Songs of Season 3

How do you rank the songs from season 3 so far? Of the 5 we've heard so far, this is my list:

 

1. The Success Song
2. Babs Seed
3. The Ballad of the Crystal Empire
4. Raise This Barn
5. The Failure Song

What are your feelings?

 

And to clarify, I've loved all of these songs, just some more than others.

I thibk Babs Seed was adorable and amazing. It finally showed some potential and true talent from the CMC that we haven't seen since "Perfect Stallion."

Ive liked every song is seasond 3. They all have been either amazing like Babs seed or funny like Raicist barn The songs are going better and better with every season on MLP

Bad Seed is my favorite song- Catchy, great harmonies, all 3 CMC singing PERFECT

 

Raise the Barn- This song was eh, the 1 2 3 4 ruined it.

Bab Seed - Favourite  CMC's can sing!  Learnt all the words from just listening to it from several times.

 

Racist barn - is worst there's a reason applejack wasn't allowed to sing.

My favorite is Bab Seed. I just like how catchy it is and the singing is really well done. Also I like how visually interesting the song is. There's a lot of different things happening that make it fun (Bads coming out of the screen, split screen), it isn't just a pony singing as they walk from location to location.

 

My least is The Failure Song, its so boring and it is just a pony singing as they walk from location to location.

Oh, andeast favorite probably failure/sucess song (they're basically the same thing.) It just seemed so....basic. a lot of reasons for hate are already listed in other posts.

Babs Seed is my second favorite song of this show, after The Flim Flam Brother's Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 of course.

 

Least favorite is Ballad of the Crystal Ponies. It seems to be random and is very literal. Not my least favorite song of the show, but still not that good.

 

Racist Barn gets points for AJ song. So it's slightly better.

For me, I'd rank them in the following order:

 

1. Babs Seed

2. The Ballad of the Crystal Empire

3. Raise This Barn

4. The Failure Song

5. The Success Song

 

These last two are kinda interchangeable.

Racist barn, racist barn! 1, 2, 3, 4... But yeah, last episode's song is easily my favourite for Season 3. One of the best for all Seasons. As always, Ashleigh Ball's vocals are a pleasure to listen to. Bab's Seed comes in next, though I think "The Perfect Stallion" was better.

 

Then all the Crystal Empire songs are pretty bad, the Failure one being the most notable.

Ok I also sort of like Ballad of the Crystal Pony. It reminds me of winter wrap up a little bit mostly because of the guitar used. 

 

And I agree, raise this barn was a little iffy mainly because they use 1,2,3,4 a lot in the song

My favorite was Babs Seed, which has really grown on me since the first time I listened to it.

 

My least favorite was the Success Song. I recognize that it was a good way to send off the episode, but after in my opinion the rest of the six got completely shafted with regards to development and focus in The Crystal Empire, it really didn't help to hear them sing a song about how perfect and flawless Twilight is. The timing wasn't the best for me.

Babs Seed is my favorite song in Season 3, and so far is butting heads with "This Day Aria" as my favorite song in the entire series

 

As for least favorite, it's gotta be "Ballad of the Crystal Ponies", other songs usually have something that sticks out, whether it be something about the song or visuals, in such, Song of Failure has Spike and Twilight dancing, and Spike sings probably for the first time(I think) and "Raise this Barn" is a frikin' Applejack solo, and one that goes with her character so well. Ballad on the other hand has nothing, it just feels.....there

The failure song is the only one I listen to regularly. Just have to chop out the whole square root bit I love the melody and instruments and Twilight's voice... not so much Spike's voice, but I do like that he got to sing for once. Success is good too, but doesn't have that cool instrumental bit that's done near the start and at the end of Failure.

 

Least favorite is Racist Barn. Waaaay way way way way way way too too repetitively repetitive. I have a very low tolerance for recurring lines in songs, especially when they have repetition within themselves (i.e. 2x "raise this barn")

 

I didn't like Babs Seed that much the first time I heard it, but it's grown on me since then.

 

Ballad has a nice overall sound to it, but the lyrics are sort of... corny or something.

 

We need more songs like Find a Pet. Such a masterpiece, with awesome instrumentals, 2x awesome singing, lots of character interaction and advancing the story of the episode, dramatic buildup throughout the song, not corny at all, and unique the whole way through. Not one line is repeated

Easily Babs Seed, talk about a catchy song, holy shit! Couldn't get that thing out of my head for days.

 

My least favorite was a very easy choice again, The Barn Raising song. I loath the uneducated southern twang, I loath being all "hippie" and non-industrious, I loath farms that are not computer automated, encased in a sterile facility, and chemically assisted to the point of perfection with the ability to grow all year long, and I loath backwater hicks like Applejack. Science is all you really need.

 

Okay, being a little less harsh, I didn't like the southern sounds to it and it was far, far too repetitive. Although "Racist Barn" got me to listen to it at least one more time.

 

However the far more aggravating part of it was that Octavia-look-alike showing up. I do not like her. There is only one best pony. She plays the sophisticated Cello, not that baby's toy. (Honestly I never truly call any instrument a baby's toy, but I'm looking for insults here.) I was hoping she would just fade into the pits of everyone's memories. Some could say Octavia just colored her fur and dressed up for the Hearth's Warming Pageant. But an Apple Family gathering? That's be ridiculous.

 

And it seems a lot of people are Fanon-izing that "Fiddlesticks", as I've heard her called, as Octavia's sister. Sister! That's far too close of a relation to MY Octavia to be comfortable.

 

There, that's my opinion. Be insulted or not, I don't care. More fun for me if you are though.

Raise This Barn and Babs Seed are the stand outs so, far i think just about everyone will agree. I don't know which i like more though. I'm still listening to Raise This Barn a fair bit but i'm a little biased because it's AJ's song haha. Babs Seed was pretty adorable though

Babs Seed is my favorite no doubt in my mind. It was so cute and lyrics were cute and catchy. Mostly because of that song Babs became one of my favorite CMC's, right next to Scootaloo (my favorite little chicken).

Babs Seed was clearly the standout song so far this season. All the other songs where mostly ok, but nothing special. "Raise this barn" is kind of iffy, some others have called it racist. The entire plot seems kind of stereotypical in general (seriously is AJ's only defining feature that she is a farmer pre 1900/Amish or something? WTH!). Also the 1234 was really repetitive.

1- Babs Seed 

Firstly I loved how the CMC got a new song. Secondly the song had a very different vibe to it, similar to what you might here on something like an old episode of Scooby Doo. Thirdly it's extremely catchy.

 

2- The Failure Song

A winner for me as Spike got a chance to song. Another plus was it being another lovely Twilight song.

 

3- Raise This Barn

Probably my favorite part of the episode. Applejack finally gets her song, and I always love songs which progress into a chorus.

 

4- The Success Song

Rarity's solo was amazing, and a very nice ending to the episode.

 

5- The Ballad of the Crystal Empire

I enjoyed how each of the Mane 6 got a solo. The song also setup a nice background for the Crystal Empire.

 

Overall, there hasn't been a song in Season 3 thus far that I haven't enjoyed. Hats off to Daniel Ingram for an amazing soundrack this season.
