Nooo I meant I liked more than just her character design. I didn't feel she was too flat, however I guess it was because I didn't look at as JUST NMR... I saw it as a coin, with Rarity on one side & NMR on the other. I found the struggle to be actually quite engaging & relatable, which made the character overall better than, say Sombra was. She even probably had better character than Chrysalis, despite my love of the Changeling Queen. I just don't see why people don't like it, I don't see it as that bad of a character... Speaking as someone who can't STAND a bad villain (seriously I have played games & seen movies/tv shows that are make or break based on villains alone) I have seen much worse than NMR. Is she the most 3D villain ever? No, not at all. Borderlands 2 had a wonderfully fleshed out & comedic villain, Spec Ops; The Line had a greatly dynamic villain, & if we stick within the MLP Universe we have Discord & Tyrek who both had great characters overall who blow NMR out of the water. But that doesn't make her bad in my eyes, just less than perfect. Nothing wrong with that

 

PS I am not trying to start some big fight or anything... I just figured I would say something since I had just gotten done with the character arch & had been expecting something horrendous based on what I had been hearing about it... When I got an actually decent villain & pretty good arch, I just felt like adding my 2 cents into the pile, not create a flame war over it... Terribly sorry

Oh phew, that is a good bit of relief right there. Now I can breathe again... I was holding my breathe while waiting on responses 

Anyways... Yeah, I won't deny that Rarity's character VS NMR's was stacked in favor the marshmallow. It was, overall, a downgrade. I just feel comparing a villain who got little action in a comic to Rarity, arguably one of the most well characterized... Well, characters in the show is a bit unfair to the villain

well. I need to actually write out my Rarity thoughts.

 

And all of my blog posts have one flaw: lack of schema.

Well, maybe you could write something about her job? How she manages to stay true to herself in this merciless fashion industry, even if it means to take the slow approach to get to her goals. That even though she has a hard time fitting in with the high society, she still manages to do good deeds and stay that friendly and generous mare we know and love.

 

Like in Sweet and elite were she helped that artist pony and the auctioneer pony, or how she was friendly to Hayseed even though he basically ruined her reputation with Upper Crust and Jet Set. Stuff like that maybe.

So, just finished the Nightmare Rarity Arch... I kinda liked it lol. The setup during the nightmares were really good, I love how Luna & Spike were actually important & used for something in the arch, & I don't think NMR was THAT bad of a villain... Better than Sombra, that's for sure... Still think she has one of the best designs in terms of villains in the MLP universe... I mean yeah, it could have been better, NMR could have been more fleshed out than just Nightmare Moon 2.0 but... Nightmare Moon 2.0 isn't a bad thing, necessarily. Overall, not a perfect arch but... I don't think I am going to agree with ghostie on this one, I still like Nightmare Rarity. Sorry

I honestly haven't read any of the comics so I'm only judging this on what others have said or outside works I've seen but so far NMR is looking to be my least favorite version of Rarity. So I will keep for myself the true Rarity that she is.

Well, i only have read the Rarity micro so far, so i cannot say anything about the others. But in that comic Rarity was perfect.

 

She was funny, cute, generous, smart, complex. She was basically everything i love about her. Im going so far to say that comic was flawless.

So you noticed my return Eeyup; I've been catching up on the last few days, which means brohoofs for everypony! Partly to show my appreciation as y'all are what keeps me coming back to these forums (and this club specifically) and partly because the make a damn good bookmark!

 

Anywho, I had a nice couple of days off... Spent some quality time with the wifey and got my room where I'm happy with it... Both clean and my display shelves updated with my newest swag... Oh; and I prime spot for the Rarity poster that came in the tin from Target.... She's now the FIRST thing I see when I walk in my room!
