity since it's something that's actually been brought up in the show and isn't random or anything, but shipping itself, I don't really care for at all.

To each their own, I suppose. A lot of us like shipping - I feel it adds some depth to our view of the characters and their interactions with each other, as well as usually being adorable as hell.

I never heard of "Shipping Wars" but that TVtropes link mentions the great Robert Heinlein in it's selfcest shipping literature section! I loved both "Time Enough for Love" and the short story "All You Zombies"

While I'm aware of Lauren Faust's official comments regarding the Rainbow Dash lesbian rumours, and I know that someone being tomboyish doesn't necessarily make them lesbian... you gotta admit, Rainbow Dash and Applejack make a hell of a cute couple.

 

On the straight side, I like the Fluttershy / Big Mac pairing, but I would imagine it would be quite difficult to get that relationship started if both are too shy to make the first move.

As far as its simply the romantic part, sure, I see no problem with it. Big M & Fluttershy are cute as hell As for RD, the scene where she flew off hugging the spitfires in "sonic rainboom" had me grinning(kids didnt get it ofc). I couldnt care less if she is lesbian or not, but not urprised some consider her that as in alot of modern media: strong female character=lesbian. Wich annoys me.

I have nothing against it, and some of the shipping is admittedly cute, just the automatic lesbian label annoys me.
