Could not have asked for a better finale. That episode actually felt like it was made for us older viewers. Well bucking done.

Now i just need to wait for a 1080p version to be uploaded to Youtube so i can re-watch it

I'd like to point out that DHX media made all the work while hasbro "kindly" provided the Alicorn stuff.

other than that, good job writers, we heard your scream and it reached onto us. good job indeed!!

sorry if you don't like it...it;s just my opinion. I see the alicorns as a step above the other ponies and I didn't think TS deserved to be placed on a pedestal...like I have said in the threads...it's my opinion

TS is no better than the others and this really burns me

No, I respect your opinion. I was just addressing your concern about Twilight, and I was stating my reasons as to why I don't think this makes her better than anyone.

I agree with the above statements about the episode wayy too fast-paced, like squeezing 2-3 episodes into one, also the excessive use of songs, as if it is a musical. I expected some more serious and deep presentation of Princess Twilight Sparkle.

Nevertheless, one thing was great about this episode - the core idea - Twilight becoming an Alicorn and a Princess is fantastic! I would love to see how the show will go with such a major change waiting to happen. It's amazing but happened so fast that I didn't even realize how quickly did all that happen.

it wasn't that bad, don't exagerate. Besides, this is not the first time they do a "poor" plot, so you shouldn't be surprised at all, we bronies tend to have our standards as high as Cloudsdale is located *geez*

To put it simple and quick, I was right, you are SUPER butthurt, this is another reason why the magic of friendship is so powerful and this event shows it.

But I'm wasting my time with you, I will not make you see.

No, my standards are that a plot be fucking coherent, believable, and interesting. I don't believe that too high of standards. And if you're going to resort to making fun of anyone who doesn't like this episode, then I'm done talking to you.

That episode seemed.....kinda rushed almost. Like everything that happened in it should have been put in a movie or something. Don't get me wrong, the production value was AMAZING. The songs, the animations....they put a lot of work into it but it felt like they tried to pack too much into one episode. It started too fast, ended too fast and the entire episode consisted of songs (admittedly some of the best songs in the entire series)

It almost felt like a finale to the series that they wanted to get over with but I sincerely hope what I'm reading about it being just the first of a three parter continuing next season is true. It was WAY too soon to pull something like that so quickly.

The main thing I had with the episode was there was absolutely no buildup. We got thrown directly into it and then they threw it all at us at once.

Calm down, doctor. Now is not the time for fan fighting. That comes later.

Seriously, folks, please keep it civil. There is no need to get angry at one another over disagreements about MLP. Things are beginning to sizzle a bit, so I just wanted to drop this friendly reminder for everyone to stay cool.

I agree. Life's too short to fight over a difference in opinion. There will almost always be a difference in opinion. I definitely don't mind having civil discussions with people about this, but it's sad to see that some people here have taken a step too far and decided to fight and insult one another over this.

But, I am sure there is one thing we can all agree on. Though we all have different opinions about different aspects of MLP, I'm sure there is at least one thing we all love about some part of the show. Otherwise, we wouldn't be here. Some people seem like they want to quit the fandom. Instead of doing that, I recommend that they focus on whatever that part was, and remember how happy it made them feel. MLP is far from over, and surely there will be future episodes that will please them. I vote to remain calm, optimistic, and to see what will be seen when the time comes.

It was a beautiful episode. I shed a little bit of liquid pride at one point. The all the songs and especially Celestia's balled amoung the various flashbacks was just amazing. A great way to end an overall great season.

My biggest complaint is how early they leaked Twilicorn. I never watch leaks or spoiler clips of the episodes before they come out, but even by doing that I couldn't avoid all the rumors of her transformation. I didn't know how exactly it was going to happen, but I knew she would be an alicorn and a princess by the end. That really took away a huge part of the surprise for me.

Overall, I think it was an amazing episode that could've used a lot better spoiler control from hasbro.

