About the season finale...

Hello everypony, welcome to my thread. Before I get started, I'd like to let everyone know that this thread contains MASSIVE SPOILERS ABOUT THE SEASON FINALE. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KEEP YOURSELF CLEAN OF ANY LEAKS OR SPOILERS, STAY AWAY.

So, the HUB has thrown a new pony commercial into the rotation, with some hints and what the season finale will be like, as well as it's name. Equestria Daily has posted it on their site, but for the sake of sparing you all the nightmare that is the EQD comment section, I'll embed it below.

Actually, don't even tell me, because that's the point of this "PSA" if you will. The brony community seems to have a tendency to overreact to...well, EVERYTHING. That's not good. We all let our speculations run wild worse than Rarity, and it tends to sour alot of potentially cool and wonderful opportunities for the show.

 

So, as you probably saw if you were paying attention to that commercial, the season finale has to do alot with "Twilight's destiny". It also has the title "The Princess Coronation". That pretty much means Twilight is destined to become a princess (or...attend a coronation? o_O). That also means that the Alicorn Twilight rumors aren't as far-fetch'd as some would hope.

 

So, what do we all do?

 

Panic Nothing.

 

We. Do. Nothing.

 

We. Say. Nothing.

 

We simply wait until the episode airs, and we watch it, and only when the credits have come to a complete stop, do we say anything. Please everypony, let's not overreact this time. Please? Let's (for once in the history of the entire fandom) approach this with an open mind, and see how it goes.

 

Is that too much to ask?

 

No "Jump The Shark" comments, no flame wars, no wild speculations or accusations. Let's just wait and see how it plays out.

That commercial as far as I can tell was way to open for speculation and left very little to interpretation. Excited? Hard to say. Confused? Not really. Intrigued? A little. Did it spoil anything? Not really but it was an interesting hint. But if one is not born with the title princess, that is the part that i'm having a hard time speculating. Cause that would mean in the world of ponies, princess is both a title earned and prophesied which would also imply that it is also chosen for you without your knowledge. Which would also imply that a pony's destiny is chosen for them, and what happens in between those two points is simply what happens. Hmmm I don't know.

It's all just assertions, speculations and conspiracy theories. If there will be a new alicorn we didn't see before, you can do nothing about it. If  Twilli becomes alicorn, you can do nothing about it. If Celestia dies and there will be new princes, you can do nothing about it.

 

Simply, you can't do anything, so you may just as well sit back and enjoy whatever comes.

I really highly doubt she will become an Alicorn or a princess. At the very least not this early in the show. It's just to early for something like that. If they have any plans for it to go past a 4th season doing something like that would feel extremely rushed. Not to mention the finally is a one part episode. You'd need a two part for this. Maybe even a movie. Whatever the season finally holds I'm sure it will still be as great a show as ever.

It wouldn't be the end of the world. I could envision them moving the show from self-contained stories to a continous story format that's more about the adventures Twilight and her friends go on. Yeah, I just think alicorn in Mane 6 would give a bad vibe. It's kinda like "Oh hey, I'm god now by the way, don't mind me tho. Act as if nothing happened."

But then again, so far I really liked even the episodes people called terrible and the end of the world as we know it, so I'm not very bothered. I'm sure it will still have "that" magic that keeps me watching again and again.

... hmmm wait. Her brothers a Prince right? So wouldn't that already make Twi a Princess? i don't know how heirarchy works. But i don't think they would make Twi an alicorn. Its possible. But whats also possible is the chance she isn't becoming an alicorn. Perhaps shes just become a princess.

 

And you know i have been thinking. Just because we are goingt o find out Twis destiny doesn't mean it has anything to do with this Princess thing. They could be seperate. hell they never even said whos destiny it is. For all we know the Hub could be trolling us.

 

I have faith in the shows creators and writers and staff. I doubt they would make any rash or stupid decisions. I'm sure this finale is gonna be great.

Unless the season is going to end on a cliffhanger.  I've seen other shows do this, where they've ended seasons on cliffhangers, so it's not entirely out of line to think they could do the same with FiM.  Now do I take that to mean that Twilight is going to become a Princess or Alicorn?

 

Let's address the Alicorn thing first.  No, I don't for a minute think that will happen.  For a few reasons.  First, there's been no prior indication that she could become one.  Second, it was never brought up that Ponies could change their entire race.  Third, she isn't related to Celestia and Luna.  And fourth, that just wouldn't be that great of a plot point.  Maybe I'm missing something there, but I just can't think of a plausible way to do that.

 

As for the second point, do I think she could become a Princess?  Ehh...  Maybe.  It would be a stretch, but they never said that only Alicorns could be royalty.  So just because she's a Unicorn doesn't mean she can't be royalty or related to someone of royal blood.  After all, Prince Blueblood is royalty, and he's a Unicorn (unless all the people who kept insisting he's royalty are willing to rescind their statements).

 

Would I personally do this?  It depends.  I can think of a few ways this could be done extremely well to where it would be memorable, but most of them would involve the necessity for a 2-part episode.  So no matter what, the season ends on a cliffhanger if I was the one that had to do it.

 

Also, making her a Princess wouldn't necessarily change all that much.  When Usagi became Princess Serenity, what really changed with her?  She got a new outfit and a new magic wand.  That's it.  She still hung out with her friends and went to the mall, and she was still a klutz.  Nobody was overshadowed, because the stakes were raised, as the other characters improved and became stronger as well.

