What is your Favorite book?

I can tell you mine has to be The Ultimate Hitchhikers's Guild by Douglas Adams. I guess it counts though it's 6 books in one, I always have loved Douglas Adam's stories.

But enough about me, I want to hear your favorite book. ( even if it isn't a book, It can be an legend, poem or anything! Post away!)

I don't read many books but from the few I read my favorite is Starcraft: Dark templar saga.
Also i tought about reading The Ultimate Hitchhikers's Guild but I don't know if it is translated to my language. Theoretically I could read it in english but I'm just a little too lazy for that :D

Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper! It is one of the hardest reads i have ever enjoyed but the depth and brilliance of the whole book is well worth the time spent on it! Admittedly the first part was very difficult to get through

Oh gosh that is such a hard one for me to decide, you don't even know!!!  I guess if I had to pick... well, not gonna pick the Bible just because it's more special to me than as just a book, so... I think I'll go with Michael Shaara's "The Killer Angels," which is only the finest Civil War novel anyone will ever read!

That's hard. When I was younger, I used to love Darren Shan's Vampire Saga. Good books were good. I still like a lot of kid's books, particularly Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Dr. Seuss' work. I guess at the moment it would have to be Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. I would also say Dune. It was a great story with a very interesting world and politics, but it let me down a smidge with little to no character development, and at times, very forced or arbitrary description.

I also like some of Anne Rice's earlier work. Unfortunately, every time I start reading one of her books, I get half way through and something happens which prevents me from finishing it (like, my dad taking the book back to the library without telling me. or random pages are missing... dry.png) In fact, the only Anne Rice book I managed to read from start to finish was one of her later books: Vittorio the Vampire, at that was dreadful.

My favorite book would have to be The Road by Cormack McCarthy. A man and his son try to survive as they walk through post apocalyptic America. Very dark book about the best and worst of mankind. Actually made me cry at the end. That's not something I usually do.

Right now, "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy". My other favorite is "Invisible Man" by Ralph Ellison, not to be confused by the sci-fi book.

Aww

My favorite book would have to be either Airborn or Skybreaker by Kenneth Oppal. Not mindblowing or anything by any means, but they're books that I've enjoyed reading multiple times. I'd say they're basically the reading equivalent of comfort food.

Fiction:

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton.

The only book I had to read for school that I found myself thoroughly immersed in the whole way through.

Non-fiction:

The Greatest Show on Earth by Richard Dawkins

Mmm, hard to say.... At this point in time, probably either Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton, or The Real George Washington by Jay A. Parry. I just recently read Jurassic Park and The Lost World, both by Michael Crichton, and found them to be superb. I did however enjoy Jurassic Park just a tad more than The Lost World. I loved the books and how much thought he put into writing them. However, ever since I read The Real George Washington a few years back, it has just stuck with me as one of my favorites. It explains all of the "mysteries and stories" of George Washington in such a way that it makes the book actually entertaining to read, not just another biography of the man we call the father of our country. Both books I found to be very riveting and I highly recommend them.

Running for honorably mention would be Animal Farm by George Orwell and The Giver by Lois Lowry.

Watchers by Dean Koontz its kinda dark
Its a bit hard to explain but, its about two lab experiments escaping, one fleeing from the other.
A assassin who believes that he is slowly gaining immortality with each kill

And a miserable man finding "happyniess"

All their story lines  tie together.
Im too tired to give a good description

Definitely Arthur C. Clarkes' 2001: A Space Odyssey. I can' wait till I finish the series, I'm sure it will be my favorite.

I'm on the second book so far. There's a total of 4 books in the series.

I'd pick something from the LotR series, but quite frankly I've only read parts of them.

But out of all the ones I HAVE read, I'd say this one has to be my favorite.

I very much like Stone Heart, a not very well known adventure set in London. The plot is full of interesting moments and the author (I can't remember him!) writes very well.

Motley Crue's autobiography, The Dirt.  In this, the band tells the entire story from before they got together, up until I think 2008.  And I just have to say, I haven't seen that many F bombs in any other book.  I remember I was reading it in class, and I was trying so hard not to laugh when they were talking about their tour with Ozzy Osbourne.  Just think about that for a second.  I highly recommend this to any fan of rock music, and obviously, any fan of Motley Crue.

My favourite book series would have to be Gone by Michael Grant. It's a brilliant book series and I highly reccomend it! :D

Gone_Michael_Grant.jpg

Pasted right from wikipedia:

GONE is a young-adult dystopian science fiction book series written by Michael Grant. The series is centered around the fictional American town of Perdido Beach, in which every human 15 and older vanishes. The town and surrounding areas become encased within an impenetrable energy barrier, with many of its inhabitants developing supernatural powers. The books follow the exploits of the protagonist, Sam Temple, as he battles antagonists Caine Soren and Drake Merwin, as well as a mysterious, malevolent creature.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I've read all the books multiple times and I somehow managed to get through the Silmarillion. It just happens that the second book of the trilogy was my favourite.

Another book that comes to mind is 1984 by George Orwell. While everyone doesn't live happily ever after, I'm glad that I read it of my own accord and not because I was forced to in grade 12. We were eventually forced to read it, but I was recommended to read it by my grade 8 English teacher. It really is a great story (unlike the great gatsby, but that's a whole other topic...)

I'm cheating a bit here because The Two Towers actually encompasses 2 books, but oh well!

Tough call. I have a couple of favorites in different genres.

Horror: The Dead Zone by Stephen King. It's just a well done story. There aren't a whole lot of supernatural elements, or any real monster. The entire conflict, and all the horror, comes from the villain, who is an aspiring politician who, according to one of the main character's visions, will bring about World War III should he become president.

Fantasy: Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin. It's the third in a series, which is usually a bad sign. However, the series is more like a chess game. While the first book (Game of Thrones) set up the board, and the second book (Clash of Kings) moved pieces around, this book is where the series really kicked in, and big events started happening. And thanks to the previous books developing the characters, you really start to root for the good guys...and want the bad guys to die painfully.

Well picking a favourite book is gonna be kinda hard for me. My "favourite" book is normally the book I'm currently in the middle of reading, which right now is Hidden A House of Night Novel by Kristen and P.C. Cast. Its book ten in the series and so far its a really

In the end though if I need to pick a favourite out of the books I have already finished I would pick Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. It's a schi-fi book about a young boy who is trained to be a general and tricked into fighting. The story is a lot more in depth than one might think by that description. It really gets hamster wheel in your head turning and keeps you glued to the pages, I recomend this book to anyone who ever enjoyed the books based on the video game Halo: Combat Evolved, and its many sequals.