Calling people "butthurt" when they say they don't like the episode is mocking them, if you like the episode, that's cool, I don't care, but don't make fun of people who don't simply because they don't. And that's all I'm gonna say.

I could have used a worse adjective. This Twilight's alicorn drama has been present on the forums for weeks and being so narrow minded and on top of that blaming Hasbro for "ruining" the show is completely out of place.

It wasn't exactly on wether the episode was good or bad.

So... This is the line to complain about the episode, right?

Okay, cool.

I didn't like it. I didn't hate it either. And that's my problem with it, i don't know how to feel about this. So... she's an alicorn now... that was bound to happen at some point, but also she's a princess, you know, the kind of things normal ponies run in terror for fear of being disrespectful by accident or something. Don't fucking say this is not important or everything will be the same, it will not, the game change for good and i don't know how this will end. From the relationship with her friends to the towns people and so on...

I really don't know what to think, but i don't feel to optimistic about it.

Maybe writing the spell wasn't a test but just an excuse for why Twilight is an alicorn. Perhaps Celestia was able to guess what Twilight would do. She knew Twilight would cast the spell without knowing what it did, and she knew that it would make a mess that Twilight would fix, and how Twilight would fix it. The spell that Celestia sent was purposely written like that so that Twilight would rewrite and cast the way it was meant to, super charging the elements and causing the energy to be absorbed into the crown Twilight was wearing.

Perhaps the reason Celestia told Twilight to keep the Elements close was not because she was worried about Discord but because she was already planning for this and needed Twilight to be near the elements when she cast the spell. The elements absorbed the energy created by rewriting everyone's destinies twice, and combined with the magic of friendship, Twilight thus absorbed all the power through her crown and charged her up into an alicorn. Twilight would have turned into an alicorn in that situation whether or not Celestia appeared in that dreamscape, but she needed to make sure Twilight didn't get lost.

While Celestia turned Twilight into an alicorn more indirectly, creating the spell was really just a trigger for the transformation, rather than becoming an alicorn as a reward for creating the spell.

I find that MLP is one of the few things left that is capable of making me just sit down and rain a copious amount of emotional, manly tears down my stupid face.

I loved the episode, it was delightful. It definitely pulled on my emotional strings numerous times with all of the flashback panels with Twilight and Celestia, and Twilight's devotion and appreciation for all of her friends. Such love and feelings of friendship like that should always hit a soft spot for everypony.

It did feel like I was watching more of a musical than an episode, but then again, is that really a bad thing? MLP has always provided us with great music that gets stuck in our heads for weeks, and this episode was a flaunt of the musical talent possessed by the voice actresses and singers. I certainly appreciate it; not many cartoons even incorporate song into their shows, and MLP gives us some of the best. (Twilight's singer is just fantastic. Chills, man.)

It seems to me that much of the brony community is just excessively difficult to please sometimes...

Change is not always a bad thing. If we were to go on doing the same thing for a while, it gets boring. Twilight's advancement to a princess opens doors to new ideas. Lay off the producers a bit. They've provided us with 3 seasons of adorable, wonderfully-created episodes of our cute, awesome ponies. We've been given a lot as fans of this show, so I think we ought to just relax, and trust them. I'm sure they know what they're doing. I have a feeling that the last line of the episode, "Everything's going to be fine," was definitely said for a reason. The producers probably foresaw the brony community freaking out.

The pace was a bit fast, but the do only have 22 minutes of screen. And with that amount of time, I think the episode did everything it needed to do succinctly. And from I have heard, the first two episodes of the already confirmed S4 is a continuation of this episode's plot, so we all have something to look forward to!

Let's try not to be biased because the idea of Twilight becoming a princess is initially unsettling. Be happy for her. I'm sure our adorable Twilight and all of her quirks are here to stay.  ^_^

It wasn't a bad episode, the only problem I had with it really was the sensory overload. Too much happened too fast. I felt like there was a lot of cut content that would've helped pace it a lot better.

