gaming Games that don't get a lot of attention.

Earlier I was thinking, and there are a lot of awesome games that never really get a lot of attention. Sure, we all know manestream games like Super Mario Bros., Call of Duty (number here) and Final Fantasy (number here), but what about games that are great, but nopony really knows about them? Let's list games we like but don't get talked about a lot. Who knows, you might learn about a game you wouldn't have thought to try otherwise. ;)

I'm going to kick-start this thread by mentioning A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda. It's a great platformer, remniscent of games like Megaman X, but I never see anypony mention it. I probably would've never gotten to play it had it not been in an indie bundle some time ago. Short, but great, and an epic soundtrack.

Second, I'd also have to mention Zombies Ate My Neighbors on the SNES (Don't have the Genesis version). It's an excellent 1-or-2-player top-down run-and-gun-style shooter, where the goal is to rescue survivors. Tons of weapons, nice looking visuals, lot of levels, about 48 or so, it's just begging for a 4-player HD remake.

AaAaAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity, that is probably my favorite indie game. Also the Thief series, I really hope they don't screw up the fourth game.

Don't know if it was popular or not. But I think that Smash TV for the SNES never got the popularity it deserved. Great top-down shooter.

Guess another game would have to be Body Harvest for the N64. Guess no one liked aliens when it got released. It was a 3rd person shooter, kill aliens trying to harvest the planet, and you can ride in vehicles by teleporting into them. (From motorcycles to airplanes)

3D Dot Game Heroes, it's basically a parody of old zelda titles for PS3.

Dissidia (duodecim): Final Fantasy - in comparison to the rest of the franchise it's not very well known.

Jet Force Gemini - an awesome third person shooter for N64. If you have one get this game.

Radical Dreamers for SNES, definitely not known by most people.

It's a text based squeal to Chrono Trigger. With some multiple endings/stories.

SuperXtreme Alphacosmos Police Case EX Ultra :D

^I promise this is canon.

Orcs Must Die!

Stuff like that. Some are possibly known. Some are more obscure. Often never heard from after a while.

I dunno if I would consider 3D Dot Game Heroes would be a game that doesn't get a lot of attention. So far as I know it's one of the must-have PS3 games. lol

As for RD, I know of it but I can't play it cuz I don't read Japanese unfortunately. :(

Little known fact about RD: It's actually what inspired Chrono Cross in the first place.

There is an English patch for it here but you'll need to also have an emulator and rom.

Sword of the Stars. Its far from indie but it is quite a niche.

Its a brilliant space strategy game with a massive tech tree, you could play a hundred games and never use the same tech paths.

A sequel came out late last year but its horribly buggy right now, they are in the process of fixing everything.

I can't make signatures.

Speaking of Space RTS, Homeworld series. Don't hear a lot about that.

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident too.

Also the Thief series, I really hope they don't screw up the fourth game.

If you still like the older Thief games you may be interested in knowing...

• A friend of mine made a working coop multiplayer mod/hack for Thief 2 that is currently available.

• The source code for Thief 2 was found a while back, and is currently being tinkered with in secret by dark code ninjas who have plans on releasing something rather nice using it.

As for my own games...

• Giants: Citizen Kabuto

• Freelancer

• Worms: Armageddon

Trine 1 and 2 definitely need more attention, like Tich said. Seriously, the games are beautifully designed and the attention to detail in the scenery is amazing to say the least. Not to mention the gameplay is great.

Here's a really obscure one: Iggy's Reckin' Balls on the Nintendo 64. It's a weird mix of genres, a combination of platforming and racing. You play as, well, balls, and you have grapples, and you have to navigate a tower. Really, you don't see creativity in games like that much anymore.

Quake 3. I loved it and I still do.

I dunno, that game had a lot of attention back when it was still new... though I was more of an Unreal Tournament man, myself.

I was like 4 when I played it, so I don't know...D:

O__O

What came out when I was 4? *quick google search*

Sonic The Hedgehog, Neverwinter Nights, Civilization, Street Fighter II, Super Mario World, F-Zero...

Ugh.

Anyway, I've always thought the Jet Grind/Jet Set games were really underrated. NiGHTS into Dreams for the Sega Saturn. Shining Force II.

Super Meat Boy gets decent press but if you haven't played it YOU SHOULD OH GOD. The controls are smoother than Morgan Freeman's voice.

YES, I still have JSRF for the original Xbox, and it is an amazing game.

Adding in Ristar. I know a few people who think its a complete rip off of the Sonic games, but if you've ever played it, you'll know its about 20% cooler. Evne the soundtrack was better.

Trauma Center. I know there's a good following for it but frankly some of it is just the yaoi fangirl's who haven't played it just watched the walthrough.

It's such a great game, the characters are solid, the concept is weird but interesting and the most recent additon Trauma Team was fantastic!

Alright I'm done ranting...Oh and Just Dance is an awesome game too.

How about Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines?

The game was a bit of a mess at launch, but a combination of official and unofficial patches helped to deal with that.
