Babs Seed-should we really forgive her?

Caramel Apple

I'm okay with Babs Seed. I understand she was bullied for her blank flank. But the things she did to the Cutie Mark Crusaders were...just cruel. I don't even think Diamond Tiara could do the things she did. Destroying their float, taking the clubhouse...she even made Sweetie Belle cry.

My point is, should we really let Babs off the hook so easily?

What fun is there in making sense?

Nope. Both the CMC and Babs should be punished, the CMC to a lesser extent. Just because you were bullied,  doesn't give you any right to bully someone back. Course, that's kinda what the CMC were doing but even you have to have your limits.

Should have gone to AJ immediately. But alas, that's the problem of snitching.

Just asking, but I can't remember it clearly, but did AJ know in the end?

This one is a tad less creepy. Wouldn't you agree?

I say we forgive and forget. I mean sure, she did give off a really bad first impression but honestly, if Apple Bloom and the others can forgive her then I say, so should we.

I sure forgive her :)

She is my new favorite CMC :3

While making Sweetie Belle cry is almost too much to forgive, I'd still have to say under the circumstances I'd say the CMC had no choice but to forgive her. I mean they could have hurt or even killed her with their little revenge scheme (And many other ponies if the float went wild before it reached that cliff). Still with what we know about Babs now (That she was bullied) its not that difficult to forgive as she was just trying to avoid all the pain she suffered back home (Its why she went to Ponyville in the first place).

At least they properly explain the reasons for her behaviour unlike with Trixie or Gilda. Those two are mean (Gilda) / boastful and mean (Trixie) for almost no real reason.

That was the whole lesson in the episode. Often bullies became bullies because they themselves were bullied. This doesn't make it ok, but it is something that can be changed if the person has friends to help them stand up to their bully so they do not become a bully in an effort to defend themselves. Forgive and befriend.

Foolish. They were misguided fillies and nothing more, no matter how dramatic the scene was played out to be.

Understanding and sympathy goes a long way into actually solving problems than straight up punishment.

Maybe punishment isn't exactly the right word. I'm not talking anything physical. Just that she should't have gotten the end she did. It's like there were barely any consequences. Maybe it's because I've got no sympathy for bullies, even if they were themselves bullied, but that's what I think.

This right here. What you give out in life will either come back to you out of sheer ignorance or karma. Forgiveness is built from knowledge and understanding of cause and effect, which was proven when they all saw the error of their ways. You might also remember that Babs not only learned about where she went wrong but joined in the CMC's cause for friendship among blank flanks. That, is true understanding of friendship.

Babs just wanted to fit in and i think both CMC and Babs were punished enough during the episode. You can't punish someone for wanting to fit in, when they learn a lesson. Thats the meaning behind punishments, its to teach someone a lesson and Babs and the CMC learned one, or two that day..

So yes, we should forgive Babs and the CMC

Yes, she can.

Obviously there are consequences to what she did, but after what the CMC did I would call it a draw.

Plus, consider how old she is too. She is not thinking like a full grown pony.

Babs was sincerely sorry for what she did.

I can't say the same for Trixie though, and I thought her "apology" was bulls**t. That's another topic...

I guess so, since she apologized. I don't really see a reason not to. Besides, she was just trying not to get ridiculed even more, so I think it's excusable with an apology.

I would forgive Babs.

It's rough being bullied, and Babs did have a reason to act the way she did. While it wasn't the best way to go about it, Babs wasn't being a bully without a reason. She was sincerely sorry for how she treated them. In the most recent episode, Babs was so happy to see Applebloom again, and the both of them have clearly put the incident in the past.

Babs made a mistake in a situation where she was unsure of what to do. An honest mistake. She's about the same age as the CMC, so she didn't know better at the time. Everypony makes mistakes. It's what makes us human (Or ponies). Without accepting mistakes, nopony would ever progress or learn anything, and this show is pretty centered around the characters learning from their mistakes. Babs deserves forgiveness just as much as any other pony who ever made a mistake.

If you were to make a mistake that you were sincerely sorry for, how would it feel to be denied forgiveness after learning from your actions?

Forgive and Forget the best CMC ever. Love and Tolerate - after what the CMC did, they are even. Guiltiness is it's own punishment.

As for Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon...

I don't really forgive her for what she did. Just because she was bullied herself, doesn't give her the right to go bully others.

I assume you don't forgive the rest of the CMC either, since that's exactly what they did to Babs. Bullied the bullier.

And they're just kids, anyway. We all learn at some point what and what not to do.

YES.

Unless you like getting beat up.

Many fans have pointed out that Babs seemed to take to bullying just a little too enthusiastically, and I tend to agree, but that's actually part of the episode's message: how easy it is to fall to the Dark Side.

The reconciliation was also too abrupt, in my opinion. I think the CMC3 and Babs needed a little more talk time on-screen to smooth things over before making her a CMC. However, she is nonetheless an official CMC now, and it was nice to see her again for the Apple Family Reunion as a bit of follow-up continuity.

As you have probably figured out by now, I like Babs and think she's a great character. And you seem like a smart person who doesn't want any trouble, so I think we can agree Babs should be forgiven.

You know, so nopony needs to get hurt.

Of course we should!

Shes just a filly.  She's still learning her way around life.  She made a mistake.  Every pony does.  Even older ponies.  And if the CMC forgave her when they were the ones bullied, it seems like we should too.

IMO anyway...

I personally think that she shouldn't be forgiven, but then I thought, "Well, she DID apologize." Also, whatever happened to love and tolerate? It seems like some people on this forum fanbase forgot that motto.

^This.

How can we as a fanbase preach love and toleration when we can't even forgive a young filly in a cartoon who wants to change her ways?

It's different when you have a villian like Discord, who enjoyed chaos and making ponies miserable for fun. However, in the cases of Babs, Trixie, and even Luna, who apologized and saw the error of their ways, they should be forgiven.

Yes...well, Kinda...I think Babs and the CMC should be told that what they all did was bad...The CMC already kinda learned that in the episode.

So I think Babs should have had a big talk with Apple Jack or her Sister (Who was mentioned once) anyhow, I think we should forgive her for sure.

She was scared, She acted differently, and then she felt rather bad...And in the new episode Babs and Apple Bloom have a wonderful time together so I think they all learnt their lesson...Bab's and the CMC.

Yes Babs Seed but she admitted her wrong doing and repented for it, it dosen't excuse what she did but I have done things way way worse than Babs Seed and though I am not proud of those things I did learn from them and tried to make things right.

She felt sorry for what she did, the CMC were sorry for what they did. All but Diamond Tiara were sorry for what they did, so why even keep the subject alive. All this does in the end is prove that a bunch of cartoon ponies would make better human beings.

Babs changed for the better, did she not?She made amends with the CMCs,and even became one in the process. She was truly sorry for what she did to them, and corrected her behavior.I don't see why we shouldn't forgive her.If you don't forgive, you must be able to hold one hell of a grudge against others.

Its hard for me to forgive Babs, mostly because I didn't like her to begin with. It doesn't help that I thought she was a dude for the longest time...