But in all honesty, I liked this episode and I'm waiting to see what they're going to do with this kind of character development. There are a lot of creative directions they could go with from here that could actually turn out really good.

anyway for the people that are concerned about where is twilight going to stay, well she'll stay in ponyville and will continue tha same adventures as before, or at least that's what Tara said on the latest interviews: "A lot of the fans were worried she is going to leave, but she's going to stay in Ponyville and have adventures with them."

Thats the other thing that bugged me.  Its like really?  Celestia has the power to turn ponies into alicorns?  Why not go down and give the Earth ponies some wings or magic so they can dont have to be on the ground all the time

jeez

And all the people that are mad about twilight becoming an alicorn need to grow up.  Its like really?  Do you get upset when your friends  excel in real life too?  I'm not complaining about twilight being an alicorn, just about how stupid the delivery was

Usually Im the last one to criticize anything, but when they mess up this bad from an artistic perspective I just have to wonder what were they thinking?!?!???

I personally felt that this would have been better as a two-parter.  The whole "switching cutiemarks" thing was just glossed over so much.  It was like "okay, here's the problem, I have the solution, poof, it's done".  Maybe have that be the first episode and then the second part is the solution to the "switching cutiemarks" problem and then the coronation.

The singing was also overdone.  I prefer quality over quantity, and the songs just weren't up to the same standards as the other ones in this show.

But don't get me wrong.  Even if it was poorly-executed, I'm super-psyched about Twilight being an alicorn now.  I love it.  I hope hope HOPE she stays this way forever!  :D

Even if you could argue that all that she's accomplished and learned while living in ponyville makes her fit for rulership (which I don't agree with), there were absolutely no implications throughout the course of the series that this was going to happen. No buildup, none, it just happened all of a sudden and we're expected to believe it. Also, why do they need another ruler? Is 2 not enough? They never explain why they needed a third princess. What exactly was the point?

Maybe Hasbro was standing behind them (figuratively) tapping on their watch for the writers to get done faster. As I think most of us have already said, this does not feel like it was meant for a 22 minute episode. Keep Calm, Flutter On looks perfectly paced compared to this, and people were saying that it could have used a bit more time as well. Twilight seemed to fall to despair about her situation really quickly, and while I'm not surprised she didn't think of the solution right away (even with the fact she brought them back before), she seemed to give up too quickly, which felt like either lazy or rushed writing, and I'm guessing it's the latter.

Merchandise. It's working on the long standing idea that little girls like princesses and want to be a princess when they grow up, ignoring what a princess really is. Why do you think Disney has so many princess characters?

um, yeah he didn't say it wasn't hasbro either though so...yeah

I have a feeling that in that tweet he is implying that someone from Hasbro didn't simply say "Hey guys, you have to add this to the show and you have no choice". In fact, I have a feeling that Hasbro give them a check list of things they can do (similar to the list of names they can choose for characters) and tell them to implement them in some way.

An example of this: Rarity with butterfly wings. They were probably given a checklist at the beginning of production on S1 that said 'a character has butterfly wings in an episode' and the creative team gave Rarity butterfly wings. Toys were then created for multiple characters with butterfly wings, despite the fact that only Rarity had wings in the show. This showed that the creative side working on the show had no direct influence with the toy line that was being produced.

The decision to specifically give Rarity the butterfly wings and the decision of how Twilight became an Alicorn would have been down to the creative team at DHX. People from DHX and Hasbro probably have a meeting before work starts on the season where they decide on what points from the checklist they're going to implement in the season. Meghan actually said she had liked the idea of making Twilight an Alicorn for some time, so when she became head writer she could have turned around to Hasbro and said "we're going to do Alicorn Twilight at the end of this season" just as how in S2 Lauren could have said "we're going to do the wedding theme at the end of this season".

...Wow. Long post is long.