 

My point is, until the show flat out tells us otherwise, don't panic about a major change to the status quo.  Even if it happens, there are ways they can handle it that might surprise you.

Equally as likely. If Discord's return and "reform" is any indication, they could just as easily blindside us with something completely different than "Twilight becomes princess. Everyone's happy and has a grand ole' time."

No no no no no. I'll say it once and I'll say it a million times, I'm perfectly fine with Twilight becoming an alicorn if the rest of the Mane 6 become alicorns too, since they're all the wielders of the EOH. It would also fit the in-show universe as well (and my headcannon) that alicorns are made by using the EOH, and then Cadance is an alicorn from being the descendant of one of Celestia or Luna's children from hundreds/thousands of years ago, and as a non-EOH-made alicorn is not super-powerful or immortal. Then there's the fact that this is not a 2-part episode, so it'll probably be Suddenly Wings! instead of having an epic scene of turning into an alicorn to defeat new Super Bad. Yeah, I mostly want it this way to fulfill my headcannon, but it is an awesome headcannon.

Well I for one don't think it will happen.

One:

Something like this would require at the very least a 2-part episode to make it memorable. Let's say they do make it a cliffhanger episode, what exactly will that accomplish besides make more people worried what will happen. Also it kinda will foreshadow some things we will come to expect.

Two:

I don't think that being royalty is exclusive for one race. If they do thins they will only face controversies. What am I talking about? Im talking about over-exsesive parents who see fit to Fram everything. If they see this happen in the show we will get something like "only alicorns are royalty so it must be linked to racism". I think that Hasbro is smart enough not to go into that line.

Three:

If the rumors are true that Hasbro is making her an Alicorn to sell toys, then that dosn't make sense. If Hasbro is out to sell more toys wouldn't the smarter idea be making the other mane six change as well to make a new set of toys. If they want (Don't Hurt Me!) they could add sea ponies to sell, well sea ponies toys. From a marketing perspective it seems more advantages to make a huge change to sell more toys then change one character to sell one toy.

 

All that aside in not worried. If Twilight Alicorn happens then fine, we can't stop it. I'll still watch the show. In all honesty something like this won't affect my love for the show.

By not speculating and just letting the episodes come as they are I have learned to enjoy the show for what it is and not how I want it to be, which is something I think everyone should do.

I just had one hell of an idea connected to this but I'm not sure on the politics. Shining armour and Cadence were married, making him a prince of the realm. What if that's all it is? His coronation as prince? With some funny antics throughout the episode?

Doesn't MLP have a history of making the season finales be exactly the opposite of what we expect them to be?  Let's have a look:

 

Season 1 finale name: The Best Night Ever

 

What it actually was: The worst night ever.

 

Season 2 finale name: A Canterlot Wedding

 

What it actually was: The revealing of a plot overthrow Canterlot by siphoning their abundance of love followed by an epic fight which would determine the fate of Equestria.  Oh right, there was something about a wedding in there too, but I don't remember much about that...

 

Conclusion:  Based on past season finales, what we think we currently know about the S3 finale is probably wrong.

To be honest, I could totally see Twilight becoming a Princess. Not an Alicorn. At least not yet, but a princess, yeah. It seems to be the logical progression of Twilight's training, and while she'll likely gain more power... that'd be about it. Her magic will be stronger. No cause for panic. No end of the fandom (though I warn you, cartoons of this variety only get so many seasons). And whatever happens, fans of the show should still be fans of the show, and bronies will always be bronies.

I personally despise the idea of Twlight becoming an alicorn. What's really the point of it? What will it add to make her a better character? Nothing. She is fine as is. An exceptionally magical young unicorn with great qualities and amusing flaws.

 

I same ask of, what's the point of her becoming princess at all? It feels more like Hasbro is trying to shove this princess crap down our throats. That's a really bad and stupid message to send to little girls. That only by being a Princess is one really special and reaching the top achievement of life.

 

BUT. Just like Hasbro wanted to shove in a pink pony princess and the show staff did a phenomenal job with it, I feel this whole Twilight becoming a princess and/or "alicorn" can be salvaged. For some reason I feel she will modestly decline the offer, be it at the moment it is given to her, or after she comes to a realization. 

 

In the end, whatever the case we gotta relax and remember why we really love this show and it's characters. Let's not have this one thing that we may highly dislike about it ruin what we love about it. I really want to blow a fuse, but nothing will be achieved by that. >.<

So you fear that changing the character would make her worse? I can understand that, but it's a logical progression. Anyways, I don't think it'll happen in the show. Finales, premiers, or just normal episodes, I don't think they'll make her an alicorn. That'd require a movie, most likely. As for making her a Princess... that really wouldn't change a thing. Just the title. They'd find a way to put her right back in Ponyville at the end, regardless of her duties.

Being a princess is a tough job and I'm scared that we will lose touch with the dialog between Twilight and the others. It could turn out good but why mess with success?

Df, that is exactly why people are panicking about the "end of the series." The fact is, that most people think Twilight becoming a princess or an Allicorn would end the series, but that's not necessarily true, and even so, there's no reason to think that the Princess Coronation is Twilight's. Other than this being about her "destiny," which could be a lot of things in and of itself.

 

All the same, we'll just have to see what happens.
